Two people have been arrested after explosive materials were found in a home in Hays.

After Hays Police Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of West 11th on Sunday for a disturbance, a search warrant was executed for drug-related items. During the search, explosive materials were found in the home.

The Kansas Highway Patrol’s Hazardous Devices Unit was called to the scene and disposed of the material off-site early Monday afternoon.

On Tuesday, Hays Police Chief Don Scheibler identified two suspects from the home that had been detained during the investigation. He confirmed the materials were explosive in nature, but declined to identify the material.
