SALINE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating an escape from custody and asking for help to locate a wanted Kansas felon.
On May 10, the Saline County Sheriff’s Office was attempting to arrest 25-year-od Byron Neef in the 1200 block of Talley Drive in Salina for outstanding felony warrants.
After the deputy got one handcuff on Neef, he struck the deputy in the head and took off running, according to Saline County CrimeStopopers.
The deputy was treated by EMS at the scene.
Neef is wanted for the felony warrants and is facing new requested charges for obstruction and battery of a law enforcement officer. He has previous convictions for Violation of protective order issued from abuse, theft, criminal use of a weapon, criminal damage to property, drug and drug paraphernalia possession, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
