
DOUGLAS COUNTY —A mail carrier is recovering from a dog attack that happened in the 1100 block of New York in the city of Lawrence on Thursday afternoon, according to a media release from police.
First responders found the woman inside a nearby home, where she escaped to get away from the dog. She lost the tip of her finger in the attack and had a puncture wound on her leg.
Paramedics with Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical treated her at the scene then took her to the hospital for further care.
The Lawrence Police Department Animal Control Officer cited the owner for having a dangerous animal and animal at large. The dog’s owner cooperated with the investigation and produced vaccination records. The dog will be in quarantine for 10 days while the investigation continues
