SEDGWICK COUNTY—Two people died in an accident just before 10a.m. Thursday in Sedgwick County.

A Chevy minivan driven by 33-year-old Justin Newby of Derby was westbound on Southern Street at 63rd Street South, according to Lt. Benjamin Blick.

The van struck an eastbound Toyota passenger vehicle driven by 91-year-old Ramona Blizzard of Wichita, head-on.  After impact, the minivan struck the rear of a Chevy truck in the westbound lane of 63rd Street South.

Newby and Blizzard were pronounced dead at the scene. The 70-year-old driver and a 63-year-old passenger in the Chevy truck, both of Haysville, received minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation. Investigators suspect speed and recklessness contributed to the accident, according to Blick.
