Mystery continues to surround a piece of human skull found by mushroom hunters along Dry Creek in Saline County.

While the Kansas Bureau of Investigation lab was able to collect a partial DNA profile from the piece of skull, it was of insufficient quality for comparison testing, according to Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan.

On April 20, deputies were sent to Dry Creek north of W. Magnolia Road in Saline County after two men hunting for mushrooms on the east side of the tree line along the creek bed reported finding a human skull.

What they found was the top part of a human skull that appeared to have been there for quite some time, according to the sheriff.
