JACKSON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on multiple allegations after a traffic stop.
Just after 2a.m. September 6, a sheriff's deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for allegedly speeding on U.S. Highway 75 near the Shawnee County Line, according to Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse.
During the traffic stop, the deputy gained probable cause to search the vehicle. The driver was removed from the vehicle, and a search of the driver’s person was conducted. During the search, methamphetamine and a pipe were located.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of additional suspected marijuana.
The driver, Jose Angel Gamboa Jr., 45, of Topeka, was arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail. He was booked on requested charges of possession of a certain stimulant (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and speeding.
