Kansas man jailed after crash into Salina home

SALINA —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man for alleged DUI after a crash into a home in Salina.

Just before 4:30p.m. Monday, a 2003 Ford Escape driven by Juan Galvan, 35, Salina, was westbound in the 800 Block of Merrily Drive in Salina, according to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester.  The car struck the curb and then crashed into a home.

EMS transported Galvan to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of minor head and neck injuries from the airbag deployment. Nobody inside the home was injured. However, the home sustained major damage and the city building inspector was called to the scene, according to Forrester.

Following his trip the hospital, police booked Galvan on requested charges that include, Driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol; 2nd conviction;(evidence of blood/breath .08+) Possession of marijuana, Possession of drug paraphernalia and Improper driving on laned roadway, according to Forrester.  Police did release a damage estimate on the home.
