SEWARD COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating alleged child rape and trafficking of a runaway 13-year-old girl from Texas, according to a media release from the Liberal Police Department.
On Tuesday, authorities located the Denison, Texas girl in the 1000 block of South Kansas Avenue in Liberal. She was with a 63-year-old man.
Two 63-year-old men from Liberal approached the girl at a restaurant in Denison, and one of them convinced the teen to come with them to Kansas.
After they arrived in Liberal, Kansas, the 13-year-old girl reported she was forcefully raped by one of the men, according to the release.
"The man also alleged told her he was going to prostitute her out to other people who would pay them good money."
Police booked the suspect on requested charges of rape and aggravated counts of human trafficking, kidnapping, interference with parental custody, intimidation of a victim and indecent liberties with a child. Police did not release the suspect's name.
A search warrant connected to the case was executed in the 800 block of South Lincoln in Liberal. The victim also told police the suspect had several visitors while she was in his home.
