Battery victim's statement at Kan. hospital leads to arrest

OSAGE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a violent attack and have a suspect in custody.

On Friday, the Osage County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by a local hospital regarding a patient who was receiving care from a battery that happened in Scranton, Kansas area, according to Sheriff Chris Wells.

An investigator was dispatched to the hospital to speak to the victim.

Just before noon Friday, a Scranton Police Officer observed the suspect identified as 37-year-old Tommy Lee Marshall driving around the community.

Scranton Police Officers made contact with Marshall and detained him for investigators.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Marshall and transported to the Osage County Jail. He is being held on requested charges of aggravated battery, criminal damage, criminal restraint, and a Shawnee County Warrant. He is being held on a $750,000 bond, according to Wells.

Formal charges will be submitted to the Osage County Attorney’s Office.
