Kansas man captured near scene of business burglary

SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect captured at the scene of a burglary.

Just after 10p.m. Monday, deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person at a business in the 4200 block of NW Topeka Boulevard in Topeka, according to Sgt. Todd Stallbaumer.

When deputies arrived, they located a man and woman on the property.  Deputies determined a Hyundai Sonata driven by the man was reported stolen out of the city of Topeka. 

Deputies attempted to arrest the him but he ran from the scene.  After a brief foot pursuit, the suspect later identified as 27-year-old Lyle J. Beaty of Topeka was detained and arrested. 

 Beaty is being held on requested charges of possession of stolen property and interference with a law enforcement officer.
