KIOWA COOUNTY —Authorities are cleaning up after a train derailment in Kiowa County.
Just before 8a.m. Thursday, approximately 39 rail cars on a Union Pacific train derailed near Highway 54 and 25th Avenue in Greensburg, according to a Jill Micek with Union Pacific. No one was hurt and there were no hazardous releases. Cleanup is underway and the cause is under investigation.
The Kansas Department of Transportation is assisting with diverting traffic, according to the Kiowa County Sheriff. "Please don’t be distracted while driving so we can keep everyone safe."
