CALLAWAY COUNTY—Troopers responded to a crash Tuesday on Interstate 70 in Callaway County, Missouri and found 500 pounds of packaged marijuana scattered around.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol a 2007 GMC Sierra driven by David A. Mora Navarro, 24, Country of Mexico, was eastbound on Interstate 70 just west of Route D.
The driver lost control of the pickup and rear-ended a 2020 International semi driven by Ronell L. Franklin, 38, Florissant, who was attempting to avoid a previous accident.

A 2016 Peterbilt semi driven by Glenn M. Doyle, 53, Joplin, traveled off the left side of the road and struck the pickup.
EMS transported Navarro and passengers 32-year-old Victor M. Gonzalez Acosta and 37-year-old Edith L. Daniel Lerma both of the country of Mexico to University Hospital in Columbia.

Franklin and Doyle were not injured. Authorities also arrested Navarro and Acosta on requested charges of Felony first-degree drug trafficking, according to online jail records. Gonzalez was also not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
