MANHATTAN, Kan. – After posting a 6-3 record and leading the Big 12 in strikeouts during the regular season, K-State starting pitcher Jordan Wicks was named to Collegiate Baseball’s All-America Third Team, the publication announced Thursday.

Wicks, an All-Big 12 First Team selection, led the Wildcats with six victories to go with a 3.70 earned run average. Wicks struck out a single-season program record 118 batters to lead the Big 12 during the regular season. His 230 career strikeouts are the most ever by a Wildcat.

In 15 starts, Wicks turned in seven quality efforts, going at least five innings in every start this season. He totaled a team-high 92 1/3 innings, issuing just 28 walks, with opponents hitting .249 against him.

He was twice named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week this season in addition to his All-Big 12 First Team selection.

The sophomore left-hander becomes the first Wildcat to earn All-America (third team or better) honors from Collegiate Baseball since 2013. Wicks was a Preseason All-America Third Team pick by Collegiate Baseball prior to the 2021 campaign.

Wicks was tabbed a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball following the 2019 season. Additionally in 2019, he was named Big 12 Freshman of the Year and All-Big 12 Second Team.

Wicks, a projected first-round pick in the upcoming MLB Draft, is the 31st All-American in program history and first under third-year head coach Pete Hughes.

K-State finished the 2021 season with a 34-23 record, its highest win total since 45 in 2013. The Wildcats advanced to the semifinal round of the 2021 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship last week to mark their longest tournament run since making the title game in 2008.
