After almost 4 months police capture Kansas murder suspect

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities  investigating the fatal shooting in May of 39-year-old Brandon M. Drew of Topeka have made an arrest.

On Tuesday, police arrested 32-year-old Sydney Slaughter of Kansas City, Kansas, according to Police Captain Jerry Monasmith.

Slaughter was transported to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections and is being held on requested charges of Murder in the 1st Degree.

Just after 2 p.m. May 15, police responded to a shooting in the 3500 block of SW Kerry Avenue in Topeka. First responders found Drew with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for the injuries. He died later that day.
