Student arrested after alleged verbal threat at Kansas school

GRAY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities and USD 371 officials are investigating alleged verbal threats have made an arrest.

A case for criminal threats by a juvenile in Montezuma will be made to the Gray County attorney and an arrest has been made, according to the sheriff's department.

"The threats made are taken seriously as they should be in this day and age," the sheriff's department wrote.

Law enforcement conducted a  weapons sweep of the building to further verify the campus is secure, according to a message from Superintendent Jay Zeher. 

"I am completely confident the situation has been resolved and attendance at school is as safe as it was prior to receiving this threat."
