BARTON COUNTY—A Kansas man died in an accident just after 12:30p.m. Thursday in Barton County.
On Wednesday at about 12:30 p.m., the Barton County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a collision at the intersection of NW 40 Avenue and Northwest 110 Road. This location is about ½ mile north of the Boyd elevator.
A 2012 Dodge charger driven by a 15-year-old Olmitz boy was eastbound on Northwest 110 Road, according to Sheriff Brian Bellendir.
Evidence indicates the driver failed to stop for a stop sign at NW 40 Avenue and struck a northbound 1998 Buick Century driven by Glenn Stricker, 92 of Great Bend.A
After impact, both vehicles continued into the east ditch with the Stricker vehicle rolling 1 ½ times before coming to rest, according to Bellendir.
Stricker was pronounced dead at the scene by the Barton County Coroner’s Office. The teen sustained minor injuries and was transported to Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington and released.
The roadway was closed for approximately 90 minutes while the accident was investigated.
The accident remains under investigation, according to Bellendir.
