RUSSELL COUNTY —Authorities investigating a fatal crash in Russell County have identified the victims.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that just before 8:30p.m. Friday, a 2014 Toyota 4-Runner driven by George C. Gier, 40, Russell, was southbound on 179th Street six miles west of U.S. 281
The SUV entered the west ditch, ramped a field entrance, became air borne and rolled to a stop on its roof.
Gier and a passenger 10-year-old Cooper Gier of Russell were pronounced dead at the scene and transported Pohlman Varner Peeler. They were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
