SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a fatal shooting.

Just after 1p.m. Monday, police responded to a shooting call at apartments in the 2700 block of South St. Francis in Wichita, according to officer Charley Davidson.

The victim, a man in his late 40s to early 50s, reportedly walked down the stairs of the apartment complex and called 911 to report he had been shot.

EMS transported him to a nearby hospital with life threatening injuries where he later died, according to Davidson. It is not believed to be a random incident.
