Sheriff asks for help to locate driver who fled Kan. rollover crash

BARTON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a rollover accident and asking the public for help locating a driver who fled the scene.

Just before 10p.m. Saturday, deputies responded to report of a rollover accident in the 100 block of NE. 10th Road in rural Barton County, according to Sheriff Brian Bellendir.

They discovered a 1998 Buick Park Avenue was not occupied and later located victims of the accident at the hospital in Great Bend.

Five juveniles were involved in the collision. Three were 14 years of age, one 15 years old and one 17-year-old. At least one sustained serious spinal injuries. Another juvenile sustained injuries requiring medical attention.

Investigators learned the vehicle was operated by Adan Hernandez Jr., 22 of Great Bend. Hernandez lost control of the vehicle. It slid into the east ditch and rolled.
