Trick Play is the title of the JCHS fall production

Trick Play is the title of the play that will be performed at Junction City High School, but there will be a delay. Originally scheduled Friday night it has been moved to Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at  the Warren Settles Auditorium.

Brian Hagemeister, who directs the show, said the production is about a soccer conference that is occurring at an older hotel. "The girl is struggling to get a big name soccer star there to draw people into the conference. The guy that's trying to impress her sees that his sister is the spitting image of the soccer star that was originally supposed to come. So he has her pretend that she is that soccer star and she knows absolutely nothing about soccer. So then they have to get a soccer coach to teach her about the sport." Hagemeister added there are complications about the mistaken identity. Eighteen students are performing on-stage in the production.

Students tried out for the show the second week of school and began practicing about nine weeks ago. The delay in the show is due to the impact of the coronavirus.

Hagemeister is retiring

This is the final production for Brian Hagemeister at Junction City High School. He has announced his intention to retire at  the end of the school year.  It will bring an end to a 31-year career at JCHS. "Thirty-one years, lot of kids, lot of plays, 31st fall play and then building the sets for all of them. I just want to do something different, and I'm able to draw my pension after this year so I'm going to go ahead and take advantage of that."

Hagemeister said he has enjoyed all  the students and people that he worked with over the years.
