COWLEY COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 9:30a.m. Tuesday in Cowley County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2023 Western Star Cement Mixer driven by Velz, Charles Raymond Velz, 50, Winfield, was eastbound at 2500 West 9th Avenue in Winfield.
The vehicle left the roadway, struck a culvert, and partially overturned in the south ditch. The driver was ejected from the vehicle.
EMS transported Velz to William Newton Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
