Police ID 16-year-old who died in work accident at KC-area landfill

KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal work accident at a Kansas City-area landfill have identified the victim as 16-year-old William M. Hampton of Lee’s Summit, according to a statement from Lee's Summit Police.

Just after 10a.m. Thursday, officers and emergency crews responded to the Lee’s Summit Resource Recovery Park in the 2100 block of SE Hamblen Road on the report of an injured person, according to Lee's Summit  Police.

 When officers arrived, they located Hampton, an employee of a private company who had become pinned between a tractor trailer rig and its trailer.

EMS transported the injured boy to a local trauma center where he was pronounced dead.  The

The incident occurred on property within the Lee’s Summit Resource Recovery Park leased from the City of Lee’s Summit by a private third-party company.
