SEDGWICK COUNTY —Two people died in an accident just before 2:30a.m. Wednesday in Sedgwick County
A Lexus GS350 driven by Juma Ahmad, 20, Wichita, was westbound in the 6200 Block of East Pawnee, according to Sheriff's Lt. Nathan Gibbs. The Lexus left the road, struck a utility pole, rolled and all three occupants were ejected.
The rear passenger Carol Chakra, 19, Wichita, was pronounced deceased on scene, according to Gibbs. EMS transported the front seat passenger Lian Awadi 19, Wichita, to a local hospital in critical condition and she later died. Ahmad was treated at a local hospital and released.
The second vehicle at the scene did not have any physical contact with the Lexus however the occupants knew the individuals involved in the collision. It does not appear alcohol was a factor in the crash at this time. Speed is a likely factor however the incident is still under investigation.
