Just after 9:30 Saturday,  a homeowner in the area of 245th and S. Prospect, approximately 36 miles south of Kansas City, reported a suspicious vehicle and a man  running from a barn on their property, according to the Cass County Sheriff's office.

Deputies arrived in the area and determined that the vehicle had been reported stolen to the Bates County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday.

Deputies set up a perimeter of the area and began a search with the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Sheriff’s Office UAVs.

The Sheriff’s Office issued an Everbridge call to residents in the area advising them of the ongoing operation.
