On Thursday evening police reported the arrest of 21-year-old Cordarius Gowdy; 18-year-old Damerius McGee both of Ogden and Christopher Stowers, 21, of Manhattan on requested charges&nbsp; of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery and one count of firing into an occupied dwelling.

 The driver, Stephanie Renee Craddock, 41, of Topeka, was arrested on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and interference with law enforcement.

RCPD: 3 arrested for shooting at large house party in Manhattan

KANSAS CITY — A&nbsp;former Kansas City police detective&nbsp;convicted in the 2019 death of a Black man is now in custody of the Missouri Department of Corrections.

Eric&nbsp;DeValkenaere, 45, is being held in the Western Reception and Diagnostic Corrections&nbsp; Center in St. Joseph, according to online jail records.

Last week,&nbsp;DeValkenaere's attorney announced he&nbsp; plans another appeal in the case. The&nbsp;lawyer asked appeals court judges to reinstate&nbsp;DeValkenaere's bond so he can remain free pending requests for a rehearing or an appeal to the Missouri Supreme Court.

The former officer had been&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/crime-police-shootings-kansas-city-kansas-cdc43324871862f01222a6ca29ef317f">free on bond</a>&nbsp;during his initial appeal, but judges revoked bond after&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/kansas-city-police-shooting-974b3aa6e4736005b553672489bb46ea">upholding his conviction</a>&nbsp;of second-degree manslaughter and armed criminal action in the death of 26-year-old Cameron Lamb.

DeValkenaere surrendered himself October 17 and was transferred from a Platte County jail to state prison this week.

Republican Attorney General Andrew Bailey's office supports DeValkenaere's bond request. Bailey has played&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/detective-fatal-shooting-attorney-general-appeal-16957c1b9f09d91e17e3a3cfb75c1a07">an unusual role</a>&nbsp;in the former detective's case, in June asking the appeals court to reverse DeValkenaere’s conviction or order a new trial. In Missouri, the attorney general’s office handles criminal appeals and typically defends convictions, rather than appealing them.

Rumors have swirled that Republican Missouri Gov. Mike Parson was considering pardoning or granting clemency to DeValkenaere, although on Tuesday spokesperson Johnathan Shiflett said in an email that the governor is “assessing the situation” and no decision has been reached on whether to grant a pardon.

Lamb’s stepfather, Aqil Bey, during an October 18, press conference asked Parson to think about Lamb when deciding whether to pardon DeValkenaere.

“We pray that he take into consideration who Cameron Lamb was, what he would offer this city and could offer this city as an upstanding citizen (and) as a father to his children,” Bey said.

Kansas City Law Enforcement Accountability Project founder Steve Young asked supporters to call Parson and request that he not pardon DeValkenaere.

“He has one foot in and one foot out (of jail),” Young said. “Who gets that kind of privilege?”

DeValkenaere, who is white, was&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/crime-police-shootings-race-and-ethnicity-kansas-city-933d3aba9b37c83145fba5818d557c02">found guilty</a>&nbsp;in 2021 in the death of Lamb, who was parking a pickup truck in his backyard in Kansas City when the officer shot him.

The judge who found DeValkenaere guilty in a bench trial said police were the initial aggressors and had a duty to retreat, but DeValkenaere illegally used deadly force instead.

Prosecutors and Lamb’s family have alleged a handgun was planted after the shooting, but that issue was not addressed by Jackson County Circuit Court Presiding Judge J. Dale Youngs when he convicted the detective.

On October 16, a three-judge panel ruled unanimously there had been enough evidence to convict DeValkenaere. He had been&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/article/crime-police-shootings-kansas-city-kansas-cdc43324871862f01222a6ca29ef317f">sentenced to three years</a>&nbsp;in prison for involuntary manslaughter and six years for armed criminal action, with the sentences to run consecutively.

Police said DeValkenaere and his partner, Troy Schwalm, went to Lamb’s home after reports he'd been chasing his girlfriend’s convertible in a stolen pickup truck. DeValkenaere said he fired after Lamb pointed a gun at another detective. The judge said the officers had no probable cause to believe any crime had been committed, had no warrant for Lamb’s arrest, and had no search warrant or consent to be on the property.

Ex-KC officer who killed Black man moved to prison

Authorities have confirmed the arrest of Demetrius Jones, 34, wanted in Columbia, South Carolina on a murder allegation. Junction City Police Chief John&nbsp; Lamb said Jones was arrested by police following a flock camera system alert that led to a traffic stop off of U.S. 77 in the 100 block of West 8th Street Wednesday morning.

Jones is incarcerated in the Geary County Detention Center. According to authorities there was a shooting incident in Columbia that led to the death of one person and injury to a second.

Lamb explained that JCPD has 11 cameras in their flocking system which can read license plates on vehicles and then run the information through the National Crime Information Center, and on local warrants as well. The cameras are located near various entrances to the community. They were installed early this summer.

 Lamb confirmed there plans to add 12 more cameras to the system in Junction City in the future.

Junction City police arrest a suspect wanted for murder in South Carolina

KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement authorities&nbsp; investigating a deadly shooting have identified the victim as Jo D. Crawford, 26, of Kansas City.

Just after 8:30p.m. Monday, police&nbsp;were dispatched to the 4200 block of Benton Boulevard in Kansas City on a sound of shots call, according to Police Sergeant Jacob Becchina

While officers were on the way they received several more 911 calls for sound of gunshots. On arrival officers located evidence of gunfire at the location. Minutes later Central Patrol officers were dispatched to University Health for a shooting victim later identified as Crawford who showed up by private vehicle. 

The shooting was reported to have happened at the 4200 block of Benton location. That shooting victim, an adult male, was declared deceased at the hospital.

Police ID victim in latest deadly Kansas City shooting 

SEDGWICK COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a fatal traffic crash have made an arrest.

Just after 10p.m. Tuesday, police were dispatched to a traffic collision involving an SUV and pedestrian at the intersection of 13th and Greenwich in Wichita, according to Officer Kris Gupilan.

Preliminary findings from the investigation revealed that 71-year-old Bill Wineinger had been involved&nbsp; collision with a Ford Explorer at the intersection. 

All parties involved in the initial collision sustained non-life-threatening injuries. As Mr. Wineinger exited his vehicle to assess the damage, a black Toyota 4-Runner, traveling east on 13th Street entered the intersection and struck Wineinger's vehicle.&nbsp; The impact caused it to hit him. This secondary collision caused fatal injuries to Wineinger.

Police took the driver of the 4-Runner, identified as a 41-year-old woman from&nbsp; Wichita, into custody and and she was booked on requested charges of Involuntary Manslaughter. Police have not released her name as they continue to investigate.

This is the 28th traffic fatality for the year.

Driver jailed after SUV strikes, kills Kan. man at scene of earlier crash

RILEY COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect for alleged rape.

According to the Riley County Police Department activity report, police arrested 19-year-old Trenton Bunnell of Kansas City Tuesday afternoon on a Riley County District Court warrant for rape. 

The original charge was reported in July 2022. Bunnell. He remains jailed&nbsp; on a bond of $75,000.

The JCPD has reported the arrest of a 21-year old Junction City man, Andre Taiquez Baker, on recommended charges of 1st Degree Murder and Interference with LEO.

The arrest occurred at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Junction City Police Department. Specific details have not yet been released by police but JC Post will provide more information as soon as it is available. The investigation is continuing.

Junction City police make an arrest on a murder allegation

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A poison specialist and former medical resident at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota is charged with fatally poisoning his wife, a 32-year-old pharmacist and Kansas native, who died days after she went to a hospital in August with stomach distress.

Authorities say Connor Bowman, 30, tried to stop the autopsy on his wife, Betty Bowman — arguing she should be cremated immediately and claiming she had a rare illness, which hospital tests did not confirm. The medical examiner's office halted the order for cremation, citing suspicious circumstances, according to a criminal complaint, and an autopsy showed Betty Bowman died from toxic effects of colchicine, a medicine used to treat gout.

Medical records indicate she was not diagnosed with gout and had not been prescribed the medicine, the complaint states, adding that Connor Bowman had been researching the drug prior to his wife's death. Six days before she was hospitalized, he had also converted his wife's weight to kilograms and multiplied that by 0.8 — with 0.8 mg/kg considered to be the lethal dosage rate for colchicine, according to the complaint.

Connor Bowman was charged Monday with second-degree murder. He was arrested Friday and was still in custody as of Tuesday. His attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Associated Press.

Mayo Clinic spokesperson Amanda Dyslin released a statement Tuesday that did not identify Bowman by name, but indicated he was a resident at the hospital.

“We are aware of the recent arrest of a former Mayo Clinic resident on charges unrelated to his Mayo Clinic responsibilities. The resident’s training at Mayo Clinic ended earlier this month," the statement said. Dyslin did not say why Connor Bowman’s training at Mayo Clinic ended.

Betty Bowman was also a pharmacist at Mayo Clinic.

According to the criminal complaint, the Southeast Minnesota Medical Examiner's Office alerted police to the “suspicious death” of Betty Bowman on Aug. 21, a day after she died.

She had been admitted to a hospital in Rochester on Aug. 16 with “severe gastrointestinal distress and dehydration where her condition deteriorated rapidly,” the complaint said. Her initial symptoms were similar to food poisoning and were treated that way, but they continued to worsen. She experienced cardiac issues, fluid in her lungs and organ failure.

While Betty Bowman was in the hospital, Connor Bowman suggested she was suffering from a rare illness called hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, or HLH. Hospital tests came back inconclusive for HLH, but Connor Bowman told multiple people that she died from that disease, according to the complaint.

He also told the medical examiner's office that Betty Bowman's death was natural and that she “did not want to be a cadaver,” and therefore, the autopsy should be canceled, the complaint said. He asked an investigator at the medical examiner's office if the toxicology analysis would be more thorough than the analysis done at the hospital.

The night before Betty Bowman went to the hospital, she told a man — identified as SS in the complaint — that she was drinking at home with Connor Bowman. The next morning, she told SS she was sick, possibly from a drink that was mixed into a large smoothie.

Connor Bowman was a poison specialist and answered calls about poisons, using devices from the University of Kansas for his work, according to the complaint. A woman from the University of Kansas told investigators that Connor Bowman had been researching colchicine, the drug used to treat gout, though he had not received any calls about colchicine, nor had any other employees.

Investigators found that Connor Bowman had searched “internet browsing history: can it be used in court?” and “delete amazon data police” on Aug. 5. He did calculations that match the lethal dosage rate for colchicine on Aug. 10.

The Minnesota Department of Health found colchicine in Betty Bowman's blood and urine samples that were taken at the hospital, and the medical examiner determined the cause of death to be toxic effects of colchicine, the complaint says.

One woman told investigators that the Bowmans had been talking about divorce, and another told authorities that Connor Bowman said he was going to get $500,000 in life insurance from his wife's death, the complaint says. Authorities found a receipt for a $450,000 bank deposit inside his home.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 1

Betty Bowman was born in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy with a Pharmaceutical Doctorate in 2017 and completed residency at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas in 2018, according <a href="https://mackenfuneralhome.com/memorial-services/betty-jo-bowman/">to her obituary.</a>

 </figure>MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A poison specialist and former medical resident at Mayo Clinic in Minnesota is charged with fatally poisoning his wife, a 32-year-old pharmacist and Kansas native, who died days after she went to a hospital in August with stomach distress.Authorities say Connor Bowman, 30, tried to stop the autopsy on his wife, Betty Bowman — arguing she should be cremated immediately and claiming she had a rare illness, which hospital tests did not confirm. The medical examiner's office halted the order for cremation, citing suspicious circumstances, according to a criminal complaint, and an autopsy showed Betty Bowman died from toxic effects of colchicine, a medicine used to treat gout.Medical records indicate she was not diagnosed with gout and had not been prescribed the medicine, the complaint states, adding that Connor Bowman had been researching the drug prior to his wife's death. Six days before she was hospitalized, he had also converted his wife's weight to kilograms and multiplied that by 0.8 — with 0.8 mg/kg considered to be the lethal dosage rate for colchicine, according to the complaint.Connor Bowman was charged Monday with second-degree murder. He was arrested Friday and was still in custody as of Tuesday. His attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment from The Associated Press.Mayo Clinic spokesperson Amanda Dyslin released a statement Tuesday that did not identify Bowman by name, but indicated he was a resident at the hospital.“We are aware of the recent arrest of a former Mayo Clinic resident on charges unrelated to his Mayo Clinic responsibilities. The resident’s training at Mayo Clinic ended earlier this month," the statement said. Dyslin did not say why Connor Bowman’s training at Mayo Clinic ended.Betty Bowman was also a pharmacist at Mayo Clinic.According to the criminal complaint, the Southeast Minnesota Medical Examiner's Office alerted police to the “suspicious death” of Betty Bowman on Aug. 21, a day after she died.She had been admitted to a hospital in Rochester on Aug. 16 with “severe gastrointestinal distress and dehydration where her condition deteriorated rapidly,” the complaint said. Her initial symptoms were similar to food poisoning and were treated that way, but they continued to worsen. She experienced cardiac issues, fluid in her lungs and organ failure.While Betty Bowman was in the hospital, Connor Bowman suggested she was suffering from a rare illness called hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, or HLH. Hospital tests came back inconclusive for HLH, but Connor Bowman told multiple people that she died from that disease, according to the complaint.He also told the medical examiner's office that Betty Bowman's death was natural and that she “did not want to be a cadaver,” and therefore, the autopsy should be canceled, the complaint said. He asked an investigator at the medical examiner's office if the toxicology analysis would be more thorough than the analysis done at the hospital.The night before Betty Bowman went to the hospital, she told a man — identified as SS in the complaint — that she was drinking at home with Connor Bowman. The next morning, she told SS she was sick, possibly from a drink that was mixed into a large smoothie.Connor Bowman was a poison specialist and answered calls about poisons, using devices from the University of Kansas for his work, according to the complaint. A woman from the University of Kansas told investigators that Connor Bowman had been researching colchicine, the drug used to treat gout, though he had not received any calls about colchicine, nor had any other employees.Investigators found that Connor Bowman had searched “internet browsing history: can it be used in court?” and “delete amazon data police” on Aug. 5. He did calculations that match the lethal dosage rate for colchicine on Aug. 10.The Minnesota Department of Health found colchicine in Betty Bowman's blood and urine samples that were taken at the hospital, and the medical examiner determined the cause of death to be toxic effects of colchicine, the complaint says.One woman told investigators that the Bowmans had been talking about divorce, and another told authorities that Connor Bowman said he was going to get $500,000 in life insurance from his wife's death, the complaint says. Authorities found a receipt for a $450,000 bank deposit inside his home.He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 1Betty Bowman was born in Wichita, Kansas and graduated from the University of Kansas School of Pharmacy with a Pharmaceutical Doctorate in 2017 and completed residency at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas in 2018, according <a href="https://mackenfuneralhome.com/memorial-services/betty-jo-bowman/">to her obituary.</a>

Doctor accused of fatally poisoning his wife, a Kansas native

SHAWNEE, Kan. (AP) — Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Justyn Ross pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges of misdemeanor domestic battery and criminal damage to property and was expected to be released later in the day after posting $2,500 bond.

Ross is due again in court on Dec. 4. The Chiefs said they were aware of his arrest but had no comment.

Ross was arrested Monday and the sheriff's offense in Johnson County, Kansas, originally indicated on his booking record that he was accused of causing damage of up to $25,000, which would have been a felony. That total was adjusted to under $1,000.

The 23-year-old Ross has been a bit player for the defending Super Bowl champions this season. He has been active in their first seven games but has just three catches for 34 yards on the year.

The fact that he is playing at all is noteworthy. After a standout first two seasons at Clemson, Ross was found to have a congenital fusion condition in his neck and spinal area that required career-threatening surgery. Ross returned to play another season for the Tigers, then turned professional, where the Chiefs were one of the few teams willing to clear him medically to play.

🏈 Chiefs receiver charged with domestic battery and criminal damage

BARTON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects in connection with a car theft in Barton County.

Just after 10:30a.m.&nbsp; Oct. 20, police were dispatched to report of a car theft in the 2200 block of Tyler Street in Great Bend, according to a media release.

Officers were advised a 2015 Nissan Altima was taken from this location within the last few minutes. While officers were still on scene, a State Trooper with the Kansas Highway Patrol spotted a vehicle matching the description eastbound on Highway 56, exiting the City of Great Bend.&nbsp;

As the State Trooper turned around to check the vehicle, the car stopped on the shoulder of the road and two occupants fled from the vehicle. Kansas Highway Patrol troopers and the Barton County Sheriff's Office were able to locate and detain both suspects.

Joshua Kelly was arrested on requested charges of theft of a motor vehicle. Tyler Partington was a passenger in the vehicle and was also arrested on charges from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

KHP helps catch two suspects in stolen car

KANSAS CITY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on multiple allegations after a police chase and crash.

Just before 11p.m. Sunday., Sugar Creek Police notified officers in Liberty that they were involved in a vehicle pursuit which was coming into the city Liberty, according to a media release.

A short time later, police learned the suspect's vehicle had crashed into a house and the suspect fled on foot.

Officers quickly located the suspect and engaged in a foot pursuit. After a short distance, police took the person into custody. 

A person in the house sustained serious injuries. EMS transported them to a hospital. On Tuesday, police identified the suspect as 28-year-old Brandon Trent of Kansas City. On Monday, the Clay County Prosecutor's Office charged him with Assault 2nd Degree, Felony Resisting Arrest and Property Damage 1st Degree.&nbsp; He is scheduled for court on Thursday, according to online jail records.

Chiefs wide receiver arrested in Kansas on felony allegations

PRATT COUNTY –&nbsp;The Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Monday morning on U.S. Highway 54, about five miles west of Pratt, Kansas.

According to a media release from the KBI, preliminary information indicates that a motor carrier inspector from the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) observed a silver 2016 Honda Odyssey on the side of U.S. Highway 54 in Kingman County and stopped to offer aid.&nbsp;

He ran the vehicle’s tag, and before the tag returned the van departed heading west. The tag then came back stolen out of Saline County, so KHP and deputies from the Kingman County Sheriff’s Office attempted to locate the vehicle.

They found the van stopped along the highway and positioned patrol vehicles in front of and behind it. The female driver then rammed a Kingman County patrol car and fled. A chase ensued and entered Pratt County, at which time the Pratt County Sheriff’s Office joined. During the pursuit the male and female occupants switched who was driving.

Law enforcement deployed stop sticks several times during the chase, attempting to slow the van. It came to a stop in the parking lot at the Casey’s convenience store at 1900 E. 1st&nbsp;in Pratt. The female passenger, later identified as Abyana Parker, 22, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, exited the vehicle and ran. A deputy with the Kingman County Sheriff’s Office deployed a taser during her arrest. Parker was arrested for aggravated battery against a law enforcement officer, flee and elude, operating a stolen vehicle, interference with law enforcement, and criminal damage to property.

Meanwhile, the male subject, later identified as 29-year-old Ulysses M. Parker II, of Colorado Springs, fled in the opposite direction. He forced the occupant of a white 2007 F-350 pickup that was pulling a trailer and water tank out of the vehicle and stole it. Parker fled west on U.S. Highway 54, crossing the center line multiple times, endangering motorists and forcing at least one driver off the road. Parker then made a loop in a field and began heading back east, toward Pratt. Stop sticks were deployed and the vehicle eventually came to a stop.&nbsp;During the incident a deputy from the Pratt County Sheriff’s Office fired multiple times into the truck, and Parker was struck in the arm.

He was transported to a Wichita hospital where he was treated for his injuries. Parker was later released and was arrested for aggravated assault. Additional charges are expected. Both subjects were booked into the Kingman County Jail.

The KBI will conduct a thorough and independent investigation into this shooting. Once completed the findings will be presented to the Pratt County Attorney for review.

PRATT COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Mondayon U.S. Highway 54, west of Pratt, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

A deputy with the Pratt County Sheriff’s Office shot a suspect during a vehicle chase. The suspect has been transported to an area hospital. 

&nbsp;No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.

KBI IDs suspect wounded in Kan. officer-involved shooting

On October 19, 2023, the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office's Criminal Investigations Division conducted an investigation into child sex crimes, according to Sheriff Brian Hill.

Deputies arrested 39-year-old Craig H. Miller, 39, of Topeka and booked him into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of attempted electronic solicitation of a child, attempted indecent liberties with a child, attempted aggravated criminal sodomy, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Just before 1:30a.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to a possible shooting in the 1500 block of SW 21st Street in Topeka, according to Police Lt. Michael Hren.

First responders located two men, one with possible life threatening injuries and one with non-life threatening injuries. Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Investigators arrested 22-year-old Rajhgerio Smith and transported him to the Shawnee Count Department of Corrections on requested charges of Aggravated Battery.

Kan.  man captured in shooting that sent 2 to the hospital

ALLEN COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects on multiple allegations after an altercation with police.

Just before 9p.m. Oct. 16, a Jasper, Missouri&nbsp; police officer responded to a disturbance in progress at Pete’s Convenience Store in Jasper.  Upon arrival, the officer made contact with 26-year-old Raven Gomez and 45-year-old Brandon David both of Columbia. 

 During a pat search for weapons on Gomez, she punched the officer in the face, knocked the female officer  to the ground causing her to hit her head on the pavement. 

 The hit to the pavement caused the officer to become disoriented

 Brandon David got out of the passenger seat of the suspect vehicle, and punched the female officer several times in the face and then ran around to the driver’s seat of the patrol vehicle and it appears he was attempting to steal it.

Police believe he wasn’t smart enough to figure out how to put the vehicle in drive due to the different gear shift newer vehicles have.

   Gomez who was the driver of the suspect vehicle got into her vehicle and while backing up, the vehicle’s tire ran over the officer’s foot, and again ran over the officer’s foot when moving forward. 

David ended up getting out of the patrol vehicle and back into the suspect vehicle.  The two were able to get away, last seen northbound on Interstate 49 in a dark blue Chevy Cruze with a Missouri license of BG1B5C. 

&nbsp;The officer was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for her injuries and released.&nbsp;

Deputies tracked these two down to a property five miles southeast of Moran, Kansas Wednesday evening.&nbsp; Deputies and assisted by&nbsp;Bourbon County Kansas Sheriff's Office&nbsp;deputies, took the suspects into custody without incident. 

Jasper County prosecutors have officially filed 1st degree assault charges on both Gomez and David with bond set at $50,000 cash only and other conditions. They face additional charges in Kansas.

The two were able to get away, last seen northbound on Interstate 49 in a dark blue Chevy Cruze with a Missouri license of BG1B5C. &nbsp;The officer was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for her injuries and released.&nbsp;Deputies tracked these two down to a property five miles southeast of Moran, Kansas Wednesday evening.&nbsp; Deputies and assisted by&nbsp;Bourbon County Kansas Sheriff's Office&nbsp;deputies, took the suspects into custody without incident. Jasper County prosecutors have officially filed 1st degree assault charges on both Gomez and David with bond set at $50,000 cash only and other conditions. They face additional charges in Kansas.

Couple accused of punching Missouri officer arrested in Kansas

SHAWNEE COUNTY – A Kansas woman accused in the shooting death of her 4-year-old daughter has been charged&nbsp; in the case.

&nbsp;Mariann L. Belair, 24, of Topeka, was charged with Felony Murder, Aggravated endangering a child and distribution of meth, according to&nbsp;Shawnee County District Attorney's office

On Saturday, police responded to a shooting in the 400 block of NE Grattan Street in Topeka, according to Police Lt. Donna Eubanks.

&nbsp;Officers were able to secure the scene and located&nbsp;4-year-old Lawrencia Perez-Belair  who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound.&nbsp; The girl was transported to a local hospital and died.

By Saturday afternoon, police reported they had identified all individuals involved and early Sunday reported the arrest of Belair.&nbsp; She is being held on a&nbsp;$1,000,000.00 bond, according to online jail records.

Kan. woman held on $1 million bond in murder of daughter

SALINE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a home invasion robbery are asking for help to located a suspect.

Just before 9:30p.m. September 20, Police Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of North Penn Aveue in Salina, regarding an armed robbery.

Three victims inside the home reported two subjects entered the back door unannounced and demanded money. One of the suspects threatened the victims with a long gun, while the second suspect was in possession of a knife.

While trying to disarm the suspects, one of the victims was stabbed with the knife. The suspects fled the area prior to police arrival.

A Saline County District Court arrest warrant has been issued in this case for 41-year-old Phyroom “Thaloe” Ketkan of Salina. Salina Police are looking for information on his whereabouts as well any information on the second suspect involved.

Search continues for Kan. home invasion, robbery suspect

ELLIS COUNTY — Jauwon Allen was located and arrested by the Hays Police Department Special Situation Response Team, according to a post on the HPD Facebook page.

Police released no additional details early Saturday.

On Friday evening, Hays Police reported that they believe Allen is no longer in Hays.&nbsp;

Police reported that they were seeking&nbsp;assistance in locating a the violent offender with a probation violation arrest warrant who fled from officers on Friday.

Allen is described as a black male,&nbsp; 5-foo-7 and around 200 pounds. He has a goatee and may be wearing a white tank top, grey sweatpants, and have a long-sleeve sweatshirt that is blue and red. If you see Jauwon Allen, do not approach him and call 911.

Allen has previous felony convictions for kidnapping, robbery, aggravated battery and aggravated escape from custody, according to the Kansas Dept. of Corrections.

Local law enforcement officials are looking for a fugitive male from community corrections in Hays.

Police capture wanted Kansas felon in western Kansas

BUTLER COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities investigating an alleged road incident that left a man dead have charged a suspect.

Just after 1 p.m. October 8, police responded to a reported battery at the Jump Start convenience store in the 1600 block of West Central in El Dorado, according to a media release. First responders found 74-year-old&nbsp; Alton Algrim of Leon, Kansas, with injuries in connection with an alleged road rage incident. EMS transported the victim to a Wichita hospital.&nbsp;

Following an investigation, officers arrested 23-year-old Ashton McCoy on requested charges of aggravated battery. The charge against McCoy was amended this week to first-degree murder following Algrim's death.&nbsp; He is no longer in custody, according to online jail records.

Police did not release details on what occurred between the two men or the victim's injuries.

Anyone with additional information in the case is asked to call&nbsp;Detective Devin Haines at (316) 321-9120.

Just before midnight October 17, a sheriff's deputy conducted a traffic stop on a black 2013 Chevrolet Malibu with excessive window tint on all windows near SE 25th Street and SE Burr Street, according to Deputy Abigail Christian.

During the investigation, illegal narcotics, drug paraphernalia, firearms and ammunition were located.

The driver, Jaquiez R. Spann-Samuel, 23, of Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee on requested charges of criminal use of a weapon, distribution of certain hallucinogens, possession of a narcotic, distribution of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, no drug tax stamp, unlawful acquisition of proceeds from drug transactions, excessive window tint, driving while license suspended, no vehicle liability insurance and two warrants for his arrest out of Shawnee County.

Excessive car window tinting led to Kansas drug bust

JOHNSON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on multiple charges after a unique arrest in northeast Kansas.

Earlier this week, an individual tried to stroll out of a local retailer with thousands of dollars in merchandise in his cart without paying, according to a media release from Lenexa Police.

Store employees were able to intercept the suspect and retrieve their merchandise before the suspect could exit with it.

 As the suspect left the area in his car, police dispatchers found him on street cameras and relayed his location to responding officers who attempted a traffic stop.&nbsp;

The suspect would not stop. Unfortunately for the suspect, the Lenexa police car was equipped with the Grappler Police Bumper. Much to the shock of the suspect, police brought his car to a stop and took him into custody.

 He has since been charged by the Johnson County District Attorney's Office with attempted felony theft and fleeing and eluding a police officer. 

The suspect was also wanted on an unrelated felony case in Missouri. "This is another example of great police work, teamwork between dispatchers and officers, and the use of innovative equipment to combat crime. In Lenexa, we will not have a reputation of thieves brazenly pillaging our retailers without consequence."
