Doris A. McKinley, 73, of Junction City, Kansas passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025 at Valley View Senior Life Center in Junction City.

A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Johnson and Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the visitation.

Doris was born December 19, 1951, in Washington, Kansas the daughter of Hubert and Anna Stevenson.

Doris was raised in a military family. She moved to Junction City in the late 1970's with her parents. Her father was stationed at Fort Riley. While living in Junction City, she had a long career with Valley View Senior Life as the dietary manager.

Ronald Edward Walsh, 81, known to many as Ron, embarked on his final journey on June 6, 2025, at the Good Shepherd Homecare and Hospice in Manhattan, Kansas, surrounded by the love of his family. Ron was born on December 11, 1943, in Westmoreland, Kansas, to parents Edward Michael and Betty Arletta (Releford) Walsh. Ron married Ruth Elaine Dekat on June 18, 1962, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Flush, Kansas. They shared 63 years; Ruth survives at the home. 

Ron was a skilled drywall finisher, dedicating many years to residential and commercial projects, notably with Heartland Construction and later with his own business, R.W. Drywall. Ron’s wit and quick tongue helped him in his other career as an auctioneer at R.W. Auction Service. 

Ron had many passions, one of which was caring for a hobby farm with Ruth, where they raised cattle, horses, hens, and even a few peacocks. He found joy in teaching his children and grandchildren all about horse-drawn buggies. Known for living without fear, some people would say Ron had more lives than a cat. His sobriety of 52 years was a badge of honor, and he always had time to help others overcome their challenges in their sobriety. His stubbornness was legendary, but it was always backed by a heart that overflowed with love for his family and friends. 

Ron is survived by an incredible family, including his children Rodney E. Walsh (Michelle Daugherty), Lori K. Hall (Mark), Annette C. Brownell (Clint), and David A. Walsh (Kathy). He was the proud grandfather to 15 grandchildren—Rhonda, Eric, Christopher, Dandra, Chase, Wade, Amber, Matt, Josh, Brigham, Ashley, Dexter, Amanda, Amber, and Amelia; 26 great-grandchildren with 2 on the way; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. His siblings, Jim Walsh (Nina), Rick Walsh, Barb Henry, and Mike Walsh (Diane), along with many cherished nieces and nephews, also survive him. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jerry Walsh, sister-in-law Christy Walsh, brother-in-law Marvin Henry, son-in-law Scott Manor, and great-granddaughter Aydan Manor.

Gloria Jean (Johnson) Marcus, 70, of Manhattan, KS, passed away on May 30, 2025, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.

Gloria was born on September 15, 1954, to Robert Dale Johnson and Madelyn Jean (Reck) Johnson at Junction City Municipal Hospital.

She carried with her an abundance of compassion and dedicated her life to caring for others as a geriatric nurse. Gloria attended Kansas State University from 1972 to 1974 in the pre-nursing program. She went on to earn her Associate Degree in Nursing from Wichita St. Joseph School of Nursing in 1977 and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from MidAmerica Nazarene College in 1987.

On May 18, 1981, she married her beloved husband, George E. Marcus, Jr. Together they were loving partners, parents, grandparents and friends. Gloria was welcomed into heaven just a few short weeks following the passing of George. Their joyful reunion offers comfort and peace to those who loved them both.

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Megan (Gareth) Rohr; her brothers, Robin Johnson and Rex (Bethany) Johnson; and her cherished grandchildren, Trake Ryan and Remi Wilde Rohr.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Madelyn Johnson, and her granddaughter, Madelyn Dae Rohr.

Rick was born in Junction City, Kansas to Richard Homer Ziegler and Marie Neyer Ziegler. He was the youngest of three children and is survived by his sister, Cynthia (Claire) Schmidt of Washington, and his brother, Phil (Sammy) Ziegler of Oklahoma.

From a young age, Rick had a deep love for the land and animals. You could often find him on his favorite horse, Judy, or riding his motorcycle through the pastures-herding the cattle or just simply having fun. He attended a one-room schoolhouse in the country until his freshman year at Junction City High School, where he graduated in 1962. There, he played football and wrestled. He jokingly credited those activities for the many aches and pains that he felt later in life, but also cherished the lifelong friendships and great memories he made.

Rick continued his education at Kansas State University studying agriculture. He spent his life on the farm where he grew up-a place he loved, worked and played. Rick was more than just a farmer. He was a mentor, a true friend, and a source of strength to those that knew him. He taught his kids the value of hard work, the importance of family, and to take time to appreciate the beauty of the natural world. He took great pleasure in being outside and being his own boss.

Along with farming, Rick worked full-time as an electrician, civil service at Fort Riley Irwin Army Hospital. His entrepreneurial mindset led him to take care of numerous rental properties. No matter the job, Rick would always find a way to make it fun.

When he wasn’t working, Rick could be found enjoying a beautiful day on the golf course or cruising on his motorcycle. His favorite moments were spent with his family- sharing good BBQ, followed by chocolate cake. Rick loved supporting his grandkids in all their activities, or gathering around the table for holiday card games that brought out the best in everyone.

Rick always lit up a room with his sweet smile, often followed by an ornery twinkle in his eye. He had the kindest laugh that made everyone around him happy just to be near him. Rick was one of the great Dads that made all his kids' friends feel seen and heard. The Ziegler farm was the heart for many city kids to experience life and to make memories. If it was numerous hayrack&nbsp;

rides, campouts by the pond or just playing hide-and-seek. He believed in being honest and was full of integrity and compassion. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family and friends who were fortunate enough to know him.

Rick shared 46 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Betty. Their life together was filled with love and laughter. They were best friends and true soulmates. Their very special bond was an example to their children of what hard work, compassion and resilience can achieve. Rick often said that his family was his greatest accomplishment in life.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Ziegler, and children: Kenny (Michelle) Ziegler, Lynn Ziegler, Joseph (Corey) Ziegler and Marie (Michael) Grosser. He leaves behind seven grandchildren: Danielle (Brandon) Martino, Morgan Ziegler, Dylan Ziegler, Kadyn Ziegler, Graham Ziegler, Olivia Grosser and Paige Grosser; and one great-grandson, Bennett Martino. Preceded in death by infant daughter, Laurie Sue Ziegler.

Anthony Wayne Ockomon, 70, passed away May 7, 2025 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

Tony was born to Espa and Anna Ockomon on January 29, 1955 in Winchester, Ky. Espa (aka Bob) and Mary were married when Tony was about three years old and raised him in a Godly manner.

He joined the Army in February of 1974. While in Germany, on his second tour, he met and on March 7, 1980 married the love of his life Dawn Danette Kumm. They have one daughter.

He was medically discharged after 17 years, 11 months after serving four tours in Germany – two in Pirmasens and two in Landstuhl.

Tony loved to fish and hunt always eating what he caught or killed.

He was known to say, “But God,” whenever the opportunity arose. He lived by Psalm 23, verse 4 – ‘Yeah, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil ...’ because he knew life was about the journey, not the destination.

He loved God and His Son, Jesus passionately. He joined the Christian Motorcycle Association to give him more opportunities to tell people about God. He was also a member of the Earl C. Gormley American Legion Post 45, American Legion Riders Chapter 45, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 830, all of Junction City.

Tony is survived by his wife of 45 years Dawn (Kumm) Ockomon, daughter Mandy Ockomon, and two grandchildren - Tristin Nelson Ockomon-Trajillo and Maya Faith Harlen.

&nbsp; Larry D. Garrison, 73, of Alma, Kansas, passed away on Sunday (June 1, 2025) at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Born October 11, 1951 in Salina, Kansas, Larry was the son of George Garrison and Jacqueline (Ferm) Garrison.&nbsp; He married Marilyn Rubottom on May 29, 1982 at Lake Wabaunsee, Kansas.&nbsp; Marilyn survives.

&nbsp;&nbsp; Larry was a 1969 graduate of Salina High School and attended Kansas State University.&nbsp; He was a self employed farmer, rancher and carpenter for many years.&nbsp; He remodeled old stone houses and built log cabins, and was especially proud of the home he built for Marilyn.

&nbsp;&nbsp; He was a longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church in Alma.&nbsp; Larry was active with the Boy Scouts and earned Eagle Scout in 1968.&nbsp; He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden.&nbsp; Larry was known as a “jack of all trades” and was a people person who never met a stranger.&nbsp; He will be remembered for his way of making everyone laugh.

&nbsp; Larry D. Larry Lee Minick, known affectionately by friends and family as Larry, passed away on February 16, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on November 7, 1948, in Abilene, Kansas, to Lorena and Lloyd Minick, Larry's life was one marked by dedication, service, and a boundless love for his family and community.

Larry grew up in the heart of Kansas and graduated from Chapman high school in 1966. His commitment to his country was evident early on when he joined the Armed Forces, serving from 1968 to 1971 and receiving the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. After his honorable discharge, Larry returned to his roots in Talmage, Kansas, where he embraced the life of a farmer with the same passion and dedication he had shown in the military.

In the years following, Larry, alongside his then-wife Susan, moved to Junction City. There, he transitioned from tilling the soil to cultivating relationships as a Farmers Insurance Agent. Larry's entrepreneurial spirit shone through as he established the Minick Insurance Agency, a testament to his work ethic and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. He retired in 2011 alongside his wife of many years, Mary, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism and community service. Larry and Mary later divorced in 2024.&nbsp;

Larry's love for animals was profound, and his generosity extended to the Junction City Animal Shelter and Friends of Animals, Inc.&nbsp;&nbsp;He found solace in the company of his beloved dog, Louie, with whom he traveled and explored the many scenic vistas that he so cherished. Larry's affinity for the outdoors was complemented by his skillful hands, which were often busy maintaining his John Deere machinery or tinkering with various gadgets.

He was also a sports enthusiast, known for his presence in the bleachers, camcorder in hand, capturing every moment of his daughter's volleyball matches. His support for his children's endeavors was unwavering, and his pride in their achievements was immeasurable.

Generous, friendly, and faith-filled are words that only begin to describe Larry. His warm smile and kind-hearted nature left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Larry's legacy is carried on by his loving children, Joshua Minick (Erika) of Tyler, TX, and Sarah Mitchell (Jody) of Rossville, KS. His memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren, Alexis, Emma, and Lilly, who will miss their grandfather's gentle guidance and unwavering support.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Lorena and Lloyd Minick, his sister, Mary Ann Cassell, and brother, Ronald Minick.&nbsp;

He is also survived by his sisters, Phyllis Fells of Woodbine, KS, and Connie Smith of Topeka, KS, who will fondly remember their brother's laughter and love for life.

Karen Sue (Brown) Hofmann passed away peacefully at her home in Wamego, Kansas on May 13, 2025, at the age of 75, following a short battle with cancer.

&nbsp; Susie was born on April 11,1950 in Westmoreland, Kansas to John and Laura (Enlow) Brown, the eldest of two daughters. As a young girl she and her family moved often as an active military family; she attended kindergarten in Germany and learned to ice skate in Wisconsin. In 1968 she graduated from Wamego High School, where she was active in all things choir. Soon after, she welcomed her three daughters, Jayme, Jenn, and Jill, in quick succession.

Cheryl A. McCullough, 78, of Junction City, Kansas passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Friday, May 30, 2025 at Stormont-Vail Healthcare in Topeka, Kansas.

Cheryl was born January 15, 1947, in Houston, Texas the daughter of Mary Ellen (Rummell) and Benjamin Hardwick Brown.

Cheryl attended Jane Long Elementary School and graduated from Bellaire High School both in Houston, Texas. After high school, she attended and graduated from Lon Morris College in Jacksonville, Texas.

She moved to the area in 1983. Cheryl worked for USD #475 for eighteen years. She later worked for Walmart as a cashier and stocker.

Cheryl was a devoted mother and grandmother. She fiercely advocated for her son as he grew up with asthma and stayed by his side during numerous hospitalizations. She uncharacteristically pushed the doctors to provide him care when she felt they weren't proactive enough. She made herself available at a moment's notice to watch the grandchildren at the drop of a hat when they were little. She also attended many sporting and school events. Cheryl loved to garden and carried on her mother's love of houseplants and passed the love down to her daughter and granddaughter. She adored her own and her children's dogs and cats and loved traveling with family and thoroughly enjoyed the peace and tranquility of country living and nature. Cheryl had extreme grit and showed her family grace at the end of her life and we are blessed to have her has a mother.

Her family was very important to her. She enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren.

She married Douglas Michael McCullough on February 5, 1968. They were later divorced.

Survivors include one daughter, Janet M. Trumpp (Corey) of Wakefield, Kansas; two sons, Sean L. McCullough (Jennifer) of White City, Kansas and Kevin M. McCullough of Junction City, Kansas; four grandchildren, Cody and Shawna Trumpp, Alexandria McCullough and Holly McCullough; one brother, Mike Brown (Cindy) of Salida, Colorado; one cousin, Annabess Barr of Texas.

Donald Stevens, born October 25, 1951, passed away in the early morning hours of May 31, 2025. Don was a loving and devoted husband to Carolyn Stevens, and they were married on September 10, 1983. Together, they had three sons, Matthew, Christopher, and Daniel Stevens. He welcomed two daughters-in-law into his family: Amber Stevens, who is married to Christopher Stevens, and Becky Stevens, who is married to Daniel Stevens. He was the proud grandfather of 7: Taylor Booth, Emily Stevens, Caden Stevens, Keira Stevens, Kyler Stevens, Jason Stevens, and Melissa Stevens. Don cherished a group of close friends who, over the years, became as close as family, including many children who considered him a second dad.

Don was a lifelong Junction City resident with his only time away from the community being his years in college at the Emporia Teachers College, now part of Emporia State University. He graduated from the 1969 class of Junction City High School. He attended the state wrestling tournament in his senior year of high school and continued his wrestling journey in college at Emporia. Following his graduation from the Emporia Teachers College in 1973, he returned to Junction City and began teaching at Fort Riley Middle School.

Don spent his entire teaching career at Fort Riley Middle School, teaching a variety of subjects and coaching multiple sports. He most enjoyed his time as a physical education teacher, where he regularly expressed that he got to spend his days in “glorified recess with kids.” His passion for wrestling persisted even after college, where he served as an assistant coach for Junction City High School before assuming the role of head wrestling coach at Fort Riley Middle School. Don completed his career serving 32 years as a wrestling coach. Don also served in several other sports, including volleyball, football, and golf.

Don’s involvement with Geary County sports went beyond the coaching realm. Don spent many years as the primary announcer for Junction City High School Sports. He was the Voice&nbsp;of the Blue Jays for more than twenty years, announcing for sports such as football, basketball, wrestling, soccer, and baseball.

Don’s favorite organization was the Boy Scouts of America. Don was a lifelong scout; he earned many accolades. He earned his Eagle Scout at the age of 14 and devoted his life to working with other scouts. During his career with the organization, he also earned the Silver Beaver, the highest honor awarded to adult Scouts. Don organized the Quivira District Pinewood Derby for many years. He also worked with Boy Scout Camps, such as Camp Brown in Abilene, KS, and Camp Hansen in Kirwin, KS. Don also attended and earned his Wood Badge. As a mentor in Boy Scouts, Don served as an Eagle Mentor, helping other Boy Scouts plan, develop, and submit their Eagle projects. He later served as an Eagle Board Member, where he and a team of other lifelong Scouts would analyze and evaluate Eagle Projects to determine if a Boy Scout had earned their Eagle Scout Badge. Don continued to serve in this position until his health prevented him from continuing.

Don was a pillar in the Junction City community, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a man who loved life. He will be remembered fondly by those who knew him, and he will be deeply missed by those who survive him.

Julie Anna (Hossfeld) Patteson passed away on May 26, 2025 at the age of 77 in Alma, Kansas.

Born in Horton, Kansas on July 30, 1947 to Hobert and Cleda Hossfeld, Julie spent her childhood growing up in Hiawatha, Kansas. She lived a life full of love for her family and friends and had a very strong faith.

Julie was known for her vibrant, fun personality as well as the love and deep joy she had for her grandchildren, Stevi and Cade. She was a devoted military wife to Bill. She took great pride in being a military wife and serving her country in that capacity. She and Bill enjoyed going to numerous concerts, traveling the world, and especially loved going on their annual cruises. Julie certainly didn’t know a stranger as she was quite the talker! She loved to socialize and was always out and about talking and making connections with people.

Julie spent her extra time reading, watching Hallmark movies, going to Bible studies, volunteering for church events, and always made time to fit in her weekly trips to the beauty salon. She was an avid lover of watching QVC and loved ordering unique items for her family. Of course, spending time with her grandchildren was her ultimate love.

Julie is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Thomas Hossfeld, and her husband, Luther “Bill” Patteson.

She is survived by her son, Jarrod Cochran, his wife Jill, and their children Stevi and Cade; her brother Don Hossfeld and his wife, Carol; and her brother, Allen Hossfeld.

Cremation arrangements are in the care of Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 25, 2025 at Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Manhattan, Kansas. The family will host a Celebration of Julie’s life following the graveside service at Colbert Hills in Manhattan.

Donald was born July 19, 1931 in Dickinson County, Kansas the son of Ernest Clifton and Clara (Lefert) Garrison. He was raised on a farm near the Upland Community.

Donald attended Fragrant Hill Grade School and graduated from Dickinson County Community High School with the class of 1949. He continued farming with his father and also worked in construction.

On June 2, 1957, he married Leona Eloyce Manz at the Zion United Church of Christ Church in Junction City, Kansas. He continued farming some and worked in a men's clothing store in Junction City. On December 13, 1963, he began working at Central National Bank. He held various positions including facilities manager, loan officer and as an auditor for thirty four years before he retired.

During his time of employment, Donald also worked as a Geary County Reserve Deputy Sheriff from September 18, 1974 until April of 1995. He was active with the Geary County Fish and Game Association serving on the board and was active in presenting the Triple E classes to Junction City fifth grade students. He enjoyed trap shooting and helping teach gun safety.

After retirement, Donald was a volunteer two afternoons each week for thirty years helping improve the research center at the Geary County Historical Society by creating available materials used in research.

Over the years, Donald was an active member of St. John's United Church of Christ, part of the Alida-Upland Parish Church and now Zion United Church of Christ of Junction City, Kansas. He was a member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Donald is survived by his wife Leona; two sons, Rodney (Beth) and Roger (Josie Roehrman); one grandson, Ryan (Steve Burch); one granddaughter, Taylor O'Neal (Jordan) and Beth's sons Kyle and Justin Bergman; one sister, Marilyn Eastman; eight nieces and nephews.

&nbsp; Lynda Dayle Neely passed away at the age of 82 on May 28, 2025 at her home in Abilene, KS.Born on October 2, 1942, in Refugio, Texas, Lynda was the daughter of Jesse Clyde and Alma Faye (LeBleu) Millican.She spent her early years in South Texas, creating cherished memories with her siblings. In 1953, her family relocated to Corpus Christi, where she graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1960. She married Richard (Dick) Millner in 1961 and together they welcomed three children, Adam, Jill, and David.

Lynda had a passion for preserving history. She became known for purchasing and restoring many of Abilene’s historic homes, sparking a community-wide appreciation for local heritage. In 1982, she was appointed director of the Dickinson County Historical Society. Upon her retirement, she was honored to serve as the first director of the newly established Eisenhower Foundation, a role she held for several years before retiring once more.Her public service extended beyond these roles. Lynda served on the Abilene City Commission, serving as mayor three times in her tenure. She received a gubernatorial appointment to the Heritage Commission. She was an active member of numerous organizations, including the Kansas Downtown Development Association, National Trust for Historic Preservation, Kansas State Historical Society, Kansas Museum Association, American Association of State and Local History, and the Abilene Area Chamber of Commerce. Of all her achievements, Lynda was most proud of her efforts to make Abilene the best it could be. Her vision and dedication left an enduring mark on the town she loved.

In 1989, Lynda married Ed Scheele. Together, they founded ESA Design, through which they designed museums across the United States. One of her most treasured projects was contributing to the design and development of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City.In the last three decades of her life, Lynda was lovingly known as Nana—a title she cherished most. Her grandchildren were the center of her world, and she shaped their lives with her warmth, wisdom, and boundless love. She embraced each moment with them, especially those filled with adventure.

On October 13, 2018, Lynda married Russell Neely. Russell was a devoted and loving partner, ensuring her final years could be spent at their cherished home on Red Bud Lake. Their time together was filled with joy, comfort, and continued adventures.&nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp; Betty Krenger (Kippenberger), 93, passed away at home on Friday, May 23, 2025. Betty was born February 23, 1932 in Thomas, OK, the third of five children to Joe and Sarah Kippenberger. She was raised in Thomas until moving to Abilene, KS prior to her junior year in high school. Betty adapted to life in Abilene quickly, making new friends and being named homecoming queen. 

After graduating from Abilene High School in 1950, she attended Emporia State where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business and Education in 1954. Betty flourished in college, where she made lifelong friends and was crowned homecoming queen her senior year. Later, she earned a Masters in Library Science from Kansas State University.

On August 7, 1954, Betty married her high school sweetheart, Ed Krenger. The newlyweds spent two years in Kitzingen, Germany where Ed was deployed by the Army. It was here they developed their joy of traveling. Betty often reflected fondly on their time in Germany, especially their small apartment, visiting the Christmas market in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, and starting her collection of Hummels and dishes.After returning home, Ed and Betty settled back in Abilene, where they raised their four children, Teresa, Mark, Mike and Kelly. 

Betty and Ed shared a remarkable life that involved traveling, socializing with friends, and impromptu hosting of their children’s friends. Betty was a homemaker while her children were young before becoming a teacher, and eventually, the Abilene High School librarian until she retired in 1997.

Betty was an effortless host. To ensure she was always prepared for spontaneous or planned visits from friends and family, she made favorite dishes and kept them in her “magic freezer.” She was famous for her beautiful table settings and delicious food, thrown together at a minute’s notice. Betty was an avid follower of the news, current events, and sports (particularly her beloved Notre Dame football team) and instilled this in her children from a young age. During their breakfast, Betty always had a news program on the television and the Kansas City Star on the table.

Betty’s greatest joy was her family. She and Ed were very active in their kids’ lives. From encouraging involvement in faith, academics and sports to embracing their friends, they found happiness being engaged in their various activities. After Ed’s passing, Betty loved nothing more than visiting and keeping tabs on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.&nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp; Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four siblings, Stanley Kippenberger, Patsy McNeill Clayton, Gordon Kippenberger and Mike Kippenberger. She is survived by her children, Teresa Anderson (Mark) of Leawood, KS, Mark Krenger (Lisa) of San Antonio, TX, Mike Krenger (Sue) of Oklahoma City, OK and Kelly Krenger of New York, NY. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Trent Anderson, Lauren Renfro, Kelly Batten, Sarah Beth Cole, Caroline Krenger, Will Krenger, John Krenger, Joseph Krenger, David Krenger and Danny Krenger. Additionally, she is survived by 13 great-grandchildren with two more on the way.Betty was an elegant, proud, and resilient person. &nbsp; Julie Ann Lilly (Olson), age 62, passed away peacefully at her home in Junction City, Kansas, on May 23, 2025, following a courageous battle with cancer, which she faced with strength and grace since her diagnosis in January.

Born on January 5, 1963, Julie was the daughter of Alfred Olson and Helen (Peters) Olson. She was a proud graduate of Junction City High School, Class of 1981. In her youth, Julie found great joy in outdoor activities, especially spending time at the lake boating and water skiing. She was an avid University of Kansas fan and took great joy in cheering on the Jayhawks whenever she could.Julie started dating the love of her life, Dennis Laurence Lilly, in 1989. The couple married on September 27, 1999, in Las Vegas, Nevada, and built a life together in Junction City. Later, they moved to the Farm on Lilly Road, where they enjoyed the peace and quiet of rural living.

Julie’s life was deeply centered around her family. She was a devoted aunt and stepmother, cherishing time spent with her nephew Chad, niece Natalie, and stepsons Josh and Travis. She shared a special bond with her mother through their mutual love of poodles, and over the years, Julie lovingly cared for many cherished pets who were like family to her.In later years, she dedicated herself to caring for her mother, Helen, and stepfather, Bruce Collins, during their final years. Julie’s nurturing spirit later extended to her grandchildren—Robyn, Luke, and Evelyn—whom she adored and supported with enthusiasm, often attending Robyn’s sporting events and creating lasting memories with them.She also enjoyed traveling to Wyoming to visit her sister Janette, niece Natalie, and great-niece Abigail. A lover of nature, she spent many Sundays with her sister-in-law Cheri exploring the countryside while Cheri photographed wildlife.

Professionally, Julie dedicated her entire career to Kaw Valley Engineering, where she worked as a CADD drafter and later advanced to department manager. Her strong work ethic and commitment were evident as she continued working throughout her illness.

Julie was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Olson, her mother, Helen Collins, and stepfather, Bruce Collins. She is survived by her loving husband, Dennis Lilly of Junction City, KS; stepsons Joshua (Brittany) Lilly of Topeka, KS, and Travis (Katie) Lilly of Junction City, KS; her brother Mike (Cheri) Olson of Junction City, KS; her sister Janette Blaise of Hartville, WY; three grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.In accordance with her wishes, Julie was cremated. 

A visitation will be held on Friday, June 6, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Londeen-Overlease Funeral Home, 206 W. Fifth Street, Chapman, Kansas. She shared a special bond with her mother through their mutual love of poodles, and over the years, Julie lovingly cared for many cherished pets who were like family to her.In later years, she dedicated herself to caring for her mother, Helen, and stepfather, Bruce Collins, during their final years. Julie’s nurturing spirit later extended to her grandchildren—Robyn, Luke, and Evelyn—whom she adored and supported with enthusiasm, often attending Robyn’s sporting events and creating lasting memories with them.She also enjoyed traveling to Wyoming to visit her sister Janette, niece Natalie, and great-niece Abigail. A lover of nature, she spent many Sundays with her sister-in-law Cheri exploring the countryside while Cheri photographed wildlife.Professionally, Julie dedicated her entire career to Kaw Valley Engineering, where she worked as a CADD drafter and later advanced to department manager. Her strong work ethic and commitment were evident as she continued working throughout her illness.Julie was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Olson, her mother, Helen Collins, and stepfather, Bruce Collins. She is survived by her loving husband, Dennis Lilly of Junction City, KS; stepsons Joshua (Brittany) Lilly of Topeka, KS, and Travis (Katie) Lilly of Junction City, KS; her brother Mike (Cheri) Olson of Junction City, KS; her sister Janette Blaise of Hartville, WY; three grandchildren, and many beloved nieces and nephews.In accordance with her wishes, Julie was cremated. A visitation will be held on Friday, June 6, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Londeen-Overlease Funeral Home, 206 W. Fifth Street, Chapman, Kansas. A private burial of ashes will take place at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Julie’s honor to Friends of Animals, Junction City and St. Michael Catholic Church, Chapman.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Andree (Andy) C. Pyle, 81, of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away on May 26, 2025. Cremation has taken place and a family led memorial service will be held at a later date.

Andy was born at La Rochelle, France to Francis and Marguerite Turfin on February 22, 1944. She grew up with twelve siblings while living in France.

Being a military spouse she had many opportunities to travel around the world. Some of the few places includes, Germany, Pyrenees Mountains, Lourdes, and America to which she made her forever home. Andy raised three children while traveling, then gained an additional daughter when she married her second husband, Earl Pyle, which they were married for 40 years.

Andy loved people, more so serving people. This allowed her to find a career in the food service industry. This allowed her to meet many friends, she never seemed to meet a stranger. This ability of her's to engage with people led her to meet her life long friend, Maria Steffens. Their friendship lasted for over 30 years.

Andy's hobbies included crocheting, dancing with her loving husband, playing the slots at the casinos, and watching the hummingbirds.

She is survived by her husband, Earl Pyle; two children, Patricia (Michael Dean) Marguerite Sweeney of Independence, Kentucky and Marcia Pyle of Indiana; one daughter-in-law, Michelle&nbsp;Kaiser of Kentucky; eleven grandchildren, Megan, Alan, Erin, Matthew, Miles, Malinda, Christopher, Brandi, Sabrina, Christopher, Coty; twenty great-grandchildren and a host of other loving family and friends.

Andy was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Frank Bruno Smith and Eric Eugene Smith.

&nbsp; Sally Ann Lesline, 78, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away Saturday, May 24, 2025, at her home following a long illness.&nbsp; Sally was raised in Alma and lived over fifty years in Wamego.

Sally was born July 4, 1946, in Wamego, the daughter of Arthur C. and Maxine W. (Stellwagen) Metzger.&nbsp; She attended local grade school and graduated in 1964 from Alma High School.&nbsp; She attended Stewart’s Beauty College and worked as a hairdresser for fifteen years.&nbsp; She then graduated from Kansas State University and taught in the Adult Education program at Highland Community College and Manhattan-Ogden school district #383.&nbsp; She retired from teaching in 2013.&nbsp; 

Sally also owned and operated several small businesses over the years.Sally grew up on the family farm on Keunzli Creek, east of Alma and loved the rolling Flint Hills where her father, grandfather and great-grandfather all farmed.&nbsp; She was always involved in some type of project; cooking, sewing, stripping furniture, antique hunting, reading, and researching family history.&nbsp; She enjoyed bowling and dancing, but the center of her life was her children and grandchildren.

Sally married Gary Weixelman.&nbsp; They were later divorced.&nbsp; She then married Robert Shortt. Sally and Bob welcomed a daughter, Kathy.&nbsp; They were later divorced.&nbsp; On February 14, 1976, Sally married James E. “Jim” Lesline in Wamego. Sally and Jim welcomed a daughter, Jayme and Jim adopted Kathy, making their family complete.&nbsp; For forty-nine years Sally and Jim’s lives were intertwined as the raised their family and made their memories.&nbsp; Jim survives at their home.Sally is also survived by her daughters; Kathy Ramirez (Michael), Lawrence, and Jayme Lesline (Mark Modro), Oswego, Illinois; her grandchildren, William “Billy” Hyden (Madi), Fort Cavazos, Texas, Andrew Parnell, Manhattan, Chase Ramirez, and Mary Kate Ramirez, both of Lawrence; and her great-grandchildren, Aspyn, Ayla, and Ansley.&nbsp; She is also survived by her brother, Joe Metzger, Minden, Louisiana.&nbsp; Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Derald Metzger, and her sister, Susan Metzger, and sister-in-law, Heidi Metzger.
