Wilma Jean Richardson, 84, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021 at her home in Junction City, KS. Cremation has taken place. No memorial service is planned. Wilma was born December 4, 1936, in Beatrice, NE, the daughter of Steve and Alice (Abbott) Bump. Wilma was raised in Hill City, KS where she graduated from high school. She later moved to Salina, KS where she attended and graduated from Brown Mackie College. After graduating from college, she moved to Junction City, KS where she went to work at Fort Riley as a Civil Servant. As a civil servant, she worked at Fort Riley, KS, Schofield Barracks at Oahu, HA, Keesler Air Force Base at Ocean Springsm MS and Wharton Barracks at Heilbronn, Germany. Wilma worked as a Pink Lady at Geary Community Hospital for many years. She enjoyed reading, playing games, working puzzles and spending time with her family. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a teenager. Throughout her life, she always enjoyed attending church. In 1954, she married Galen Gano in Hill City, KS. He passed away from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. While working at Fort Riley in 1967, she met Billy Richardson on an elevator. They later married in 1968. Survivors include her husband Billy of the home in Junction City, KS; four sons, Gregory A. Richardson and his wife Gina of Tulsa, OK, Timothy D. Richardson and his partner Gino Palermo of Wilton Manor, FL, Billy G. Richardson and his partner of St. Michael's, MD and Jason Richardson of MS; two daughters, Ginger J. Delker and her husband Bill of Cotopaxi, CO and Patricia G. Felts of Abilene, KS; two brothers, Jerry Bump of Hays, KS and Bill Bump of Lawrence, KS; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Justine Kaye Flohr, age 62 of Riley, passed away Friday, October 15, 2021 at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.

She was born on November 10, 1958 in Clay Center, the daughter of H. Warren and Zola Earlene (Lloyd) Sylvester.

On November 26, 1976, she married Dale Edward Flohr.  He preceded her in death on September 21, 2011.

Justine was a housewife, but in her younger years, worked for Farm Bureau and Moorman Feeds.  She was a history buff, studying her family’s genealogy.  She enjoyed spending time watching birds and butterflies, working in her flower garden, watching the Kansas City Royals and helping her son on the farm.

She is survived by her son, Waylon Flohr of Riley and her mother, Zola Sylvester of Leonardville.

In addition to her husband, Dale Flohr, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Dulcie Flohr and her father, Warren Sylvester.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the Walsburg Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating.

Memorials may be made for KJIL Christian Radio and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.

Raymond L. Anderson, age 91 of Olsburg, passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021 in the Honstead House at Meadowlark Hills.



He was born on May 26, 1930 in Manhattan, the son of Will and Esther (Nordgren) Anderson.

On December 19, 1950, he married Maxine Murk.  She preceded him in death on April 30, 2015.

Raymond was a farmer.  He grew up in the Garrison community in the fertile lands of the Blue Valley.  When Tuttle Creek Dam was built, the house his dad and Uncle Oscar had built had to be moved a short distance “up the hill” to protect it from the flood waters of Tuttle Creek Reservoir.

  Raymond grew up in the little house on Garrison Road and after he was married, continued to live there with his new bride. This home saw the birth of their daughter, Marie, and many memories were connected to their little farm.  Only when their health was starting to fail did they decide to make the move to town and sell the land and home that had been in their family for so long.  Although it was a tough decision, Raymond and Maxine made the move to town.



Raymond worked in the maintenance department for KDOT for over 25 years.  After his retirement, Raymond enjoyed time spent on his tractor, coyote hunting and mowing the lawn. He also enjoyed reloading and reading his monthly subscription to “Fur Fish and Game”.  He boasted he had been taking the magazine for over 50 years and looked forward to seeing the next issue in the mail each month.  Many may not have known, but Raymond was a pilot.  He was very proud of this accomplishment and continued to talk about the thrill of flying until his last days.  He truly enjoyed his time in the clouds.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Olsburg Lutheran Church.&nbsp; He was also a member of the Olsburg High School Alumni Association and a life member of the National Rifleman’s Association.

&nbsp; He is survived by his brother-in-law, Everett Murk and wife Paula of Blue Rapids; his sister-in-law, Delores Murk of Warsaw, Missouri, and his best friend and ever-faithful companion, his dog “Buddy.” He is also survived by his many friends and neighbors of the Olsburg community.

He was preceded in death by his wife Maxine Anderson and his daughter, Marie Anderson Douthit.



Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 20th at 2 p.m. at the Olsburg Cemetery with Rev. Keith Wiens officiating.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Jack Lee Wilson, 79 of Abilene passed away October 16, 2021 at Salina Regional Hospital. He was born October 9, 1942, the son of Lawrence and Lucile (Murphy) Wilson. Jack grew up in the Abilene area, attended the local schools and graduated from Abilene High School in 1960. He farmed for Wilson Farms and himself. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Marlene, of the home; two sons, Shawn Wilson of Chicago and Chris (Jane) Wilson of Kansas City; four brothers, Max Wilson, Bob (Kate) Wilson, Steve Wilson, Bruce (Mary) Wilson; and one sister, Linda (Greg) Millert. Jack has six grandchildren, Jacob, Jenna, Jaxon, Charlie, Reagan and Hank. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Wilson. Jack Lee Wilson

Dale Eldon Webster, age 93, of Salina, formerly of Manhattan, died October 17, 2021, at Brookdale-Fairdale Senior Living in Salina. Dale was born on May 17, 1928, in a farmhouse two miles north of Fostoria, Kansas, to Albert and Gladys L. (Ephramson) Webster. Dale was raised on several area farms during his grade school years and attended different country schools, until his family moved to Fostoria, Kansas. He finished grade school in Fostoria and went to Fostoria High for two years. The family then moved to Westmoreland in the Fall of 1944, and Dale graduated from Westmoreland High School in May, 1946. It was at Westmoreland High that Dale met the love of his life, Mary Lou Chilcott. Dale and Mary Lou were united in marriage on October 6, 1946, in Westmoreland. They celebrated 70 years of marriage in October 2016. Mary Lou preceded Dale in death on January 7, 2017. Dale and Mary Lou were blessed with two daughters, Janet Elaine in 1948, and Debra Lea in 1951. Dale’s work career as a heavy equipment operator included working at the Pottawatomie County Shops, the building of Tuttle Creek Dam, missel bases in Council Grove and Concordia, the Jeffrey Energy Center in St. Marys, Coop Chemical Plant in Lawrence, and various contractors in the Manhattan area. Dale was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 101 Union. After retirement, Dale enjoyed volunteering for RSVP of Manhattan and The First Christian Church of Manhattan. Dale enjoyed traveling, especially in his 5th Wheel Camper, card clubs at Zeandale and Green Valley, coffee groups, spending times with friends, and engaging in a good conversation with whoever was available. Dale was a member of the Serenity Group in Manhattan and the Riley County Senior Services Center. Dale was a member of The First Christian Church of Manhattan. He was a life Deacon and served as chairperson of Deacons, preparing communion for Sunday services for over 20 years. Dale helped prepare and mail the church newsletter for over 25 years. He enjoyed the Church’s Men’s Breakfast group for many years. Dale’s life goal was to be the oldest living Webster male. At the age of 91, he reached that goal, and then surpassed it. Dale is survived by his two daughters: Janet Webster of Manhattan, Debra Soper (Dave) of Salina, four grandchildren: Darrin Soper (Allison) of Salina, Danelle Ward of Winter Garden, FL, Audra Stamm (Lenny) of Wamego, Dustin Roudybush (Nicole) of Topeka, 11 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, brother LeRoy Webster (Verla) of Westmoreland and sister Nila Parks of Manhattan, and many nieces and nephews. Richard Lee Pavelka, 69, of Manhattan, passed away early Saturday, October 16th, at Via Christi Village. He was a social worker for the State of Kansas. Richard was born in Hastings, Nebraska on April 29, 1952, the son of the late Albert and Margaret (Strawser) Pavelka. Richard and Suzanne Marie Lindberg were married on September 18, 1982, in Lincoln, Nebraska, and were married for 37 years, Suzanne passed away July 19, 2020. He attended and graduated from KU with a Master's Degree. Richard is survived by his two sons Jeffery Pavelka, of Manhattan and Anthony Pavelka, of Manhattan; two sisters-in-law, Wendy Ann Smith, of Jackson, TN; &nbsp;Teresa Kay Zimmer, of Anchorage, Alaska; &nbsp;three brothers-in-laws, Frederick Stephen Lindberg, of Thousand Oaks, CA;&nbsp;Christopher Allen (Mary) Lindberg, of Seattle; Todd Andrew (Latoya) Linberg, of Chicago and his grandson, Arthur; two brothers, Ron Pavelka of Overland Park and Len Pavelka of Lincoln, Nebraska; one sister, Sandra Pavelka also of Lincoln. Richard is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Suzanne. Richard is survived by his two sons Jeffery Pavelka, of Manhattan and Anthony Pavelka, of Manhattan; two sisters-in-law, Wendy Ann Smith, of Jackson, TN; &nbsp;Teresa Kay Zimmer, of Anchorage, Alaska; &nbsp;three brothers-in-laws, Frederick Stephen Lindberg, of Thousand Oaks, CA;&nbsp;Christopher Allen (Mary) Lindberg, of Seattle; Todd Andrew (Latoya) Linberg, of Chicago and his grandson, Arthur; two brothers, Ron Pavelka of Overland Park and Len Pavelka of Lincoln, Nebraska; one sister, Sandra Pavelka also of Lincoln. Richard is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Suzanne. Kevin Leroy Dettmer, age 50 of Randolph, died Thursday, September 30, 2021 as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born on October 30, 1970 in Manhattan, the son of Elmer Leroy and Beverly Ann (Dimon) Dettmer.

On August 7, 2004, he married Kyra LeAnn Solt.  She survives of the home.

Kevin worked in the Public Works Department for the City of Manhattan.  He enjoyed watching his children play sports, working around his farm and raising cattle and photography.

He is survived by his wife, Kyra Dettmer; four children,  Kelbi, Kaghen, Kinsley and Kaehl Dettmer, all of Randolph; his father and mother-in-law, Doug and Bobbi Solt of Beloit; his brother and sister-in-law, Jake and Amanda Solt of Beloit and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Beverly Dettmer.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Alert Covenant Church.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.  Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, northwest of Randolph.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kevin Dettmer Memorial Fund to go towards his children's education fund.  Contributions may be left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.

Jean married Orival Linder on December 16, 1951. They made their home in Clay Center in 1960. Jean worked as the shipping coordinator at Hutchinson Mayrath for many years. She also took care of the bookkeeping for Orival’s veterinary practice for almost 30 years and was the bookkeeper for their son Jay’s trucking business. She was an avid gardener, cook and sports fan, particularly of the Royals, Chiefs and Kansas State. Above all other sports she was an avid golfer and was considered an expert on the game’s complicated rules. Jean was always upbeat and never complained even through her long illness with Inclusion Body Myositis. She was a member of AVMA Auxiliary, Kansas Women’s Golf Association, Triple-M Investment Club, the Clay Center Country Club, and the Clay Center Christian Church, and was a 4-H and Girl Scout Leader, and a Sunday School and Vacation Bible School teacher. Jean was preceded in death by her husband Orival, parents, and step-mother Blanche Riggs.

Blessed with daughters, Kimberly Anne and Kay Christine, the Family enjoyed many wonderful and happy years, at their home in Fresno California.&nbsp; Darlene, the consummate hostess, enjoyed music, travel, photography and entertaining family and friends.

She worked for South Western Bell Company for 15 years, and later worked alongside her husband in their Fresno California Veterinary Practice. &nbsp;She was active in many Women’s Groups including serving 2 terms as President, for Central California Veterinary Medical Auxiliary, Treasurer for, Thoughtless 13 Women in Investing, Alumni, of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and member of Ladies Welcome Wagon.

Darlene left an impression and touched many lives.&nbsp; Her fun loving personality, cheerful disposition and kindness will remain with each of Us, fortunate to have been warmed by her friendship and love.&nbsp; Her joy for life, was second only to her love, devotion and faith, in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.&nbsp;

Kristi Cranwell, 50 of Hays, formerly of Chapman passed away October 12, 2021 at Hays Medical Center. She was born in Junction City April 29, 1971, the daughter of Gary and Marge (Hall) Gfeller. She grew up in the Chapman area, graduating from Chapman High School in 1989. She went on to receive a Bachler’s degree in Ag Business at Kansas State University and her Masters of Science at the University of Nebraska. She worked in sales for Woofter Construction and Irrigation Company in Colby. She was also an adjunct professor of agriculture at Fort Hays State University.

 On March 5, 1996, she was united in marriage to Clyde Cranwell in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was many things to many people, but Kristi was best at being a mom. She served everyone in such a personal way and there isn’t a person who met Kristi that doesn’t have a fond memory of her. She was a giver to all and brought energy into every room she entered. She loved nothing more than spending time outside in the sun when she wasn’t busy shuffling kids around. She loved reading, church, and her family. She was a motivator, mentor and supporter that leaves both a legacy and an irreplaceable void in the hearts of the many people she touched.

 Kristi is survived by her loving husband Clyde of the home and five daughters, Amanda, Emily, Megan, Haley, and Kaycee. She also leaves behind her parents, one brother, Steve (Christa) Gfeller of Chapman and two sisters, Sally (Dr. Kenny) Johnson of Assaria and Dr. Kim (Kelly) Kirkham of Hugoton as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Arlie L. Janzen, 90 of Abilene passed away October 8, 2021 surrounded by his family. He was born September 12, 1931 in Marion County, the son of Paul and Lillie (Sween) Janzen. Arlie enlisted in the United States Navy in 1952, serving four years in the Korean War on the USS Merrick. He was united in marriage to Eileen Schwartzman April 26, 1958 at St. Mark Catholic Church in Marion. He worked in the fabrication industry for Vaccu Blast and Ehrsham/ABB.&nbsp; Arlie enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and traveling with family and friends.

 Arlie is survived by his loving wife Eileen Janzen of the home. Five children: Mark (Connie) Janzen of Abilene; Marilyn (Mark) Canole of Abilene, Kansas; Lyle Janzen of McPherson; Laurie (Jimmy) Ward of Abilene, Kansas; Scott Janzen of Salina, Kansas. 11 Grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 4 brothers. 

The family has chosen cremation. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Abilene. Russell G. Wilkins, 60, of Abilene, passed away on October 11, 2021. Russ was born August 18, 1961 in Abilene to Leonard and Greta (Van Buskirk) Wilkins. He grew up in Navarre, Kansas, where he attended the local school and graduated from Chapman High School in 1979. On September 6, 1980, he married Andrea Beth Norton in Enterprise. To this union, two sons were born, Jason and Timothy. Russ and Andrea were married for 28 years before her passing in 2008. He later married Angie Woolslayer on February 11, 2011. She survives of the home. For many years, Russ worked as a 911 dispatcher and had recently retired as the Communications Director for Dickinson County. He loved his work and did it well, but his greatest joy was spending time with his wife, his sons, and his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Angie, of the home; his sons, Jason and wife Jenny; and Tim and wife Kara, all of Abilene; his grandchildren, Nolan, Avery, Tyler, and Keaton; and two brothers, Rick and wife Sharon of Menomonie, WI, and Randy and wife Maria of Omaha, NE. He will also be missed by Angie’s children Lisa, Cindy, Mike, and Richard Jr., as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Russell G. Wilkins

Marsha Sue Korthanke Weaver, 71, Cocoa Beach, FL, passed away in the early morning hours on Sunday, October 10, 2021, after a 3-year battle with cancer. Many people didn’t know Marsha still had cancer after she recovered from a successful bone marrow stem cell transplant in 2018. Earlier that year, she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a treatable, but incurable blood cancer, which is the third most popular blood cancer only to leukemia and lymphoma. Marsha was never going to let cancer define her or hold her back from experiencing life to its fullest. She was always upbeat and full of life, even on her last day of life. She didn’t suffer when she passed. Marsha was born on February 20, 1950 in Sabetha, Kansas. She graduated from Hiawatha, Kansas, High School in 1968. She attended Kansas State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics and journalism in 1972, and a master’s degree in 1975. She worked as a Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent for K-State Research &amp; Extension for 36 years, before retiring in 2008. Marsha was married for 48 years to Charles (Chuck) Weaver. They were married on September 1, 1973 in Robinson, KS. She and Chuck moved to Cocoa Beach, FL in 2019. Marsha loved it there; every day she would sit on the patio overlooking the water with a cup of coffee in the mornings and with a beverage in the evenings watching the beautiful sunsets. She and Chuck were often visited by a local blue heron, whom Marsha named “Harry.” They also keep a home in Abilene, KS where she and Chuck spent the summers watching their grandsons play baseball, soccer and helped with the boys’ 4-H projects for the fair. She was a member of the local PEO Chapter CZ, Literary League and served on the Abilene Community Foundation Board of Directors. She was also a founding member of the Dickinson County Arts Council. In her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the Eisenhower Presidential Library. Marsha loved to read and enjoyed socializing with her friends in a local book club and a French club. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Abilene, Kansas. Marsha liked to stay active and could always be found walking around the neighborhood in the mornings, whether in Abilene or Cocoa Beach. Marsha’s friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 2:00pm at the First United Methodist Church in Abilene. Marsha Sue Korthanke Weaver, 71, Cocoa Beach, FL, passed away in the early morning hours on Sunday, October 10, 2021, after a 3-year battle with cancer. Many people didn’t know Marsha still had cancer after she recovered from a successful bone marrow stem cell transplant in 2018. Earlier that year, she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a treatable, but incurable blood cancer, which is the third most popular blood cancer only to leukemia and lymphoma. Marsha was never going to let cancer define her or hold her back from experiencing life to its fullest. She was always upbeat and full of life, even on her last day of life. She didn’t suffer when she passed. Marsha was born on February 20, 1950 in Sabetha, Kansas. She graduated from Hiawatha, Kansas, High School in 1968. She attended Kansas State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in home economics and journalism in 1972, and a master’s degree in 1975. She worked as a Family and Consumer Sciences Extension Agent for K-State Research &amp; Extension for 36 years, before retiring in 2008. Marsha was married for 48 years to Charles (Chuck) Weaver. They were married on September 1, 1973 in Robinson, KS. She and Chuck moved to Cocoa Beach, FL in 2019. Marsha loved it there; every day she would sit on the patio overlooking the water with a cup of coffee in the mornings and with a beverage in the evenings watching the beautiful sunsets. She and Chuck were often visited by a local blue heron, whom Marsha named “Harry.” They also keep a home in Abilene, KS where she and Chuck spent the summers watching their grandsons play baseball, soccer and helped with the boys’ 4-H projects for the fair. She was a member of the local PEO Chapter CZ, Literary League and served on the Abilene Community Foundation Board of Directors. She was also a founding member of the Dickinson County Arts Council. In her retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at the Eisenhower Presidential Library. Marsha loved to read and enjoyed socializing with her friends in a local book club and a French club. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Abilene, Kansas. Marsha liked to stay active and could always be found walking around the neighborhood in the mornings, whether in Abilene or Cocoa Beach. Marsha’s friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 2:00pm at the First United Methodist Church in Abilene. She and her husband were active in the Wolcott Foundation. She was proud to serve her community and country as a Republican Committee woman for over 25 years. She considered it an honor to vote. She enjoyed the Konza Prairie Quilt Club, working in her yard and her family. Mary Elizabeth (Hebrank) Weil Stiver passed away Oct. 12, 2021 in Manhattan, KS. Born May 25, 1941 on a rural farm near Wilsey, KS, she was the daughter of Albert Eugene and Mary Margaret (Scott) Hebrank. On November 23, 1963, she married Jerry David Weil in Council Grove, KS. They divorced 40 years later. She married Harold Eugene Stiver on June 10, 2005 in Manhattan, KS. Mary graduated from Wilsey Rural High School (‘59), Emporia State Teacher's College (Bachelor’s Degree ‘64); and Kansas State University (Master of Science ‘77). She taught 8 years in Manhattan; at Theodore Roosevelt, 3rd Grade 1964-66; Northview Elementary, 3rd Grade 1966-68; Theodore Roosevelt &amp; Woodrow Wilson, Basic Skills, 1973-74. She also taught in Adamstown, Maryland, 4th Grade, Dec. 1970-June ’71. Danville, Illinois, 4th Grade Aug. ’71- May ’73. She then returned to Kansas where she taught for thirty years; Barton Co. Special Services at Great Bend in 1974, and then in Ellinwood, KS Special Education 1975-2005. She was the Technology Coordinator at Ellinwood from 2000-2005. With a love of music since childhood, and blessed with a beautiful soprano voice, Mary was often involved in solos, community musicals, and church choirs. She was a member and leader in Delta Kappa Gamma, 4-H participation and the Kansas Arabian Horse Club. Survivors include her husband, Harold E. Stiver, of the home, daughter Elizabeth ‘Beth’ Ann Weil Baxter of Tucson, AZ and son Jason Todd (Kim) Weil of Topeka, KS; grandchildren Rachel Ann Baxter, Jared Alexander Weil, and Justin Walter Weil; sister-in-laws V. Richard worked as a custodian at Kansas State University until his retirement. He married Shirley M. Biery at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Mayetta on August 24, 1968. They had one daughter Gloria M. Cummings. Richard is survived by his wife Shirley M. Cummings and daughter Gloria of Manhattan; his sister Mary Ann Waltman of Topeka; his brothers: Theodore Cummings of Washington, and Anthony Cummings of Topeka; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters: Theresa Prochish, Anna Cummings, Margaret Shafer and Vera Cummings; and five brothers: John, Francis, Cornelius, Gerald and Leonard Cummings. LaRita Mae (Dinger) Currie, age 85 of Manhattan, died Tuesday morning, October 12, 2021, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan. She was born August 28, 1936, in Wamego, Kansas, the daughter of August and Vivian June (Lytle) Dinger. Rita graduated from Wamego High School in 1954. She began her career as a floral designer in Wamego for Gerald and Valda Sackrider at Wamego Floral where she worked until the late 1960’s. She moved to Manhattan Floral and worked for the Patzell family for 30 years until her retirement in the late 1990’s. Rita enjoyed being outdoors whether she was gardening or cutting firewood with JC. She was devoted to her family and looked forward to “Wacky Wednesday” as the day she spent with her granddaughter Katie. Other than floral design, Rita's greatest talent may have been frying chicken, which many that sat at her table enjoyed immensely. "Lefty Liz" (as she was called in high school) could also strum the guitar fairly well. She loved all of the pets throughout her life but especially their yellow Lab Ben and the extra special cat, Emily. During retirement, she and JC could be found on Fridays at the American Legion with their best friends, the McAfees, whom they also traveled with throughout the years. On March 10, 1960, she was married to John Charles “JC” Currie. JC preceded her in death in 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents and six siblings: Lyle Dinger, Kenneth Dinger, June Blenn, Ed Dinger, Walter Dinger, Claris Dinger as well as her sister-in-law Jeanne Powell and special brother-in-law Dale Budden. William (Billy) Crook, 73, of Salt Lake City Utah, died Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at home in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born December 18, 1947, in Colby, Kansas, the oldest son of William V. Crook, Jr. and Margaret Taylor Crook. The family moved to Manhattan, KS when Billy was six months old, and he attended elementary and high school in Manhattan. Billy graduated from Luckey High School Class of ‘66 and attended Fort Hays State University. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge. He worked for many years at Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway and resided in Leawood, KS until moving to Salt Lake City in recent years. Billy was married to Zoila Blanca of San Salvador, Republic of El Salvador. Billy was a free spirit, loved life and loved to travel. He also loved fishing and hunting, enjoyed snow skiing and was an excellent water skier. He was happiest in the great outdoors. William (Billy) Crook, 73, of Salt Lake City Utah, died Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at home in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born December 18, 1947, in Colby, Kansas, the oldest son of William V. Crook, Jr. and Margaret Taylor Crook. The family moved to Manhattan, KS when Billy was six months old, and he attended elementary and high school in Manhattan. Billy graduated from Luckey High School Class of ‘66 and attended Fort Hays State University. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge. He worked for many years at Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway and resided in Leawood, KS until moving to Salt Lake City in recent years. Billy was married to Zoila Blanca of San Salvador, Republic of El Salvador. Billy was a free spirit, loved life and loved to travel. He also loved fishing and hunting, enjoyed snow skiing and was an excellent water skier. He was happiest in the great outdoors. He is survived by his wife Zoila Crook of Salt Lake City, UT; four stepchildren: Romulo Remo Graniello Molina, Larisa Yanina Graniello Molina, Marce Caterina Graniello Molina and Gina Paola Graniello Molina; nine grandchildren in El Salvador; his mother, Margaret Taylor Crook of Manhattan KS; two brothers: Bruce R. Crook (Judy) of Scottsdale, AZ and Tom R. Crook (Lisa) of Irving, TX; and nephew Dave Fehrenbach (Jackie) of Wabasha, MN. Billy was preceded in death by his father, William V. Mary Lee G. Berggren, age 94, of Council Grove, formerly of Manhattan, died Thursday October 7, 2021 at the Diversicare Health and Rehab Center in Council Grove. She was born on February 9, 1927 in Hubbell, Nebraska, the daughter of LeRoy and Mary (Verley) Young. She grew up in the Hubbell area and area and graduated from Hubbell High School with the class of 1944. Mary Lee was married to Clayton Berggren. They were blessed with two children: Cheryl and Steven. Mary Lee and Clayton later divorced, he preceded her in death in 2008. Mary Lee worked many different jobs during her life. She worked for International Harvester, while still living in Nebraska, while in Manhattan, she worked at the First National Bank for many years. She was a Girl Scout leader, 4-H Leader, and also helped teach Bible school at church. She enjoyed bowling when she was younger. Her family will remember her cooking that she loved to do for them, especially during the holiday times. Mary Lee always loved to go to as many of the activities her kids and grandkids were a part of. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Young and her brother-in-law Dale Compton. Mary Lee is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Monihen (Aaron), of Alta Vista, and her son, Steven Berggren (Kim) of Lathrop, Missouri; her sisters: Juanita June Compton, of Manhattan, and Helen Marie Schardt (Harlan) of Hebron, Nebraska, and her sister-in-law, Mary Young; and also, her 3 grandkids, 9 great-grandkids, and 2 great-great-grandkids. Nanci Ann Jahnke, 77, of Manhattan, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 5th, at her home.&nbsp; She was a homemaker and a retired social worker for the Riley Co. Health Department working with the WIC program. Nanci was born in Sewickley, PA on January 29, 1944, the daughter of Mildred (Upole) and Philip &nbsp;McArdle.&nbsp; She was married to William Robert Jahnke on June 25, 1965, who preceded her in death on March 7, 1997.&nbsp; Nanci graduated from West Allegheny High School in Allegheny, PA, and received her bachelor's degree in Education from Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA. She was a member of the Jehovah’s Witness congregation in Manhattan. Nanci enjoyed gardening her roses, her faith, and her family.&nbsp; Surviving are her daughters, Elizabeth J. Moore, of Manhattan, Christa E. Jahnke, also of Manhattan, Loring E. Jahnke, of Minnesota, Susan E. Koch, of Oregon, Lynn V. Nelson, of Virginia, and her son William R. Jahnke, II., of Minnesota. Also, surviving is her brother, John McArdle, and sister Sue Dodds; grandsons John (Jack) Moore, Aaron Jahnke, Stephen Jahnke, Karl Jahnke, Kurtis Jahnke; and granddaughters Theresa Herbert, Alexandra Koch, Meredith Koch.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a grandson, Nicholas Moore,&nbsp;and her sister, Roni Millstone. Nanci Ann Jahnke

John L. Habluetzel, 85, of Wamego, Kansas passed away at the Good Shepherd Hospice House of Manhattan following a short illness.

He was born on his family farm near Riley, Kansas on January 1, 1936, the son of John M. and Alberta (White) Habluetzel. He had lived in Wamego since moving with his family in 1943. John attended Wamego schools, graduating from Wamego High School in the class of 1953. He married Juanita L. (Kohler) Lamkin in Wamego on April 2, 1970. She survives of the home.

John was a very hardworking farmer and stockman, operating his family farm until his retirement in 2006. He was very active in the community, serving on many boards and volunteering. In 1969, he helped form Pottawatomie County RWD #1 and served as chairman when the construction began and retiring from the board in 1990. He also served on several boards and committees of Farm Bureau, including the board of directors, was the Leader of the year for 4 years, and President of the board in 1981 – 1982, and served for 13 years on the Louisville Township Cemetery Board.

He loved farming and raising cattle, always had a big garden and gave most of the food away. After retiring, he and Juanita enjoyed taking cruises and other trips with Kaw Valley Bank Heritage Club. Mostly, he enjoyed being with his family and was usually enjoying an afternoon coffee break with his friends at the Kreem Kup.

John’s survivors include his wife Juanita, of Wamego; his daughter Teresa Kelsey (Jim) of Louisville, KS; two grandsons, Dustin Kelsey (Lucinda) of Basehor, KS, Joe Kelsey (Crystal) of Miltonvale, KS; four great-grandchildren, Aston, Kaiya, Sheyenne, Emily; and two sisters, Lois Feldhausen of Wamego, and Janice Hedrick, Manhattan, KS; a nephew and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Pearletta Smith.

Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 15, 2021 at the Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. A visitation with family greeting friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14 at the funeral Home. Inurnment will be in Louisville Cemetery.
