&nbsp;Keith B. Oney, 71, of Alma, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2023.

&nbsp;Born July 19, 1952 in New London, Ohio, Keith was the son of Ernest and Verlie (Case) Oney. &nbsp;He married LaNelle Kay Wegner on July 3, 1978 in Las Vegas, Nevada. &nbsp;She survives at the home.

Keith attended New London public schools, graduating in June 1970 and enlisted in the Army to serve his country during the Vietnam war. He completed Airborne Ranger school while in Vietnam and served in the Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) unit for the G-75th Rangers. He was stationed at Fort Riley and honorably discharged September 1973. Keith enjoyed all things outdoors and spent time hunting, trapping, racing dirt track cars, and tinkering with several car and truck projects. He was a member of several state and national outdoor organizations, serving as a volunteer of the Kansas Fur Harvesters and Wabaunsee County 4-H.&nbsp;

Keith was employed for many years as an ASE certified mechanic at several area dealerships and independently owned shops before retiring from the Kansas Turnpike Authority in 2009.

&nbsp;Survivors include his wife, LaNelle; a son, Brian Oney (Stacey) of Trophy Club, TX; a daughter, Kayla Savage (Johnathan) of St. George, KS; six grandchildren, Sophia Oney, Connor Oney, Ainsley Oney, Colin Oney, Cooper Savage and Owen Savage; an Aunt, AnnaLea Clark (Clinton “Tiny”) of Tampa, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

&nbsp;Mr. Oney was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Marv Oney Savage; a sister, Tina Inscho; and three brothers, Bill “Buddy” Oney, Don Oney and Roy Oney.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the Alma United Methodist Church with Pastor Kyle Scheideman and Pastor Cindy Neill officiating. &nbsp;Inurnment with Military Honors by the U. S. Army Funeral Honors Detail and the Alma American Legion Post No. 32 will be in the Alma City Cemetery.

Henrietta “Retta” Maxine Mounts, age 86, died December 18, 2023, on beautiful sunny afternoon at Advena Living Center in Clay Center, Kansas. Retta was born August 5, 1937, the daughter of Henry “Hank” and Vivian (Bouden) Tripp, in Denver, Colorado. She was the oldest of four children.

Retta attended Clay Center Schools, including Lincoln Elementary, McKinley School and the old Clay Center High School. She had a lifelong love of gardening, both flowers and vegetables. Her first garden was as a 10-year-old child, a small spot within her mother’s garden. Retta loved digging in the dirt and seeing the results of her work. As she got older, she always called this her own therapy. &nbsp;After buying her first home with her husband, she planted some nut and fruit trees. Retta spent many years harvesting and canning her produce.&nbsp;

Retta married Dale Danford Knepper on August 16, 1953. They were married 17 years. To this union, three children were born. They were very involved in their children's school activities and sports, attending many programs and games. As she got older, she continued to attend her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s events.&nbsp;

Retta married Ray Mounts and built their home in Clay Center in 1971. She continued her love of gardening there as well and planted a large garden at her new home.&nbsp;

When Retta turned 85 her granddaughter, Marina Tuetsch put together a book called “The 85 Things We Love About You”. They managed to capture her love of cooking, her welcoming hospitality, her wit and humor, and her ability to make them all feel special. Number 85 rounded out her legacy and character: wise, humble, generous, servant’s heart, full of love, honest, pure, and kind.&nbsp;

Retta is survived by her children Christine Rhodes, Michael and wife Pixie Knepper, and Valerie and husband Roger Coberly. Grandchildren, Cody (Jenny) Knepper, Caleb (Amy) Knepper, Adam (Anna) Knepper, Samantha Coberly, Chaz (Megan) Coberly, Marina (Robert) Coberly Tuetsch, Cassidy Coberly (fiancé, Zach Jensen). Great grandchildren, Jeremiah Wolf, Jalynn Rule, Brody Knepper, Lilly Knepper, Amelia Knepper, Lucy Knepper, Keely Knepper, Kolete Knepper, Alice Coberly, Keegan and Carter Jensen, and two sisters, Jean Woolley and Marie Bolejack.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ray Mounts, granddaughter Jamie Rhodes Wolf, and brother Robert Tripp.&nbsp;

Private family services will take place with a celebration of life at a later date.&nbsp;

Cletus Darrel Young, age 85 of Manhattan, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2023, at the Stoneybrook Retirement Community in Manhattan.

He was born on November 5, 1938, in rural Riley County, Kansas, the son of Earl and Edith (Stadel) Young.&nbsp; He graduated from St. George High School, where he excelled in sports, especially basketball.

On July 28, 1958, he married Evelyn Marie Pease at the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Manhattan.

Cletus was a lifetime farmer and stockman.&nbsp; He raised, and sold, a lot of prize-winning show pigs.&nbsp; He was a member of the National Swine Registry and National Duroc Association.&nbsp; He loved his family and following his children’s and grandchildren’s activites.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Young of Manhattan; three children, Diane Kaul and George Rotsart of Ankeny, Iowa, Lorri Greve and husband John of Davenport, Iowa, and Mark Young and wife Kim of Manhattan; and three grandchildren, Taylor Nielson (Travis), Jacob Kaul, and Delaney Young.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Vivian Brooks and Gwen Sumners.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023, at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home followed by a private family graveside service.

Delores Marie Germann, 92, of Clay Center passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor in Clay Center. She was born October 26, 1931, the daughter of the late Emmett James and Hazel Schrumm on the family farm in Longford, Kansas. She was the youngest of 4 children, brothers Mellies, Kenneth (Bud), and Emmett (Pete) James.

She attended a one room grade school and attended high school through her freshmen year at CCCHS. She married Dale A. Beauchamp on September 23, 1948. To this union was born Dwight E. and Durwin D. Beauchamp. Delores was married to Dale for 45 years until his death on November 1, 1993. She later married Donald J. Germann on September 2, 1995 and became stepmother to Jim, Pam, Tammy, and Greg Germann. Don later passed in February of 2002.

Delores was a member of the Clay Center Wesleyan Church. She was a faithful believer in God and always said "Why worry when you can pray".

She began her working career as a waitress in several local restaurants while her "mama" was the cook and at the Clay Center Country Club. She then became a retail clerk for Snyder's Jewely which later became Pfeifley's Jewely Store. Later she worked at Ray’s Apple Market as a product sampler until her forced retirement in 2020 due to COVID at the age of 89 years old. Delores loved her work being in the public and getting to see babies and children every day. &nbsp;

Delores was a Hospice volunteer and enjoyed taking patients and friends wherever they needed to go. She loved to have coffee several times a week with her best friends and played bridge weekly with her club. She also tutored children in reading in her home.

She loved the outdoors, especially in the spring when she could be out planting her garden, going for walks, or just sitting outside on her patio every evening. She loved to make Sunday dinners for her family for years.

Nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by her family. She wanted to spend time with them often. She attended all her son's sports activities and later her granddaughter’s and when able, her great grandchildren's activities.

Delores is survived by her sons, Dwight E. Beauchamp and &nbsp;his wife, Allie of Woodbridge, VA. and Durwin and his wife, Mick Beauchamp of Clay Center, KS.; 5 grandchildren Torrie (Aaron) Battle of Louisburg, KS., Hayle (Chris) Collins of The Colony, TX., Frank (Heather) Beauchamp, Katherine Beauchamp, and Kris Scofield of Woodbridge, VA., 15 great grand kids, Declan, Tatum, Colston, Chris, Jeff, Eric, Clay, Jared, Preston, Pierce, Payne, Jacob and Katherine, Lemme, and Noah and several great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at the Clay Center Covenant Church in Clay Center, Kansas.

Visitation will be held from 9-10:30 AM prior to the funeral services on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at the church.

Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas.

&nbsp; Donna White passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2023 at the Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan at the age of 68. She was born February 13, 1955 in Englewood, California the daughter of Donald and Leona (Schaper) Havenstein.

On February 24, 1978 Donna was united in marriage to Thomas White in Manhattan, Kansas. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband Tom of the home, daughter Krystal White of the home, Joshua White of Abilene. She was preceded in death by her son Caleb on September 29, 2020.

On December 8, 1946 Marjorie was united in marriage to Gerald Bowell in Salina. Together they farmed all their lives Marjorie loved working in her flower garden raising beautiful flowers. She also enjoyed taking walks, reading, knitting, crocheting, and embroidering.

Marjorie is survived by her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, an infant brother, brothers Laurence and Verne Rissman, sister Dorothy Lee, and her parents.

Jessica Rae Henson, 43, of Wamego, formerly of the Goff/Wetmore area was called to heaven with her daughter Baylie on December 13th, 2023.

Jessica was born December 5th, 1980, in Topeka, KS, to Rick and Joleen Kirk. Jessica grew up in the Goff/Wetmore area and graduated from Wetmore High School with the class of 1999.&nbsp;

She was united in marriage to Del Henson in 2003 in Wetmore and later divorced. They had three children together.&nbsp;

Jessica was a caregiver her whole life. She was licensed as a Certified Nurses Aid at 16 and worked at several nursing facilities, spreading her love to the elderly that she took care of. She took care of friends and family in their homes. She was also a primary caregiver for her mother while she was in hospice.

Jessica loved to have fun and enjoyed camping with her family, listening to live music, attending festivals and carnivals, and spending time with her family near and far.&nbsp;

Survivors include her son Ayden, 16 of the home, father Rick (Goff), brother Sam (Goff), companion Jessie (of the home), close friend Del (Wamego), Grandmother Mary Ann (Goff), nephews Wyatt, Noah, Theodore and niece-Allyson, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.&nbsp;

She was preceded in death by her daughter Whitney, mother Joleen, grandparents Clarence and Goldie Faunce and Walter Kirk.&nbsp;

Baylie Reanna Henson, 10, of Wamego was called to heaven with her mother Jessica on December 13th, 2023. Baylie was born May 8, 2013, in Montana, and shortly after she and her family moved back to Kansas. She lived in Wamego most of her life. Baylie attended Wamego Elementary most of her life and had many friends.

She loved to have fun with her friends and family. She was close with her cousin Allyson and her brother Ayden, and she adored and loved spending time with her grandpa Rick and Uncle Sam.

&nbsp;In Baylie's spare time, she liked to paint, liked anime and TikTok, and loved her Takis. She was also into theater and was recently in a musical called Music Man Jr. She also enjoyed soccer and cheering. Although it was constantly changing some of the things Baylie showed interest in were, being an actress, being a fashion designer, and photography.

Jessica Rae Henson, 43, of Wamego, formerly of the Goff/Wetmore area was called to heaven with her daughter Baylie on December 13th, 2023.Jessica was born December 5th, 1980, in Topeka, KS, to Rick and Joleen Kirk. Jessica grew up in the Goff/Wetmore area and graduated from Wetmore High School with the class of 1999.&nbsp;She was united in marriage to Del Henson in 2003 in Wetmore and later divorced. They had three children together.&nbsp;Jessica was a caregiver her whole life. She was licensed as a Certified Nurses Aid at 16 and worked at several nursing facilities, spreading her love to the elderly that she took care of. She took care of friends and family in their homes. She was also a primary caregiver for her mother while she was in hospice.Jessica loved to have fun and enjoyed camping with her family, listening to live music, attending festivals and carnivals, and spending time with her family near and far.&nbsp;Survivors include her son Ayden, 16 of the home, father Rick (Goff), brother Sam (Goff), companion Jessie (of the home), close friend Del (Wamego), Grandmother Mary Ann (Goff), nephews Wyatt, Noah, Theodore and niece-Allyson, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.&nbsp;She was preceded in death by her daughter Whitney, mother Joleen, grandparents Clarence and Goldie Faunce and Walter Kirk.&nbsp;Baylie Reanna Henson, 10, of Wamego was called to heaven with her mother Jessica on December 13th, 2023. Baylie was born May 8, 2013, in Montana, and shortly after she and her family moved back to Kansas. She lived in Wamego most of her life. Baylie attended Wamego Elementary most of her life and had many friends.She loved to have fun with her friends and family. She was close with her cousin Allyson and her brother Ayden, and she adored and loved spending time with her grandpa Rick and Uncle Sam.&nbsp;In Baylie's spare time, she liked to paint, liked anime and TikTok, and loved her Takis. She was also into theater and was recently in a musical called Music Man Jr. She also enjoyed soccer and cheering. Although it was constantly changing some of the things Baylie showed interest in were, being an actress, being a fashion designer, and photography.&nbsp;Survivors include her brother Ayden, 16, of the home, father Del (Wamego), grandmother, Doris Henson, grandfather Rick (Goff), Uncle Sam (Goff), Jessie (of the home), great grandmother Mary Ann (Goff), close cousins Wyatt, Noah, Theodore and Allyson, and several other extended family members.&nbsp;She was preceded in death by her sister Whitney and grandmother Joleen.

Joan Laverne Doll, 78, of Buckeye, AZ (formerly Wamego, KS), passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Hospice of the Valley, Surprise, AZ, with her two sons by her side. Joan was born October 15, 1945, to Louis and Ruth (Carter) Timmons.&nbsp;

Joan received her education in the Wamego, KS school system. She married Thomas Joseph Doll on August 25, 1962. Tom preceded her in death on May 5, 2020.&nbsp;

Raising a family in Wamego, Joan was a devoted wife, mother, and friend to many. Joan worked for several years at Vanderbilt’s before moving to Holiday Island, AR, in 1986 with her husband, Tom, where together they operated the Holiday Island Marina on Table Rock Lake. Upon returning to Kansas, Joan, once again, worked alongside her husband at the Farmer’s Union Co-op in Harveyville until their retirement. Joan and Tom enjoyed living at Wabaunsee Lake for many years before returning to Wamego.&nbsp;

Joan enjoyed monthly luncheons with Tom and a special group of friends at South 40 Café in Westmoreland and continued to attend following Tom’s death. In 2022, Joan decided to move to Buckeye, AZ, to live closer to her son, Ron, and his wife, Nancy, who live between Seattle, WA, and Buckeye, AZ, and enjoy the more temperate climate.&nbsp;

Moving to AZ was a big step for Joan who had spent most of her life in the Wamego area. She was concerned about leaving family and friends to live somewhere unfamiliar. Her concerns proved to be pointless as her outgoing, gregarious personality and ability to have a conversation with anyone provided her the opportunity to meet an amazing group of friends. She joined FABS, a women’s social group, and met many special friends who enjoyed many outings together including weekly luncheons, films, bingo, bunco, concerts, and special events in the community.&nbsp;

Joan’s survivors include sons, Jeff (Kansas City, MO) and Ron, and wife, Nancy, (Seattle, WA); 2 grandchildren: Brenna Doll (Kevin Dixon) and Max Doll (Seattle, WA); brother, Jim Timmons, and wife, Laura (Auburn, KS); sister-in-law, Lois Doll Brazzle (Wamego, KS); 5 nephews, Bob Timmons, David Timmons, Brandon Brazzle, Chad Carrel and Jared Carrel; 2 nieces: LaDonna Munoz and Emily Brazzle.

Michael Kent (Mickey) Schnedler, age 82, passed away on December 17, 2023, at Good Shepherd Hospice House, Manhattan, KS, after a prolonged illness. He was born on October 16, 1941, in Peru, KS, to Don K. and Lillian J. (Thorn) Schnedler while his parents were visiting her parents. Their home was actually in Wichita, KS, at the time, and that’s where he grew up.

In Wichita, he graduated from Wichita High School Southeast in 1959, and attended Wichita State University. He was always active in music, appearing in several musicals at Southeast, and he sang in choir as well as smaller ensembles. Mickey performed vocal solos at state competitions, where he nearly always received a top rating for his beautiful tenor voice.

Mickey met Phyllis Ruth Jackson at church camp when they were in Junior High. They were married in 1964 in Wichita, KS, and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary next August 1. They had two daughters, Catherine, born in 1966, and Jane, born in 1969. In 1970, their family moved to Manhattan, KS, where he was the Supplies Manager of the newly-opened K-State Union Bookstore. He later served as Manager of the Bookstore. When the K-State football team was chosen to play in the Independence Bowl in 1982, their first-ever bowl game, Mickey was responsible for the KSU booth full of t-shirts, souvenirs and other memorabilia to sell to the fans attending the game.

After leaving the bookstore, Mickey was the In-School Suspension Supervisor at Anthony Middle School in Manhattan until his retirement. He enjoyed working with that age group, and teachers felt he was a good influence on the students he supervised.

Mickey has been an active member of First Baptist Church, Manhattan, KS, for over 53 years. He has served on several boards, ministries and has served as choir director at various times through the years.

Mickey is survived by his wife of 59 years, Phyllis, of the home, two daughters, Cathy Sutton of Oregon, MO, and Jane Schnedler of Manhattan, grandchildren Rebecca (Garrett) Derr, Oregon, MO, grandson Decker Sutton, Savannah, MO, brother David (Linda) Schnedler of Wichita, brother-in-law Doug (Beverly) Jackson of Severna Park, MD, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Don and Lillian Schnedler, sister Donna Kay (Schnedler) Thatcher, and his grandparents Thorn and Schnedler.

Thomas La Rue Clark, 79, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on December 17, 2023, at Enterprise Estates Nursing Center.

Thomas was born on August 14, 1944, to Thomas Clark Sr. and Josephine Clark-Mayden Hohman in Junction City, Kansas. Tom graduated from Junction City High School in 1962. He played many sports during his high school career to include both football and wrestling. Directly after graduating, he enlisted into the U.S. Navy on June 28, 1962, and served honorably. After his enlistment in the Navy he met his first wife, Judy and they raised two daughters, Kimberly and Tammie until their divorce.In 1978. Tom met his second wife Robin and married in 1981. They shared 42 years of marriage together and raised their daughter Alexandria in their hometown of Junction City.

Tom was a jack of all trades, he worked many different jobs around town until he found his long term passion serving the community as a law enforcement officer. He worked in law enforcement for 30 years and retired as the Junction City Police Chief in 1996. Tom was an active person and looked for ways to keep busy after retirement. These activities includes fishing, hunting, and boating.&nbsp; After two years of retirement he decided to volunteer at Junction City Middle School and this later turned into a full-time position for 20 years, retiring in 2018. After his second retirement, he enjoyed relaxing at the lake and spending quality time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Robin; three daughters, Kimberly Carr (Robert) of Rogers, Ar, Tammie McKeithan (Kevin) of Chapman, Ks, and Alexandria Clark of Junction City, Ks; one step-brother, Ed Hohman (Gloria) of Wakefield, Ks and a host of other family and friends. Tom is preceded by his parents; one son, Sean Clark and his step-father, Faye Hohman.

he was born on October 11, 1933, East Prussia, Germany to Johann and Elfriede (Thalus) Dinkel. Inge worked as a cook for St. Xavier Catholic School, and in 1982 she went to work at Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Kansas State University until her retirement in 1995.

On February 20, 1965 she married Bobby J.&nbsp; Crotzer. He preceded her in death October 14, 1976. Inge is survived by her two daughters, Betty (Richard) Waters of Junction City, KS, Dorothea Connors of Kansas City, KS; her three grandchildren, Christian Waters, Petra Lusk and Vincent Lusk, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Sylvia Bigley, and her grandson, Gregory Patmon.

Shirley was born to Lawrence and Lotti Mae Wright in Newport News, Virginia on November 17, 1952. While living there, she spent most of her life in the food industry before retiring. She was a long-time resident of Virginia, but made the decision to move to Kansas in 2022. This allowed her to be closer to her family in Kansas.

Shirley is survived by two loving sons, Jamie Vaughan and Chris Trotter; three sisters, Linda Pettis, Yvonne Brown, and Mary Anne Wright; ten grandchildren and ten nieces and nephews.

Lois M. Zubrod, 84, of Milford, Kansas, passed away on December 10, 2023, at Chapman Valley Manor surrounded by her loving family. She was born on November 24, 1939, to Vernie and Lela Parrott (McClam) in Florence County, South Carolina. She graduated Lake City High School in 1958. After graduation, she worked at the South Carolina Health and Environmental Services with both her sisters, Margaret and Hazel. While working in the department, she met the love of her life, Leroy Zubrod. They married on May 7, 1960, in Columbia, South Carolina. They enjoyed 56 years together until his passing in 2016.Being a military spouse, she had the opportunity to travel the country with her husband and children. After leaving New Jersey in 1979, she found work on Fort Riley as a receptionist for the radiology department in the Irwin Army Hospital for many years until her retirement.

Lois had an excellent green thumb, some of her favorite flowers were petunias, begonias, and roses. She always made sure to have her home well grown with live greenery. Besides the floral scents from the garden, her Southern cooking aromas also had a special place in her home. Christmas dinners were always a treat for her large family. They will remember them fondly.

She is survived by her son, Robert (Diana) Zubrod of Arlington, Texas; daughter, Bonnie (Barry) Kluesner of Junction City, Kansas; one sister, Hazel (Ronnie) McCall of Lexington, South Carolina; three grandsons, Daniel Whitebread, Levi Whitebread, and Ryan Zubrod; one granddaughter, Angela Hamilton and five great-grandchildren.She was preceded by her loving husband Leroy; one sister, Margaret; one brother, Jackie and her mother and father. Lois's family will always remember her as a sweet soft spoken Southern Belle.

After leaving New Jersey in 1979, she found work on Fort Riley as a receptionist for the radiology department in the Irwin Army Hospital for many years until her retirement.Lois had an excellent green thumb, some of her favorite flowers were petunias, begonias, and roses. She always made sure to have her home well grown with live greenery. Besides the floral scents from the garden, her Southern cooking aromas also had a special place in her home. Christmas dinners were always a treat for her large family. They will remember them fondly.She is survived by her son, Robert (Diana) Zubrod of Arlington, Texas; daughter, Bonnie (Barry) Kluesner of Junction City, Kansas; one sister, Hazel (Ronnie) McCall of Lexington, South Carolina; three grandsons, Daniel Whitebread, Levi Whitebread, and Ryan Zubrod; one granddaughter, Angela Hamilton and five great-grandchildren.She was preceded by her loving husband Leroy; one sister, Margaret; one brother, Jackie and her mother and father. Cecilia 'Sheila' Quintanilla, age 89, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2023, at Valley Vista Good Samaritan Society in Wamego. &nbsp;

She was born November 22, 1934, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Joseph and Maria (Flores) Chavez. She was the third of twelve children.

In April 1955, Sheila married Emilio Quintanilla in San Antonio, Texas. He preceded her in death on February 15, 2001. Together, they were blessed with eleven children. Sheila and her family lived in San Antonio, Texas, for several years. They later moved to Paxico, Kansas, to raise their family.

As a young girl, Sheila perfected her craft as a seamstress, mending clothing; while living with her aunt and uncle, she worked in the cotton fields of Brownsville, Texas, to help support her mother and siblings. Sheila was a certified medical assistant at the Alma Manor for over 20 years. She enjoyed caring for the elderly and was very proud of her profession.

&nbsp;In her free time, she enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball from a young age until she was in her 50s; the sport led her to meet the love of her life, Emilio. She and Emilio enjoyed fishing together and took great pride in her family dinners on Sundays, often making her famous tamales and ox tail soup. 

Sheila was passionate about her heritage and her family. She loved watching Spanish soap operas with her granddaughters; even if they didn’t understand, having them by her side brought her great joy. She was a feisty woman and family-oriented. She fiercely protected her family and was proud to be a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt.

Survivors include her children, Cecilia Jean (Ken) Bramblett, son-in-law, Vincent Hurla, Emilio (Deb) Quintanilla, Robert (Diane) Quintanilla, Norma (Melvin) Burris, Barbara (Rodger) Bussart, Sonya (Todd) Whitwam, Bonnie Quintanilla, Keith Quintanilla, Ray (Carmen) Quintanilla, and Melissa Myers, thirty-seven grandchildren, seventy-two great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Maria Chavez, husband Emilio Quintanilla, daughter Emily Quintanilla Hurla, granddaughter Shana Bird and Elizabeth Kates, and three brothers and six sisters.

A Rosary Service will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. at Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home, with a visitation following the Rosary from 5:30 until 7:30. Cecilia will lie in state at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 17, 2023. 

Funeral services and burial will be held privately.

Crystal Kay Leasure Holub was born on July 6, 1957 in Manhattan, Kansas to Elden and Sylvia (Helmke) Leasure. She is survived by her husband Timothy Mark Holub and five daughters: Jessica Travis (Jeff Conley) of Pratt, Jean (Adam) Shriner of St. George, Theresa (Glenn) Lehman of Hutchinson, Emily Holub of Haysville, and Victoria Holub of Marion. Crystal and Tim are loving grandparents to thirteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A prayer vigil will be held at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen, Kansas, at 6pm on Friday, December 15, 2023 followed by visitation with the family until 8pm. A celebration of Crystal’s life will be held at 10am on Saturday, December 16, 2023 with interment to follow at St. John’s cemetery in Pilsen. All are invited to a meal provided after the service.

Crystal Kay Leasure Holub was born on July 6, 1957 in Manhattan, Kansas to Elden and Sylvia (Helmke) Leasure. After moving to Texas for a few years, the family returned to Manhattan in 1963, where Crystal graduated from Manhattan High School in 1975. In 1976, she earned her associates degree in nursing and married James Travis. Two daughters, Jessica Ann and Jean Marie were born shortly after. 

When the couple divorced in 1978, Crystal worked for several years as a nurse in the Kansas State University’s Lafene Health Center, raising and supporting her daughters. It was while working at Lafene that Crystal met the love of her life, Tim, when he came to the student health center to have a cut on his hand stitched. Shortly after, a romance blossomed. Crystal’s love of yellow roses began when Tim gave Crystal two yellow roses early in their relationship.

Crystal and Timothy Mark Holub married at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen Kansas, on March 13, 1982 where Jessica and Jean served as flower girls in celebration of their wedding. Shortly after, Tim accepted a job in Wichita and the family moved to Andale, finally settling in Cheney Kansas in 1982. Crystal poured love into her family and with Tim, added three additional daughters - Theresa Diane, Emily Rose and Victoria Lynn. 

Crystal also treasured the years she was an exchange student host mother to Sau Ming (Marissa) from Hong Kong and Xuan Tho (Jennifer) from Vietnam. She enjoyed finding time for home cooked meals, European dark chocolate, NPR radio, genealogy, rock collecting, gardening, thrift and antique stores, fresh baked goodies, a trip to the zoo, sewing, crafting, a rousing game of scrabble, and binge-watching quirky British TV shows. 

Many years were spent as a Girl Scout leader, Altar Society member and religious education teacher. Crystal looked for any reason to celebrate - from solemn Catholic feast days, to making sure each daughter’s birthday was special. She loved to coordinate holiday family gatherings spanning four generations. Crystal loved family time at the Holub family farm.

When her youngest daughter started first grade, Crystal again pursued higher education and a second career in teaching. She earned her Bachelor’s from Newman University in Elementary Education and her Master’s Degree in Special Education from Wichita State University. Crystal taught elementary Special Education in the Wichita USD 259 district, 2nd grade at St. Margaret Mary Catholic school, middle school at Church of the Holy Spirit Catholic school, as well as high school at Oasis Day School in Marion county.

In spite of her many years of selfless dedication to special education and her Catholic faith, Crystal’s family, daughters, and grandchildren remain her greatest and proudest achievement.

Gary Virgil Chaput, age 73, died November 20, 2023, at the Saint Lukes Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. 

He was born on October 12, 1950, to Virgil and Lela (Schumock) Chaput, in Clay Center, KS. Gary grew up in the Clifton area and graduated from Clifton High School in 1969. 

He enlisted into the United States Army in 1970. He served as an active-duty soldier from 1970-1976. Immediately following, he joined the Kansas National Guard and served from 1976-1989. 

Gary married Brenda Deaver in 1974. To this union three children were born. Gary worked for Hutchinson Maywrath, LCL Buffalo Ranch, and retired from Heatron in Leavenworth, KS. 

Even though Gary was referred to as a stubborn ol’ fart, he loved to talk, tell jokes and was quite the prankster. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and tinkering in his shop. &nbsp;Gary could be found each morning with a coffee and newspaper in his hand. &nbsp;

He is preceded in death by parents and sister, Judy Duggan.

Gary Virgil Chaput

Frank Purling, Jr., 75 of Morganville, Kansas, died November 22, 2023 at the Midland Care Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on August 7, 1948 in Clay Center, Kansas, the son of Frank Purling, Sr. and Darlene Mae Langley &nbsp;&nbsp;

Frank was raised in Clay Center and graduated with the Class of 1966 from CCCHS. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam war. Frank returned to Clay Center and later moved to Manhattan, Kansas and worked in construction for many years. &nbsp;

In the 1990’s, he moved to Colorado and started ranching. Frank returned to the Clay Center area and continued ranching. He was a member of Cowboys for Christ and a past member of the American Legion. As a veteran himself, Frank loved the United States and believed wholeheartedly in the promise of freedom. Led by his Christian faith in all aspects of life, Frank was honorable, generous, and kind.

Frank loved country music; a good laugh; authentic company; fresh, open air; the sunrise, sunset and a good honest day's work in between. Frank loved animals, seeing them as a blessing and as companions. 

Frank's ability to understand and communicate with animals was a gift and, in this gift, he found his calling. Frank loved life and had the courage to live his life to its fullest. 

Frank was preceded in death by his parents and a sister-in-law, Barb Wilson.

He is survived by his daughters, Jennifer and husband Michael Baker of Prairie Village, Kansas and Jill Burgess of Lenexa, Kansas; sister, Linda and husband Sam Gibbs of Clay Center, Kansas; brother, Tom Purling of Clay Center, Kansas; 4 Grandchildren and 1 Great-grandson.

Visitation will be held from 3-7PM on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, Kansas.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 10:30AM on Friday, January 19, 2023 at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas.

Frank Purling Jr

Wanda Elaine (Carter) Laflin 86, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023, in her sleep at Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie, KS.&nbsp;

She was born in Clay Center, KS and later moved to Rushville, MO with her family. &nbsp;Wanda married William Laflin and moved to Nickerson, KS, where she was a housewife and mother for many years, then worked as a security guard at Cessna, and as a travelling CNA.&nbsp;

Wanda was the daughter of James and Jessie (Dunavan) Carter of Rushville, MO who preceded her in death, as well as her husband, William, and three siblings, James Carter II, La Forest “Red” Carter, and Marietta Duty. &nbsp;

Wanda is survived by her children, Von Laflin, Wendy Laflin, three grandchildren, Logan Hicks, Aubrey Heckathorn and Troy Laflin as&nbsp;well as 3 great-grandchildren. &nbsp;

Visitation will be Monday, December 4, 2023, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home.

 </figure>Wanda Elaine (Carter) Laflin 86, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2023, in her sleep at Prairie Sunset Home, Pretty Prairie, KS.&nbsp;She was born in Clay Center, KS and later moved to Rushville, MO with her family. &nbsp;Wanda married William Laflin and moved to Nickerson, KS, where she was a housewife and mother for many years, then worked as a security guard at Cessna, and as a travelling CNA.&nbsp;Wanda was the daughter of James and Jessie (Dunavan) Carter of Rushville, MO who preceded her in death, as well as her husband, William, and three siblings, James Carter II, La Forest “Red” Carter, and Marietta Duty. &nbsp;Wanda is survived by her children, Von Laflin, Wendy Laflin, three grandchildren, Logan Hicks, Aubrey Heckathorn and Troy Laflin as&nbsp;well as 3 great-grandchildren. &nbsp;Visitation will be Monday, December 4, 2023, from 9:00 AM until the time of service at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home.Funeral Services will be held on, Monday, December 4, 2023, at 10:30AM at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, KS&nbsp;Internment will directly follow services at Timber Creek Cemetery, Clay County, KansasMemorials: &nbsp;Can be made to the Alzheimer's Association in c/o the funeral home

Wanda Elaine Laflin

Roy E. Jennings, Jr., 85, of Clay Center, Kansas passed away at Wakefield, Kansas on Friday, December 1, 2023. 

He was born in Hays, Kansas on October 12, 1938 to Roy E. and Ethel Jennings, the seventh of seven children. Roy attended school in Junction City before joining the U.S. Navy. 

Roy met the love of his life, Lillian Joyce Sumner, during their years as young adults, both having grown up in Kansas. Joyce would later say that she knew Roy was the man she was going to marry. The pair married November 28, 1957 and left immediately as Roy had enlisted in the Navy. Roy and Joyce couldn’t wait to start a family. To this union were born two children, LaCinda Dawn Jennings, and Roy E. Jennings III.&nbsp;

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, his parents, his daughter, LaCinda, and his longtime friend, Richard Avery.&nbsp;

He is survived by his son Roy E. (Jay) Jennings, III and wife Nan; six grandchildren; one great grandson; nieces; nephews, and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, Kansas.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00AM on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Clay Center, Kansas.

Burial will be held at 1:30PM on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at the Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Roy and Joyce Jennings Revocable Scholarship Fund and can be sent in care of the funeral home.

Roy Jennings, Jr

Jack Wilder, 88, of Clay Center died on Monday, December 4, 2023 at &nbsp;Advena Living of Clay Center, Kansas. &nbsp;He was born on September 21, 1935 in Clay Center, the son of Charles and Viola (Gebhardt) Wilder. &nbsp;

Jack grew up in Clay Center and graduated from CCCHS in 1953. &nbsp;He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1957, returning to Clay Center in 1957 and worked at Sears-Roebuck for a short time. Jack married Irene Walsh and they later divorced. &nbsp;He then married Darylene (Gunter) Carver on December 10, 1966 and she preceded him in death on October 20, 2023. &nbsp;Jack started his own wholesale business, selling various items to convenience stores in the surrounding areas for over 50 years.

He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where he was an usher, Elder and a member of the evangelical committee. &nbsp;Jack was also a member of the American Legion.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; son, Jacky; great granddaughter, Saraya Ciampa and sister JoAnn Wilder.

Jack is survived by his daughters, Sherry and husband, Christian Ruiz of Andover, KS, Lisa and husband, Tim Kaufman of Clay Center, KS, Darla Wilder of Junction City, KS, and Linda and husband, Dennis Parry of Moundridge, KS; son, James “Jay” Carver; 15 grandchildren, Jill Wasko, Mindy (David) Parry, Holly (Matt) Plank, Jesse Taunton (Amy), Jareth Taunton, Aaron Jones, Jon (Sari) Cunningham, Jason (Rachel) Cunningham, Jeremy Cunningham, Jacob Ruiz, Ray Davis, Jennifer (Phillip) Ciampa, Lacy (Mike) Abell, Amanda Houchin (Clayton Mason) and Michael Houchin &nbsp;and 30 great grandchildren, Adelyn, Baby Parry, Paisley, Lucas, Elijah, Caden, Chance, Aeriana, Clara, Corbin, Titus, Lydia, Gideon, Evangeline, Ezra, Chloe, Abigail, Ryland, Emma, Izzy, Ally, Jeremiah, Gracelyn, Ezra, Lily, Isaiah, TJ, Monica, Hunter Ray and Hailyn.

Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Friday, December 8, 2023 at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center, Kansas.
