Hye Sun Sloop, 68, of Holton, KS, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2023,&nbsp; at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 10, 1954, in 
Yongdok-kun Kyongbuk-Do, South Korea, the daughter of Nam To Ho and Kwon
 O Son.

Sun graduated from high school in South Korea and earned 
some college credit in art. She owned and operated, with her husband, 
Keith, Quality Cleaners in Hiawatha, KS for over 25 years. After moving 
to Holton in 2006, she worked about 5 years at Holton Community 
Hospital, over 6 years for Dr. Vance Lassey at Holton Direct Care and in
 the Dietary Dept. for Medicalodges of Jackson County.&nbsp;

Her passion was taking care of her husband, children, 
grandchildren and extended family. She also enjoyed her walk around Elk 
Horn Lake, cooking – Korean cuisine, gardening, playing bingo and slot 
machines.

She married Keith Leon Sloop on November 26, 1976, in Seoul, South Korea. They celebrated over 46 years of marriage.

Survivors include her husband, Keith of the home; 2 
daughters, Tracy Mercer (Chris) of Holton, KS and Heather Westpfahl 
(Jason) of Liberty, MO; 2 sons, Scott Sloop (Rosie) of Seneca, KS and 
Kevin Sloop (Katie) of Manhattan, KS; her best friend, Yon Si of Irving,
 TX; 3 sisters, Nam Sun Ja, Nam Kung Sun and Nam Un Kyong; brother, Nam 
Yong Jae; 12 grandchildren, Kaleb Smith (Morgan), Grant Mercer, Katelynn
 Gantt, Nick Sloop, Makayla Sloop, Richard Sloop, Megan Mercer, Ronna 
Gantt, Makenna Sloop, Peyton Westpfahl, Regan Sloop and Ali Sloop and 3 
great-grandchildren, Gatlin, Jennings and Brecken Smith.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Nam Hye Kung.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023,&nbsp; at the Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. The family will greet friends 
from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at the 
Wheaton Cemetery. Sun will lie in state from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. 
Wednesday and until service time on Thursday. Family requests casual 
dress.

Christopher L. Cease was born June 30, 1973, in Wamego, Kansas, the son of
 Larry and Sheryl (Holloway) Cease. He grew up in Wamego enjoying 
playing sports and graduated from Wamego High School with the class of 
1991. (Not sure on that) 
On April 29, 2011, he was united in marriage to Tonya Martens in Ponca 
City, Oklahoma. Chris was a hard working dad and husband and was very 
involved with his kids, helping them by coaching baseball, basketball, 
and football. He worked for Midco Plastics in Enterprise for several 
years as a Production Manager and then for Land Pride as a paint line 
lead. 
Chris passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023, at his home in Abilene with 
his family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife Tonya of the 
home, father Larry Cease of Wamego, sons Christopher and his wife Jewlia
 Cease of Abilene, Chrisxavier Cease of Enterprise, step daughter Kyla 
Hasselman of Abilene, step sons Logan Hasselman of Washington State, 
Rhyce Hasselman of Abilene, Nathan Hasselman of Abilene, brother Garnett
 Cease and his wife Annie of Manhattan, grandchildren Ella and Oaklen 
Cease. He was preceded in death by his mother. 
Cremation has been selected by Chris’s family. A memorial service will 
be 11:00 am Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Danner Funeral Home in

Robert B. Niehoff Sr. was born in 1928, and entered eternal life on March 16, 2023. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years and mother of his eight children, Carolyn Lynch Niehoff; his parents Charles and Lillian Niehoff; his sisters Helen Demling; Thelma Tanner; Lillian Brauner; Margaret Raque; Ruth Hutcherson; brothers Joseph and Herman Niehoff.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 32 years Fay Comfort Niehoff; his children Kathleen Wheatley of Bellbrook, OH; Susan Mize (Lynn) of Pensacola, FL; Robert B. Niehoff Jr. (Marilyn); Brian Niehoff (Usha Reddi) of Manhattan, KS; Timothy Niehoff (Timmie Butler); Patrick (Peggy) of Ft. Mitchell, KY; Laurie Niehoff of New York, NY; John (Lisa); Lisa Comfort Brooks (Richard); Mark Comfort (Joan) of Lexington, KY; Paul Comfort (Paula) of Savannah, GA; and 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Bob
 was a lifelong resident of Louisville and a 1945 graduate of St. 
Xavier High School. He was a longtime employee of Kentucky Dairies and 
Sealtest. He retired from Rohm and Haas Chemical.

Music was always an important part of Bob’s life. He played trombone from the time he was in the 6th grade until he wa 94 years old. He played with the Holy Name Band and several dance bands, most often with the Don Krekel Orchestra. He was also a very talented carpenter and handyman.

Bob was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa. He loved our many family parties.

Several of his children inherited his talent for music, and all loved to entertain.

He was a member of the Catholic Church of the Epiphany, where he served as Eucharistic minister to the homebound. He also volunteered at the Franciscan Kitchen for many years. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be at Ratterman Funeral Home, 12900 Shelbyville Road on March 30 at 5:00 PM. Mass and Christian burial will be held at Epiphany Church at 914 Old Harrods Creek Road on March 31 at 10:00 AM.

Terry "T.W." Decker, 84, passed away at Salina Regional on March 12, 
2023.  He was born April 18, 1938, to Wesley Decker and Beulah (Walton) 
Decker.  He attended a rural grade school and graduated from Abilene 
High School in 1956. 

 He married Marylyn Miller on April 12, 1984, in 
Reno, Nevada.  He was employed by Abilene Flour Mill, 
Archer-Daniels-Midland, Mobile Travelers and retired from Great Plains 
Mfg. 

T.W. was in the Army Reserves for six years. His favorite pasttime was fishing. He enjoyed bowling with team members throughout the 
years. Terry was on the Vidricksen team when they captured second place
 in the 1983 ABC tournament in Baltimore. His hobby was drilling 
bowling balls at Westwood Pro Shop and doing ball work for Junction City
 Bowling Lanes. Terry and Marylyn enjoyed many bowling trips across the
 country. The late night fishing on Milford Lake with friends and 
relaxing in Branson. 
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, sister; Sharon Flipso in 2016 and in-laws; Ron and Sonjia Miller. 
Survivors include, Wife; Marylyn, Two nieces; Shannon (Doug) Pallo and 
Wendy (Steve) Getzfrid, one nephew; Scott (Polly) Miller.

Terry 'T.W.' Decker

Carol Ann (Jack) McDowell was born on July 10, 1945 in Hutchinson, Kansas 
to John Henry and Geneva Mae (Williams) Jack. The family moved around 
the Midwest throughout her childhood before eventually settling in the 
El Dorado area where she graduated from Butler County Junior College. 
She married her loving husband, Keith, on January 1, 1967. They had 51 
wonderful years together through which they raised sons, Jeff and Brian.
 When the boys started school, Carol worked in many capacities: 
Travel agent, bookkeeper, paraprofessional for the hearing impaired, 
City Clerk and numerous hours volunteering at local hospitals. Carol 
and her family were well loved in their many communities including 
Manhattan, KS; Lee's Summit, MO; Centerton, AR; and Bartlesville, OK. 
Carol enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing and shopping. She could often 
be found getting her favorite Rt 44 drink at Sonic (easy on the ice). 
Carol was a steadfast Christian and involved in multiple church 
communities. She and Keith were faithful members of Crestview Christian 
Church in Manhattan and East Bartlesville Christian Church. Her greatest
 joy was her grandchildren. Carol went to her heavenly father on March 24, 2023, at Homestead Estates in Wichita, KS surrounded by family. She
 is survived by son Jeff (Tammy) McDowell of Elk City, OK; son Brian 
(Lisa) McDowell of Baldwin City, KS; grandsons Joshua and Jackson 
McDowell of Elk City, OK; granddaughter Alex (Aaron) Grunewald of 
Coffeyville, KS; granddaughter Rylie (Tyson) Kuhn of Buhler, KS; brother
 Dale Jack of Leon, KS; brother Joe (Laura) Jack of El Dorado, KS; 
sister Judy (Gary) Trecek of Topeka, KS; brother Loren (Kathy) of El

Carol Ann McDowell

Rosie Livengood, 79, died March 25, 2023, in rural Morganville, KS.&nbsp; 
She was born on July 17, 1943, in Clay Center, the daughter of Harlan and
 Marguerite (Nelson) Young.&nbsp; 

Rosie grew up in Clay County and was a 
graduate of Morganville High School. She married Lon Livengood on July 
23, 1961.&nbsp; They farmed and made their home in rural Morganville.&nbsp; Rosie 
worked as a bookkeeper at Gibson’s and as a clerk and later a meter 
reader for KP&amp;L.&nbsp; 

She was a member of the Morganville United 
Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening.&nbsp; Rosie was preceded in death by 
her parents and two brothers, Duane and Dale Young.

Rosie Livengood

Lynnette Faye Reese, 73, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away on Friday,
 March 24, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas. 
Cremation will take place. No memorial service is planned. Lynnette was born February 25, 1950, in Watertown, New York, the daughter of Dennie and Audrey (King) Hanlon. Lynnette
 worked as a Certified Nurse Aid for many years at Mercy Hospital in 
Watertown, New York. She loved her fur babies and spending time with her
 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lynnette is survived by 
one son, Randy Hanlon and his wife Bobbie of Junction City, Kansas; two 
daughters, Ruthie Reese and Roberta Anderson both of Wisconsin; five 
grandchildren fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doreen King and

 March 24, 2023, at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, Kansas. 
Cremation will take place. No memorial service is planned. Lynnette was born February 25, 1950, in Watertown, New York, the daughter of Dennie and Audrey (King) Hanlon. Lynnette
 worked as a Certified Nurse Aid for many years at Mercy Hospital in 
Watertown, New York. She loved her fur babies and spending time with her
 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lynnette is survived by 
one son, Randy Hanlon and his wife Bobbie of Junction City, Kansas; two 
daughters, Ruthie Reese and Roberta Anderson both of Wisconsin; five 
grandchildren fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doreen King and 
Karleen Eveleigh. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Patricia Elkin and Sharlene Drake.

Lynnette Faye Reese

Paul Walter Batt, formerly of Liberal, KS, passed away on March 22, 
2023, at Bellvue Nursing Home in Oklahoma City, to join Jesus and his 
best friend and wife, Evelyn Batt who passed before him.

He was born number six in a family of nine, on the family farm at 
Shattuck, Oklahoma on November 26, 1941, to Sam and Hulda Batt. Paul 
lived there until the age of 10, before moving to the new family farm at
 Logan, Oklahoma.

He spent the rest of his childhood and early adult years helping run 
the family farm and dairy. He took great pride in having his dairy 
cattle. He then moved to Liberal Kansas, where he met Evelyn Downing at 
the Snack Shack in 1968. He proposed to her later that year in front of 
her parent’s house. The two were married February 1, 1969. They enjoyed 
53 wonderful years of marriage.

Paul worked for Tradewinds and Boles Ranch, before settling into a 
career starting in 1976 at National Beef, before his retirement in 2012.
 He and Evelyn spent days together transporting vehicles for a local car
 dealer. They were members of the New Beginnings Church in Liberal.

His greatest passions were time with family, fishing trips to the 
Colorado mountains, reading the Bible, and spending days in his shop 
designing and building numerous projects like three-wheeled bikes. 
Almost an aspiring inventor, he had a creative mind for fabricating an 
idea Into something purposeful. 

Paul is survived by their two sons, David and wife Dana, of 
Manhattan, KS and Donovan and wife Lisa, of Turpin, Oklahoma. He is also
 survived by grandchildren, Dawson and wife Jolee, Anna, Sammi, Paul 
David, Drew, and Dillon, as well as two great-grandchildren, Dacen and 
Daxon. Also surviving are siblings Leland (Ella Mae) Batt, Charlotte 
Brooks, Mary (Bill) Nichols, Pauline (Dale) Ditto, and Sam Batt. Other 
family surviving are sister-in-law Virginia (Ed) Means, sister-in-law 
Kathryn Dotson, brother-in-law Gene (Joann) Downing, and numerous nieces
 and nephews. 

Passing before him, besides parents Sam and Hulda, were his wife 
Evelyn, Rosie (Martin) Pope, George Batt, and Margaret Heil. Anyone who 
met this gentle soul realized the privilege of knowing a genuine 
follower of Jesus, who will be greatly missed by countless friends and 
family.

Visitation will be 4-8 pm Tuesday, March 28, at Buchanan Funeral 
Service in Oklahoma City. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. on 
Wednesday, March 29, at the funeral home. 

Graveside service and burial 
will be Thursday, March 30, at Liberal City Cemetery, Liberal, KS at 
10:30 a.m

Paul Walter Batt

Margaret
 Ann Allen. Age 66, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023, at Manna House of
 Prayer, Concordia, Kansas, where she had requested to spend her last 
days on hospice with the Sisters of St. Joseph there. Margaret was born 
September 2, 1956, at Hays, Kansas, daughter of Gladys M. Phillips and 
Thomas C. Allen of Plainville, Kansas. She graduated from Plainville 
Rural High School in 1974 and Fort Hays State University in 1978.

She
 married her best friend, John McKillip Edmonds, at Sacred Heart Church 
in Plainville, Kansas on February 1, 1980. He preceded her in death on 
October 24, 2013. They had two children, John Thomas and Wallis Sofie.

Margaret
 was a journalist. She worked for the Ellis County Star, the Manhattan 
Mercury, Scotts Bluff Star-Harold, Wichita Eagle, Daily Journal in 
Caracas, Venezuela and the Hays Daily News. She also worked for the 
Dallas Business Journal and was Science Writer for Southern Methodist 
University in the News and Communications Center in Dallas, Texas. Her 
expert communications resulted in a trip to CERN (European Organization 
for Nuclear Research Research) near Geneva, Switzerland where she toured
 the Large Hadron Collider, the most powerful particle accelerator ever 
built. The accelerator sits in a tunnel 100 meters underground on the 
Franco-Swiss border near Geneva, Switzerland.

Margaret
 is survived by her children and one grandchild, Sarai Jackson, Hays; 
brothers Michael (Paula) of Douglas, Georgia and John (June Knittel) of 
Hays; sister, Marcia Allen, CSJ of Concordia; nieces Josie (Jesse) 
Thompson and children,&nbsp; Hoxie, KS, Jessalyn (Zach) Brungardt, Hays; Anna
 Balthazor (Jason Rushford) and children, Wichita, Marlo (Daniel) Ross

Margaret Ann Allen

Gerald Lee Laudermilk passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2023, at Abilene Memorial Hospital at the age of 87. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Abilene located at 505 NW 3rd St. from 2:00PM - 4:00PM on Saturday April 1, 2023. 
Jerry was born in Holtville, California on August 1, 1935. He was the oldest of three children; his brother, Ronald, is three years younger and his sister, Linda, is five years younger. Unfortunately, when Jerry was in high school, their father passed away. He then took on work responsibilities to help his family. Jerry enjoyed music from an 
early age and taught himself to play piano by ear on an old upright piano.

His brother describes Jerry hearing music at the local movie theater and then coming home and playing it on the piano. His first music teacher taught him to read music when she noticed he didn’t know how. Afterwards, he participated in vocal and instrumental music at Holtville High School. With the encouragement of his mother, Jerry decided to study music at San Diego State University.

Three days after his college graduation, he was drafted into the United States Army and flown to Fort Riley, Kansas. Following basic training, he became a corporal directing the Fort Riley Chorus for military functions including playing for President Eisenhower. In an unusual turn of events, the Abilene Unified School District contacted Fort Riley needing a music teacher. Jerry was honorably discharged to work for USD 435 at Abilene High School.

Once relocated to Abilene, Jerry enjoyed teaching vocal ensemble, chorus, piano, fifth grade music and producing annual operettas. He assumed he would only stay one year, but the charm of the people of Abilene drew him to stay the remainder of his lifetime. He met his wife, Susan Strom, an Abilene High School physical education teacher in 1971. They were married on January 16, 1973. An adoring husband, Jerry delighted in celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary on January 16, 2023.

During his 36 year career as a vocal music and piano teacher, Jerry’s passion was producing high school operettas such as: Sound of Music, Fiddler of the Roof, South Pacific, Paint Your Wagon, Carousel, Bye-Bye Birdie, Wizard of Oz, My Fair Lady, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, The King and I and numerous others. He loved telling colorful stories to his students, and his students enjoyed asking questions to purposely sidetrack Mr. Laudermilk into telling them. Additionally, Jerry served as the choir director for the First Presbyterian Church Choir for 39 years.

Gerald touched the lives of many students and families over the course of his working 
career. Jerry is survived by his wife, Susan Laudermilk, of Abilene, 
Kansas, his daughter, son-in-law and grandson, Allison, Clairfoster and Samuel Browne, of Los Angeles, California, and his son, Travis Laudermilk, of Overland Park, Kansas. As a father and grandfather, he loved playing creatively using silly voices, teaching music, gardening, working on projects around the house, watching the news and discussing current events. His brother, Ronnie, resides in El Cajon, California near his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. His sister, Linda, her children and grandchildren live in Holtville, California. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones who feel so fortunate to have loved a one-of-a-kind brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend.

The Reverend Robert E. Davis Sr., age 65, of Wheelersburg, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the 
SOMC Emergency Room. He was born June 22, 1957, a son of the late James 
and Shelby (Speaks) Davis, and his adopted parents, Leonard and Darlene 
Westberg of Junction City, KS. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology from Texas Bible 
College in Houston, TX. He loved preaching and his ministry touched 
thousands of lives worldwide. He had a passion for missions and building
 churches internationally, he was fearless in his preaching (even when 
in extreme pain), and dedicated to the apostolic doctrine especially the
 message of Acts 2:38. He was an avid reader, well known for his humor, 
kindness, and generosity. He spent many hours teaching, counseling, and 
praying for those that he had the privilege of pastoring.&nbsp; He was a 
friend to the loner, the misunderstood, and the outcast. Reverend Davis is survived by his wife, Dolly (Williams) Davis; a
 son, Robert E. Davis Jr. and wife Katie of Wheelersburg; a daughter, 
Ashley N. Davis of Wheelersburg; one brother Thomas Davis and wife Amy 
of Hackett, AR; one sister Teri Mills and husband Paul of Dallas, TX; 
grandchildren, Robert “Trey” III, Branson, Adalyn, Josiah, Caysen, 
Shelby, and Garrett. His legacy will continue through his family, his 
church members, and ministers he loved so much. Funeral Services will be
 11:00 AM Tuesday March 28, 2023 at Truth Tabernacle in Wheelersburg 
with Rev. William Pittman officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial

MSG (RET) Willie Clifford Murphy, 82, of Junction City, Kansas, passed 
away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving 
family. 

A funeral will take place 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2023, at 
the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Redo Purnell officiating. 
Burial will follow the service with full military honors at Kansas 
Veterans' Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives 5-7 
Wednesday evening March 29, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home. Willie was born July 26, 1940, in Columbus, Georgia, the son of Henry and Annie Mae (Williams) Murphy. Mr.
 Murphy served in the Unites States Army. After his military retirement,
 he worked at Fort Riley in various maintenance and logistics positions.
 He was a member and Past Commander of the V.F.W. Post # 8773 and the 
American Legion Post #45. On July 12, 2008, he married Linda K. Smith-Williams in Junction City, Kansas. Survivors
 include his wife Linda of Junction City, Kansas; six sons, Andrew 
William Murphy, Andrew Williams and Walter Wadford all from Junction 
City, Kansas, Patrick Broadnix, Greg M. Murphy and Carlos Murphy, all 
from Georgia; two daughters, Audrey Ford of Wichita, Kansas, Michelle 
Robinson Murphy of Columbus, Georgia, Lisa Taylor of Tulsa, Oklahoma, 
Lynnetta Mays and Mahogany Wadford both of Houston, Texas; a host of 
grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. He
 was preceded in death by his parents; ten siblings, Henry Murphy Jr., 
Willie James Murphy, Johnny Lee Murphy, Betty Ann Murphy, Frank Murphy, 
Robert Lee Murphy, Lula Ann Murphy, Betty Jean Murphy, Clarence Murphy

the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Redo Purnell officiating. 
Burial will follow the service with full military honors at Kansas 
Veterans' Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives 5-7 
Wednesday evening March 29, 2023, at Johnson Funeral Home. Willie was born July 26, 1940, in Columbus, Georgia, the son of Henry and Annie Mae (Williams) Murphy. Mr.
 Murphy served in the Unites States Army. After his military retirement,
 he worked at Fort Riley in various maintenance and logistics positions.
 He was a member and Past Commander of the V.F.W. Post # 8773 and the 
American Legion Post #45. On July 12, 2008, he married Linda K. Smith-Williams in Junction City, Kansas. Survivors
 include his wife Linda of Junction City, Kansas; six sons, Andrew 
William Murphy, Andrew Williams and Walter Wadford all from Junction 
City, Kansas, Patrick Broadnix, Greg M. Murphy and Carlos Murphy, all 
from Georgia; two daughters, Audrey Ford of Wichita, Kansas, Michelle 
Robinson Murphy of Columbus, Georgia, Lisa Taylor of Tulsa, Oklahoma, 
Lynnetta Mays and Mahogany Wadford both of Houston, Texas; a host of 
grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. He
 was preceded in death by his parents; ten siblings, Henry Murphy Jr., 
Willie James Murphy, Johnny Lee Murphy, Betty Ann Murphy, Frank Murphy,

Glenna F. Burckel

Delbert passed away Friday, March 17, 2023, while in the company of 
family and friends at McPherson Center for Health. He had attained the 
age of 93 years old. 

Delbert was born in Wamego, Kansas on May 
22, 1929, to Ruth (Berroth) and Matt Bohn. He was one of 8 children; 
Charles, Jean, Bernice, Dave, Adella, Judy, and Larry. Delbert attended 
school at Rural District 48 in Alma, Kansas and took his first job at 
Hoffinstein Construction. He was united in his first marriage to Ilene 
Glenn in 1948. They were blessed with four daughters; Cindy, Tina, 
Debbie, and Toni. Delbert was united in marriage to Maxine Wash on 
November 21, 1965. Maxine had two children; Carolyn and Kenneth. Delbert
 made his home in McPherson, Kansas with his wife Maxine and 6 children.


 He was a lifelong professional truck driver for over 40 years. He drove
 for various companies including Otis Bryant Trucking, Don Linden 
Trucking, Ryan Reiff, and Farmland hauling freight, gasoline, propane, 
and ammonia. Delbert had an exemplary driving record totaling 3 million 
miles with no accidents. He had a great eye because he never missed 
anything lying on the side of the road. His sheds were always full of 
screwdrivers, tarp straps, wrenches, pliers, and more of the items he 
found during his time over the road. 

When he wasn’t driving a truck, he 
loved to spend time with his family and was an avid gardener. He was 
known for sharing his garden spoils and would deliver them to friends 
and family in the area. He also loved tractors, spending time at the VFW
 and Legion having dinner with friends, and feeding squirrels and birds 
in his backyard. Delbert was a member of the First Presbyterian Church 
in McPherson, Kansas. 

He is survived by his wife Maxine Bohn of the 
home; children, Carolyn Shamet &amp; Dean Henry of McPherson, KS, 
Kenneth Wash and wife Janice of Olathe, KS, Cindy Hertlein and husband 
Mike of Topeka, KS, Tina Hamilton and husband Brian of Salina, KS, 
Debbie Harman of Salina, KS, and Toni Thompson and husband Greg of 
Bastrop, TX. His siblings Adella Parks, McPherson, Judy Oppenlander, 
Wamego, Larry Bohn, Alma, close friend Mike Krehbiel, McPherson, many 
nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Delbert had 14 Grandchildren,

Delbert A. Bohn

On Sunday, March 19, 2023 Kari lost her struggle with cancer but 
triumphed over death, entering into the embrace of God’s eternal love. 
Kari was born on April 17. 1971 in Mesa, Arizona, to a military family 
living in Tempe, Arizona. 

Her father, U.S. Air Force (Ret) Lt. Col., 
Leon Torkelson, who was a fighter pilot and his assignments occasioned 
numerous family relocations. Kari’s mother, Glenda, was a schoolteacher 
and always told Kari how lucky she was to be able to move to and enjoy 
new places.  Kari had a lifelong love for travel and the opportunities 
for learning it provided. 

In addition to Arizona, Kari lived in 
California, West Germany, Alabama, Virginia, Nevada, Norway and Kansas. 
She attended four elementary schools, two junior high schools, and three
 high schools. At the age of fifteen, Kari spent her sophomore year in 
Norway as an exchange student. Kari was a cheerleader, band member 
(trombone), athlete holding the record for javelin and Salutatorian of 
her 1989 high school class at Atchison County Community High School. 
Kari attended the University of Kansas earning her undergraduate degree 
in 1993 and in 1999, her Master of Science Degree in 
Education-Counseling. Kari participated in college activities and sports
 including the KU and, later, K-State Women’s’ Rugby teams. She was a 
member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority, Kansas University Band and Tau Beta 
Sigma -the honorary women’s band society. 
Kari married Brian Anderson on July 5, 2003. Kari and Brian’s children, 
the twins, Jonas and Anya, were born in 2006 and are currently high 
school Juniors at Lansing High School. 
Kari began her teaching career in Robinson, Kansas followed by two years
 teaching for the Department of Defense in Japan. After completing her 
Masters degree, she worked as a High School Counselor in Junction City, 
KS and later worked as a Counselor at Pleasant Ridge High School.

For 
the last four years, Kari worked as College/Career Counselor at Lansing 
High School and was a member of the American School Counselor 
Association. As a high school counselor, Kari always found time to 
listen and help her students in any way possible. She attended almost 
every athletic event, play and music concert. The students knew that she
 was in attendance and cheering them on! She also served as a Coach of 
the Lansing High School Scholars Bowl team. 
Kari always expressed a strong sense of patriotism, a genuine love of 
and respect for people and a strong desire to help others. In addition 
to school and family activities, Kari was an active participant and 
leader in numerous church and civic organizations. She served as a 
Member and Chapter Regent of the Kansas State Society- Daughters of the 
American Revolution (DAR) and was voted the Outstanding Junior DAR 
member in 2005; Member and Past President of a P.E.O. Chapter; and 
several programs and activities at the First United Methodist Church, 
Leavenworth. She also enjoyed coaching the twins’ youth soccer and 
basketball teams. 
Kari is survived by her husband, Brian, and her children, Jonas and 
Anya. She is also survived by her mother, Glenda Torkelson, brother, 
Kurt Torkelson, and his wife, Amy; their children Aubrey, Chase and 
Brody; and her mother-in-law, Colleen Anderson . 
She was preceded in death by her father, Leon Torkelson, and father-in-law, Kenneth Anderson. 
The family will greet friends at Leintz Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 
28 from 5 to 8 P.M. Kari’s life will be celebrated at First United 
Methodist Church, 422 Chestnut Street, Leavenworth, on Wednesday, March

Darrell Lee Clauson, 65, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at his home in Wamego.

Born June 5, 1957 in Raymondville, Texas, Darrell was the son of 
Donald and Kathrine L. (Roberts) Clauson.&nbsp; At 18 years old, he joined the
 U.S. Marine Corp where he proudly served his country. Soon after 
leaving the service, he moved to Lubbock, Texas and met his future wife,
 Charlyn White. They married on September 3, 1983. Their daughter Loryn 
(punkin head) was born in 1986. The family moved to Wamego in 1994.

An avid Dallas Cowboys fan, Darrell also enjoyed drinking a beer with
 his family and friends. With a curious mind he liked building his 
collections, shooting his guns, playing the guitar, feeding the birds, 
and appreciated political debate. He enjoyed good times with his 
co-workers and friends, never taking anything too seriously, and loved a
 good joke. He was most content at his home with his family close-by. He
 was a loving son, brother, and uncle to his and Charlyn’s family, which
 to him was simply family. He especially adored his wife and daughter. 
Darrell was a man of few words but with a big heart that loved 
unconditionally.

Darrell was employed as a Control Room Operator at Jeffrey Energy Center for 28 years.&nbsp;

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Charlyn;&nbsp; daughter, Loryn 
Clauson (Adam Hodge) of Toledo, OH;&nbsp; granddaughter, Alex Hodge;&nbsp; sister,
 Denise Coghlan (Brett) of Brenham, TX; brothers, Donnie Clauson (Sandy)
 of Martinez, GA and Bobby Clark (Fiance’, Nathifah) of Draper, UT; and 
several nieces and nephews.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Ed Clark; and sister, Louise Kretzmann.

The family will meet with friends at a memorial visitation on Sunday 
afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 at Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in 
Wamgeo.

Inurnment with Military Honors will be at a later date in the Roby Cemetery, Roby, Texas.

Darrell Lee Clauson

Susan Kay Peters of Scandia, Kansas, passed away at home, surrounded 
by love on March 20, 2023, at the age of 76. She was born on July 4, 1946,&nbsp; in Clay Center, Kansas, to Floyd Chester and Vivian May (Taylor) 
Tinkham.

She grew up in Washington, Kansas, and attended Washington
 schools. She went on to attend Kansas State University until she wed 
her high school sweetheart, Duane Leroy Peters. They were married&nbsp;in 
Washington at the First United Methodist Church on April 17, 1965. This 
union brought two children, Steven Michael&nbsp;and Amy Sue.

Susan's life was a true testament to her character and upbringing, and spent her lifetime caring for family and friends.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Susan
 cherished her time spent with her children and grandchildren. She 
instilled in her family that the simple things in life will always bring
 you joy that will last beyond a lifetime. She taught them the art of 
making a house a home, the magic of finding pictures in the clouds, the 
beauty in every rock, the healing powers of music, and the simple 
comfort of a good cup of coffee. Friends and family always knew the door
 was open and to come on in.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents. 

She
 is survived by her husband Duane, of Scandia, Kansas; her children, 
Steve Peters, of Scandia, Kansas, and Amy (Bryan) Rickard, of Scandia,

Tinkham.She grew up in Washington, Kansas, and attended Washington
 schools. She went on to attend Kansas State University until she wed 
her high school sweetheart, Duane Leroy Peters. They were married&nbsp;in 
Washington at the First United Methodist Church on April 17, 1965. This 
union brought two children, Steven Michael&nbsp;and Amy Sue.Susan's life was a true testament to her character and upbringing, and spent her lifetime caring for family and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp;Susan
 cherished her time spent with her children and grandchildren. She 
instilled in her family that the simple things in life will always bring
 you joy that will last beyond a lifetime. She taught them the art of 
making a house a home, the magic of finding pictures in the clouds, the 
beauty in every rock, the healing powers of music, and the simple 
comfort of a good cup of coffee. Friends and family always knew the door
 was open and to come on in.Susan was preceded in death by her parents. She
 is survived by her husband Duane, of Scandia, Kansas; her children, 
Steve Peters, of Scandia, Kansas, and Amy (Bryan) Rickard, of Scandia, 
Kansas; grandchildren Ian (Kaylee) Peters, of Riley, Kansas, Taylor 
(Aaron) Racette, of Oakley, Kansas, Lane Peters, of Hays, Kansas, Max 
Rickard, of Scandia, Kansas, Macy Rickard (Zach) of Randall, Kansas, and
 Miles Rickard, of Scandia, Kansas; great-grandchildren Frankie Racette,
 of Oakley, Kansas, and Truman Peters, of Riley, Kansas; and brother

On Sunday, March 19, 2023, Linda Padgett, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, wife, and friend, passed away at the age of 83. Linda was born on October 2, 1939, in Los Angeles, California, to Boyd and Phyliss Davis. 
Linda graduated from high school in Southgate, California, and attended Compton College. Linda married Thomas Padgett and moved to Abilene, Kansas, to raise her children. After the kids were grown and started their own lives, Linda and Tom enjoyed several years living abroad in Germany and traveling throughout Europe before returning to Abilene. After her return, Linda worked as a cook at Sterling House in Abilene and at St. Francis in Salina where the kids called her Grandma. She also worked at Green Ford and at Ron Holmes Insurance agency. After retirement, Linda enjoyed volunteering at Impact Sports and Fitness and the Abilene Memorial Hospital gift shop as well as the gift shop in Old Abilene Carousel. Everywhere Linda worked, her coworkers fell in love with her. She was a sassy, quirky lady who did her job and always expected the same of those around her. Linda enjoyed reading, attending arts and crafts festivals, visiting casinos, and watching football, but her favorite pastime was spending time with family and friends. Whether it was wrestling, basketball, football, gymnastics, choir or band concerts, or a theater performance, if her children or grandchildren were participating, Linda was there. She was the biggest Chiefs and KSU fan! If they were playing on TV, the world came to a standstill until the game was over. And boy, did she enjoy letting everyone know when the ref “got it wrong.” Game time was so much fun with Linda around, and we’re not sure what these teams will do without her here to cheer them on. &nbsp;Linda is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Thomas, her children Mike (Trina) McCarty of Manhattan, KS, and Mary (Dennis) Van Dorn of McPherson, KS, a brother, Boyd (Lynn) Davis of California, two sisters, Bonney (Parker) Bence and Jeannie Morris, both of Washington, nieces and nephews, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Linda Padgett

Dan Laverne Ward of Clay Center, KS died on Monday, March 20, 2023, 
in Memorial Hermann Hospital in The Woodlands, TX. He was 93 years old. 


He was born to Lester and Crystal Ward on July 26, 1929. He was raised 
and attended public schools in Clay Center, along with his brother Don 
and sisters Lynette and Carol. He graduated from the University of 
Kansas and served in the US Air Force as a pilot.

He married Jerrie Moore and had two children, Keith and Cathy Ward. 
He divorced and re-married Sylvia (Wooster) Burkart. He adopted her four
 children, Rosalind (Ward) Palumbo, Ronnie, Rena (Ward) Thames and 
Randy. Together, they also had two children of their own, Dan, Jr and 
Tamara (Ward) Dermody. He divorced Sylva and remarried Elizabeth 
(Englund) Ward. 

They lived in San Antonio and Clay Center, but 
eventually found their way to Blanco, Tx where they lived for 40 years. 
He worked in retail selling carpeting, draperies and furniture. He also 
owned his own lumber yard in Clay Center and later a carpet and drapery 
store in Johnson City, TX.&nbsp; His sense of humor and pranking style was 
enjoyed (or tolerated) by all that knew him. He will be greatly missed.

He has 14 Grandchildren and 10 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, April 7, 2023, in Greenwood Cemetery.

Dorene J. Taylor, 98, Westmoreland, KS, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2023, at Stoneybrook Memory Care of Manhattan.

Dorene was born March 17, 1925, on her family farm in the Flush, 
KS area, the daughter of Henry A. and Johanna F. (Nutman) Dekat. She 
attended Flush grade school and high school and then graduated from 
nursing school. On January 5, 1945, she was united in marriage to 
Crawford W. Taylor. He preceded her in death on December 31, 2007.

She worked at Dechairo Hospital in Westmoreland for almost 40 
years as the administrator, bookkeeper, head nurse and surgical 
assistant. Dorene was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church 
of Flush and served as a board member of the Westy Community Care Home 
for many years.

She enjoyed quilting and had a passion for gardening. Being with 
her children, and sharing time with the grandchildren and 
great-grandchildren, was her favorite time. Celebrating her birthdays 
became a time she loved to host a Mexican feast for the family, and 
Christmas with the kids was her favorite time.

Dorene was one of 9 children.&nbsp; 6 brothers: Art, Don, Cleo, 
Gilbert, Bernard, and Carl, and 2 sisters: Loretta Straub and Isabell 
Gareis. All have preceded her in death. She is survived by her children:
 Bernard Taylor (Carla), Houston, MO, Buz Taylor (Linda),&nbsp; Frankfort, 
KS, Beth Brunkow, Louisville, KS, and Brenda Platt (Riley), Manhattan, 
KS; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and a sister in-law Rita 
Snapp of Westmoreland.

A Rosary will be recited at Campanella and Stewart Funeral Home of
 Wamego on Thursday, March 30th, at 7:00 p.m. followed by a visitation 
with family greeting friends until 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial 
will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Friday, March 31st, at 
10:30 a.m., with burial following in Westmoreland Cemetery.

 was born in Marysville, on July 23, 1961, to Roland D. and Phyllis A. 
(Koch) Dilley.&nbsp; She graduated from LaBrea High School in Warren, Ohio.&nbsp; 
She married Kerry Roepke, they were later divorced.&nbsp; She was also 
married to Don Eckart, they were later divorced.&nbsp; She attended St. Mark 
Lutheran Church in Waterville.

Lisa
 enjoyed traveling, crafting, drying and then arranging flowers.&nbsp; She 
also enjoyed listening to music and attending concerts, her favorite was
 Rock music, with the occasional country song.&nbsp; She loved to go garage 
saling, especially for her grandkids.&nbsp; She also loved candy and had a 
particular liking of chocolate. Mostly she loved her family and making a
 big deal out of holidays for them, mainly Christmas.&nbsp; No matter what, 
she always kept contact with her brothers and sisters.

Survivors
 include her five children: John Lenno and Tony Lenno of Topeka, 
Courtney (Rusty) Dummermuth of Barnes, Caitlynn Roepke of Hutchinson, 
and Sarah Eckart of Blue Rapids, five siblings: Debbie (Edward) Stratton
 of Locust Grove, Virginia, Roland “Skip” (Ann) Dilley of Henderson, 
Nevada, Scott Dilley of St. Clairsville, Ohio, Gregory Dilley of 
Shadyside, Ohio, and Robin Mosburg of Glasco, and by twelve 
grandchildren.

Preceding Lisa in death were her parents, Roland and Phyllis.

Rosie Wenzl Klozenbucher, gentle soul, 
good neighbor, and an endlessly patient mother and grandmother from 
Greenleaf, died Feb. 3 at the Linn Community Care Home. She was 88.&nbsp;

She was born Rosemary Frances Fiegener, in Clay Center in 1934, to 
parents scratching out life in the Depression.&nbsp;&nbsp;They were getting 
divorced, and her mother Rose was mortally ill but did not know it; Rose
 died when Rosemary was two.&nbsp;A visitor to the house had found Rose 
unconscious on the floor and Rosemary crawling happily around her.

Her father Pete was a poor, shy man who lavished love on Rosemary 
until he got drafted into the U.S. Army. He was killed during the 1944 
battle for the German city of Aachen.

Rosemary, nine years old, refused to believe he was dead; this was a 
fib, she told herself -- told in a family that nurtured grievances and 
fibs. She didn’t cry until three years later when Pete’s coffin came 
home.

After he was drafted, Rosemary would use either a stump or a wooden 
fence rail to climb barefooted and bareback onto Tony, a gentle horse 
kept at the Fiegener family ranch. She was all of five or six years old 
when she first rode Tony. She had two loves, Dad and Tony. And on Tony’s
 back she would trot through the Flint Hills of Pottawatomie County, 
Kansas, with Tony, wildflowers, birdsong and pollinating bees as 
companions. When she fell off, which was frequently, Tony would stand 
still as a gatepost, then find a stump for her climb.

But then Pete died, the family lost the ranch, and Rosemary lost 
Tony. Her three never-married aunts took on her care. They’d grown up in
 a family unfamiliar with affection. They didn’t dislike her; they fed, 
clothed and ignored her.&nbsp;“I might as well have been wallpaper,” she told
 us later. “Or a chair.”

When she reached high school age, the aunts sent her to Mount St. 
Scholastica, the Catholic girls boarding school in Atchison, where 
Rosemary knew no one. She studied mostly alone, never went out, kept a 
little unplanted seed of love close to her heart, pollinated by hope but
 not yet planted. And because it was a girls school, no boys noticed 
that shy little Rosemary Fiegener was drop-dead gorgeous -- dark hair, 
thoughtful dark eyes. And that she radiated kindness.

Her seed, her plan for sowing love, was simple in design, as she told
 us: “It was that if I was ever lucky enough to find love and kids, that
 they would get all that I never got: Hugs, attention, love, attention, 
toys, attention.”&nbsp; &nbsp;

And by and by, a handsome farmer came along, to help his sister move 
into the dorm on the first day of school. He did a double-take in the 
hall when he saw Rosemary. “Oh, WOW,” he said. &nbsp;

“Be nice,” his sister said. “She’s the nicest.”

Gene Wenzl dropped his sister Joan’s bags and patrolled the halls until he found Rosemary.&nbsp;

Gene was a talkative, bright guy who farmed and played trumpet in 
rural dance bands. He sang all the time at work, liked jokes and telling
 stories. He called her Rosie, because he liked nicknames, and she liked
 the name because it made her sound fun, and because it bothered her 
aunts, and so for the rest of her life she was Rosie to many and 
Rosemary to a few.

Rosie told her aunts she would marry Gene. Her aunts told her she 
would do no such thing because they planned to have Rosemary keep house 
for their family, as they had done, loveless and childless.

And for the first time ever, Rosie declared out loud that she would do as she darn well pleased. 

Gene’s parents showered her with love and attention, which startled 
her at first. And soon after she married him in 1954, she and Gene made 
one baby, and then another, and eventually five boys in only nine years.

He sang while he plowed fields; he played trumpet. She showered her 
boys with attention, not just love but attention in the finest of 
details.

She read to her sons every night for many years, no matter how tired,
 or how annoying the little boys. She brought plastic alphabet letters

little boys became entranced by books and so went off to make adventures
 of their own. None of them became lawyers or Hollywood celebrities but 
they all became adrenaline junkies – cops, newspaper reporters, 
paramedics, EMTs, foster parents, mountain climbers, foreign exchange student sponsors, nurses.

Rosie got this started while also doing laundry and cooking and 
gardening and burping babies and helping with homework and running them 
to church, Catechism classes and school, rubbing their backs and putting
 wet washcloths on little faces when they had fevers. She hired a 
babysitter, Pat Lewis, who became a daughter-friend. And when 
girlfriends Sheryl and Sandy and Judy and Carol and Missy showed up, 
they became daughters before they married her sons, and Rosie gave them 
attention and hugs, affection and attention, kindnesses and attention.

Rosie led the Red Cross recovery program after a 1973 tornado 
destroyed much of Greenleaf. She stayed with her church’s Altar Society 
for decades.

Gene died early (1981 at age 50), leaving her with one son still at 
home and a farm on the edge of dissolution. She kept the farm in the 
family, and the sons came to keep it going.&nbsp; 

Rosie took EMT training and spent many years crewing ambulances to 
scenes of accidents, injuries and illnesses. And at the end of her 
aunts’ lives, when they got lost in the house of mirrors of dementia, 
she showered them with attention and love and all the things they had 
not been able to give to her long before. But when in their house she 
found letters her father had written home from the war -- letters her 
aunts had hidden from her -- she cried.

She married Kimeo farmer Ed Klozenbucher in 1986; they spent 27 years
 together until his death in 2013. Gene had loved her dearly but was an 
edgy and impatient spouse; Ed treated her as a princess, as a gift, and 
she who lacked love early in life now cherished that love.

Sixteen grandchildren came, and they and their spouses showered love 
and affection and photos and attention on her. That little seed of love,
 nurtured in her early secret solitude, had grown her a garden of 
happiness. The grands gave her 22 great-grandchildren (so far), and she 
put photos of the grands and great-grands on her walls where she could 
look at them every hour of the day. 

In the nursing home she was hands-down the staff’s choice as the 
nicest and sweetest resident.&nbsp;Grandson Gene was with her when she 
passed.

Her last words were, (to Larry): “I’m so glad you’re here.”

She was preceded in death by her son, Gary.

She leaves her sons, Rich (wife Judy), Almena, Kan.; Tom (Carol), 
Canon City, Colo.; Larry (Sandy) Greenleaf; Roy (Polly), Wichita; and 
daughter-in-laws forever Sheryl Wenzl, Wichita; Missy McLain, Wichita; 
daughter-friend Pat Lewis, Inman, Ks; 16 grandchildren and 22 
great-grandchildren.

A Rosary will be said at 7 pm, Friday, March 24, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greenleaf.

A Memorial Mass for Rosemary will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, 
March 25th, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greenleaf with Father 
Joseph Kieffer and Father John Wolesky as co-celebrants. Carolyn Osborne
 will be the organist.&nbsp; Hymns are to include ”Ave Maria”, “How Great 
Thou Art”, “Amazing Grace” and “May The Angels Be Your Guide”.&nbsp; Bearers 
are Eugene Wenzl and Don Wenzl. Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart 
Catholic Cemetery, east of Greenleaf.

good neighbor, and an endlessly patient mother and grandmother from 
Greenleaf, died Feb. 3 at the Linn Community Care Home. She was 88.&nbsp;She was born Rosemary Frances Fiegener, in Clay Center in 1934, to 
parents scratching out life in the Depression.&nbsp;&nbsp;They were getting 
divorced, and her mother Rose was mortally ill but did not know it; Rose
 died when Rosemary was two.&nbsp;A visitor to the house had found Rose 
unconscious on the floor and Rosemary crawling happily around her.Her father Pete was a poor, shy man who lavished love on Rosemary 
until he got drafted into the U.S. Army. He was killed during the 1944 
battle for the German city of Aachen.Rosemary, nine years old, refused to believe he was dead; this was a 
fib, she told herself -- told in a family that nurtured grievances and 
fibs. She didn’t cry until three years later when Pete’s coffin came 
home.After he was drafted, Rosemary would use either a stump or a wooden 
fence rail to climb barefooted and bareback onto Tony, a gentle horse 
kept at the Fiegener family ranch. She was all of five or six years old 
when she first rode Tony. She had two loves, Dad and Tony. And on Tony’s
 back she would trot through the Flint Hills of Pottawatomie County, 
Kansas, with Tony, wildflowers, birdsong and pollinating bees as 
companions. When she fell off, which was frequently, Tony would stand 
still as a gatepost, then find a stump for her climb.But then Pete died, the family lost the ranch, and Rosemary lost 
Tony. Her three never-married aunts took on her care. They’d grown up in
 a family unfamiliar with affection. They didn’t dislike her; they fed, 
clothed and ignored her.&nbsp;“I might as well have been wallpaper,” she told
 us later. “Or a chair.”When she reached high school age, the aunts sent her to Mount St. 
Scholastica, the Catholic girls boarding school in Atchison, where 
Rosemary knew no one. She studied mostly alone, never went out, kept a 
little unplanted seed of love close to her heart, pollinated by hope but
 not yet planted. And because it was a girls school, no boys noticed 
that shy little Rosemary Fiegener was drop-dead gorgeous -- dark hair, 
thoughtful dark eyes. And that she radiated kindness.Her seed, her plan for sowing love, was simple in design, as she told
 us: “It was that if I was ever lucky enough to find love and kids, that
 they would get all that I never got: Hugs, attention, love, attention, 
toys, attention.”&nbsp; &nbsp;And by and by, a handsome farmer came along, to help his sister move 
into the dorm on the first day of school. He did a double-take in the

would do no such thing because they planned to have Rosemary keep house 
for their family, as they had done, loveless and childless.And for the first time ever, Rosie declared out loud that she would do as she darn well pleased. They were upset; she was liberated.Gene’s parents showered her with love and attention, which startled
