Steven W. Zadina, age 59, of Manhattan, Kansas, died Saturday October 22, 2022.

He was born on January 9, 1963 in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Darus “Bud” and Marjory Zadina. He grew up in Beloit and graduated with the Beloit High School Class of 1981. He attended Kansas State University and worked with the Collegian Newspaper and on the KSU Yearbook.

Steven worked for over 30 years for Nelson’s Poultry Farm in Manhattan. He enjoyed going to work, doing landscaping, gardening and growing fresh vegetables. When there were family events or gatherings Steven loved to grill or cooking and made sure there was plenty for all.

He was the family “mr.fix it”, the handyman for all things that needed fixed. Steven was the one that was the reacher of tall things guy for his family. He had a great sense of humor, loved poking fun and teasing his great nephew and great niece.

Steven was fun, humorous, always there and hard working efforts, will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father Bud Zadina.

Survivors include his mother, Marjory Zadina, of Beloit, Kansas; his sisters, Cindy Schoen, of Neosho, Missouri and Vicki Humiston, of Hutchinson, Kansas; and also his niece Kenda Brewster, of Atlanta, Georgia; great-nephew Zaden Brewster and great-niece Zalie Brewster, both of Garden Plain, Kansas.

A Celebration Gathering for Steven will be held on Saturday October 29, 2022 from 9:00a.m. until 11:00a.m. at the Green Valley Community Center, 3770 Green Valley Road in Manhattan.

A Memorial Service will also be held at a later date in Beloit, Kansas.

Paul Wayne “P.W.” Henningsen, 85, of Belvue, Kansas, died Monday, October 24, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society of Wamego.&nbsp;&nbsp; He was a life-long member of the community.

P.W. was born October 31, 1936, in Wamego, Kansas, the son of Paul O. and Mabel (Lederer) Henningsen.&nbsp; He attended local schools and graduated from Wamego High School.

P.W. was a farmer and stockman for his entire adult life, operating the family farm near Belvue.&nbsp; He was a member of the Belvue Township Drainage Board and an active participant of the local FFA and 4-H programs.&nbsp; P.W. enjoyed fishing, playing Pitch with his friends, and swapping stories at the gas station drinking coffee.&nbsp; P.W. loved going to cattle sales and was a regular at all the local sale barns.

P.W. married Rose Marie Williams on August 21, 1958, in Wamego.&nbsp; She preceded him in death on March 23, 2015.

P.W. is survived by his daughters; Jo Logan (Jay), Bellvue, Colorado, and Janet Brown (Eric), Belvue; his grandchildren, Scott Logan (Emily), Wichita, Aaron Logan (Kelsey Welliver), Manhattan, Jacob Brown (Tina), Belvue, and Colton Brown, Topeka; and his great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Stella Logan.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Julie Marie Henningsen.

Myron “Bud” Wohler, age 92, died at Advena Living Center in Clay Center, KS on October 23, 2022. He was born in Leonardville, KS on March 21, 1930, to Myron Sr. and Wobina (Leipersberger) Wohler. Bud moved with his parents to a farm east of Clay Center where he attended Upper Lincoln School. They later moved to the southwest side of Clay Center, where he attended Redtop also known as Blaine School through 8th&nbsp;grade.&nbsp; He graduated from Clay Center Community High School in 1948. He married Lucille Largent on June 12, 1949. They made their home outside Clay Center.

Bud worked for Cities Service Oil Co., Riddle Quarries and substituted for the rural mail routes and city routes at Christmas time, along&nbsp; with farming.&nbsp; He started Grade A Dairy in 1967 and later added Angus cattle.&nbsp; Bud enjoyed going to the pasture to check cows and cut the pesky little cedar trees. He also enjoyed visits from his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Upon his retirement he took up woodworking. Bud was a member of the Presbyterian Church, a former member of Dairy Farmers of America, and previously had a seat on the Coop and Rural Water Board. Bruce Edward Bigler, 74, of Clay Center, died Sunday, October 23, 2022 at the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor.&nbsp; He was born on August 26, 1948 in Clay Center, the son of Jacob and Mae (Talbot) Bigler.

He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after over 30 years. Before that, he served 3 years in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. Bruce participated in the Veterans Honor Flight in 2018.

Bruce was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and trapping. He even got his picture in the paper in the 80s for a record catfish from the Republican River.

Bruce was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Bigler, his parents, Mae and Jacob Bigler Sr, and sisters LaNora Eschelman and Connie Hullum.

Bruce is survived by his brothers, Jacob Bigler Jr and wife Sharon of Wichita, Ks and James Bigler and wife Yolanda of Van Nuys, CA, and his 8 nieces and nephews, Deborah Bigler, Chris Jones, Pam Riley, David Bigler, Patti Soliman, Ric Rosenkranz, Paula Riley-Ring, and Justin Bigler.

Frances Darlene Moritz, resident of Chapman, Kansas, passed away on October 24, 2022 at the age of 90.

She was born August 13, 1932 at Burlington, Kansas, the daughter of Bert and Maude (Garrett) Decker. She graduated from Burlington High School with the class of 1950. While a student, Darlene worked at Shaull’s Drug Store and Burlington Country Club. After graduation she worked for Coffee County Rural Electric Cooperative until moving to Kansas City, MO in 1951. While there she trained for the Northern Division with South Western Bell Telephone Company to move to Topeka. She was a secretary to the Division Maintenance supervisor until she married and transferred to the Wichita Office and worked until 1956. On September 3, 1955, she married James Moritz in Burlington, Kansas. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary three months before he passed away. She worked for her husband at Alpine Moving and Storage Company in Wichita, Ks until they started their family. In 1970 the family moved to Milford, Kansas and she helped her husband on the farm and also worked for Dean Berneking Catering for 10 years. Darlene was active in her community and church. She belonged to Beta Sigma Phi and held several offices while in Topeka. She was a member of Pleasant View EHU, Circle, St. Xavier Catholic Church, Junction City, Kansas and St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Chapman, Ks. She is survived by her daughters: Marilyn (Monty) Ferris, Wamego, Ks, Loretta (Joe) Fisher and Sandra (Curtis) Barbee both of Chapman, Ks; and son, Harvey (Stacy) Moritz also of Chapman, Ks; son-in-law, David Manning of Chapman, Ks; grandchildren: Crystal, Jessie, Lance, Mistie, Melissa, Shane, Alecia, Jessica, Molly, Kera, Casey, Tanner, Macie, Chris, J. Michael J. Greene, 76 of Salina, formerly of Abilene passed away October 14, 1945. He was born October 19, 1945 is Salina, Kansas the son of Timothy and Teresa (Kirn) Greene. On November 8, 1969 he was united in marriage to Patricia “Patty” Shipman in Salina. Michael graduated from Solomon High School and went on the earn his Bachelor’s degree in Geology at Kansas State University.

 Michael is survived by his loving wife Patty of the home. One daughter, Kelly Greene and granddaughter, Katy Greene. He is also survived by his four brothers: Dennis, Timothy, Kevin Greene and John Nielson. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Colin Greene.

 The family has chosen cremation and there will be no services planned at this time per Michael’s wishes.&nbsp;

Michael J. Greene, 76 of Salina, formerly of Abilene passed away October 14, 1945. He was born October 19, 1945 is Salina, Kansas the son of Timothy and Teresa (Kirn) Greene. Michael graduated from Solomon High School and went on the earn his Bachelor’s degree in Geology at Kansas State University. Michael is survived by his loving wife Patty of the home. One daughter, Kelly Greene and granddaughter, Katy Greene. He is also survived by his four brothers: Dennis, Timothy, Kevin Greene and John Nielson. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Colin Greene. The family has chosen cremation and there will be no services planned at this time per Michael’s wishes.&nbsp;

Mary Elizabeth Ryan (Schneider), 100, of Solomon, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022 in Salina, KS. She was born September 12, 1922 on a farm west of Salina, to John J. and Lucy Grace (Seramur) Schneider. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School and received her teaching degree from Marymount College. She taught in Grainfield, Kansas, and then Salina Sacred Heart prior to getting married and starting her family. She married Francis Ryan on December 29, 1954 in Salina, KS and they had 36 years together until his death in 1990. Mary was active in her church where she taught religion, served on the Solomon Altar Society, lectured and led the rosary. She served on the Solomon USD #393 Board of Education, as well as the Solomon State Bank Board. She played cards for the 51 Club, Sunflower Shufflers and Y&amp;O Club, as well served as a 4-H food leader for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother to seven, grandmother to twenty-one and great-grandma to seven. The month prior the family was able to celebrate her 100 th birthday which she truly enjoyed.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, five siblings, Frances Schneider, John Schneider,&nbsp;Sister Monica Schneider, Lucy McCann and Sister Lucy Schneider. Gordon Dean Ryff, 87, passed away peacefully at Stormont Vail Hospital Topeka, Kansas on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, surrounded by his family. Gordon was born on September 24, 1935 in Elmo, Kansas on the family farm. He was the fourth and youngest son of Henry and Erma Ryff. He attended a country school near Elmo during his elementary years and graduated from Hope High School in 1953. Gordon married Juanita Beem on December 29, 1956, at the Navarre Church of the Brethren. They were married just shy of 66 years. He is preceded in death by his parents and his three older brothers: Kenneth, Marvin, and George. He is survived by his wife, Juanita, of the home; three children, Tony (Kathy) of Wichita, Barb of Abilene, and Mike of Hope (Sheila Mae, fiancé of Carcar City, Philippines); five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces. Gordon and his family lived and farmed in the Elmo area. He attended Ebenezer Baptist Church from his youth and was baptized there. As a boy, he was enrolled in Bible Memory Association and memorized hundreds of verses. The training that his mother invested in him served as a foundation for the rest of his life. In addition to farming, he enjoyed serving and helping others. He worked at the Navarre Farm Service Co-op for many years. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends, and he enjoyed woodworking. Gordon was also active in the Navarre Lions Club. There will be no visitation. Deborah M. Farmer, age 65, died Friday October 21, 2022 at her home in Manhattan, KS.

She was born on December 12, 1956 in Tacoma, Washington, the daughter of Jack and Barbara (Meade) Pinhero. Debbie was raised in the Pratt, Kansas area where she attended and graduated from Skyline High School in 1974. She participated in cheerleading, basketball, and track and field during her high school years. She was proud of her state championship basketball teams in 1973 and 1974 and being crowned homecoming queen in 1973.

On July 12, 1980, she was united in marriage to Neal Farmer in Russell, KS. They lived in Russell for many years before moving to Manhattan, KS in 2001.

She attended North Central Kansas Area Vocational-Technical School and earned a diploma as a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1980. Debbie attended Manhattan Christian College and earned a B.S. in Business Management and Ethics in 2004. While living in Russell, KS, she worked as Nurse, and she and Neal owned and operated Russell Flower and Gift. She was a talented floral designer and interior decorator. After moving to Manhattan, KS, Debbie worked as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for AstraZeneca where she was awarded Executive PSS in 2021.

Debbie loved her three boys and family. She was proud of being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was always taking care of the family, making their favorites of bierocks and lasagna. There was also an endless supply of homemade chocolate chip cookies for the boys and grandkids. Debbie loved animals. Growing up she had her horse Skipper which she loved to ride. She and Neal always had a golden retriever in their home.

Debbie never missed one of her boys sporting events. She was Jason, Brent, and Ryan’s biggest fan and cheerleader. She was always providing words of encouragement and support. Debbie was known for coordinating booster activities and making sure every season was memorable. Even after her boys left the house and went to college, it became a family event to attend the KSU football and basketball games where many wonderful memories were made. She always made sure to make many of the events her grandchildren participated in, no matter the distance she had to travel to get there.

Hiking and being in the mountains were peaceful times for Debbie. She and Neal loved to visit Estes Park, CO to see the wildlife and take in nature. Debbie would always bring back her favorite salt water taffy for the whole family. She also loved snow skiing. The family would take yearly trips to Steamboat Springs or Keystone in Colorado to hit the slopes. Many weekends every summer were spent at Lake Wilson where she loved boating and watching her sons water ski and tube on the lake. Once the kids were out of the house, Neal and Debbie enjoyed trips to the Grand Cayman where they loved to snorkel and relax on the beach.

Debbie was also an avid reader. She was a part of a book club in Manhattan, KS and enjoyed discussing the books she read and sharing her favorites with family members. She loved reading to her boys when they were younger and then to her grandchildren. The quality time that she got with her grandchildren in her lap while reading a book to them was cherished.

She was preceded in death by her mother Barbara Rauckman and father Jack Pinhero.

In addition to her husband Neal Farmer, she is survived by her children: Jason Taylor (Jennifer) of Warrensburg, Missouri, Brent Farmer (Jessica) of Franklin, Tennessee, and Ryan Farmer of Columbia, Missouri; also, her grandchildren: Madison, Kaitlyn, Alexandria, Elizabeth, Brock and Jacob; and her great-grandchild Alaina.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan.

Deborah M. Farmer

Mary Machin Hemphill was born November 1, 1942 in Wamego, KS to Ruth Elizabeth Burgess and John W. Machin II. She grew up in Manhattan, attending Bluemont Elementary school and graduating from Manhattan High School in 1960. She was baptized and joined First Baptist Church of Manhattan the same year. She married Steve E. Hemphill in 1962 and together they had two daughters. They later divorced.

Mary began her professional career at R.L. Polk and Company, and later worked as an administrative assistant at Kansas State University. After the birth of her children she became a full time homemaker and also typed papers for international students at KSU. She was a gifted seamstress and artist and her creativity added much beauty to her home. Mary also sold her arts and crafts creations at Kansas craft fairs.

She began teaching Sunday School at First Baptist Church in the 1970’s and continued in this role for many years, in addition to serving on church boards and committees and providing children’s sermons during Sunday morning worship. She was the adult leader of Brownie Troop #331 and Junior Girl Scout Troop #234, planning and leading weekly meetings and chaperoning several camping trips. Mary also served as a Region Cookie Captain, distributing all the cookies sold in the area to troop leaders.

Mary started her professional teaching career in the Office Education Program at Manhattan Vo-Tech. She returned to college and while working full-time as the bookkeeper for UFM, completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education in 1987. She then taught for a year in Wichita Public Schools before returning home to teach Elementary Art for USD 383. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Education from Kansas State. Mary was named Kansas Master Teacher in 1999. She also had the opportunity to travel to Prague, Czechoslovakia one summer for art instructor professional development.

She retired from full-time teaching in 2008, and continued to substitute teach as well as volunteer activities in the Manhattan community. Mary continued her faithful involvement at FBC Manhattan, serving as an officer in the American Baptist Women group. She was a part of two mission work trips to Appalachia and Mexico in her retirement. Mary was a volunteer docent at the Beach Museum of Art in Manhattan, a member of Alpha Kappa Delta sorority, and taught classes at the Manhattan Arts Center. She enjoyed playing bunco, spending time with her friends and family, and attending musical performances at McCain Auditorium.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John W. Machin III.

She is survived by two daughters, Amy Hemphill of Indianapolis, Indiana and Marcie Hemphill of Atlanta, Georgia; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Bailey of Columbus, Indiana; a sister, Margi Barber (Bob) of Hurricane, Utah; a sister-in-law, Janice Machin of Riley, KS; longtime companion Bob Ford of Baldwin, KS; her “partners-in-crime” the Unicorn Girls; three nephews, one niece, six great-nephews, two great nieces, one great grandniece, and her Machin and Burgess cousins.

A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 29th, at the First Baptist Church, 2121 Blue Hills Rd., Manhattan, KS, with Pastor Chris Geyer officiating. Private family inurnment will be in the Wabaunsee Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p .m. Friday, October 28th at the First Baptist Church.

Mary Machin Hemphill was born November 1, 1942 in Wamego, KS to Ruth Elizabeth Burgess and John W. Machin II. She grew up in Manhattan, attending Bluemont Elementary school and graduating from Manhattan High School in 1960. She was baptized and joined First Baptist Church of Manhattan the same year. She married Steve E. Hemphill in 1962 and together they had two daughters. They later divorced.Mary began her professional career at R.L. Polk and Company, and later worked as an administrative assistant at Kansas State University. After the birth of her children she became a full time homemaker and also typed papers for international students at KSU. She was a gifted seamstress and artist and her creativity added much beauty to her home. Mary also sold her arts and crafts creations at Kansas craft fairs.She began teaching Sunday School at First Baptist Church in the 1970’s and continued in this role for many years, in addition to serving on church boards and committees and providing children’s sermons during Sunday morning worship. She was the adult leader of Brownie Troop #331 and Junior Girl Scout Troop #234, planning and leading weekly meetings and chaperoning several camping trips. Mary also served as a Region Cookie Captain, distributing all the cookies sold in the area to troop leaders.Mary started her professional teaching career in the Office Education Program at Manhattan Vo-Tech. She returned to college and while working full-time as the bookkeeper for UFM, completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Art Education in 1987. She then taught for a year in Wichita Public Schools before returning home to teach Elementary Art for USD 383. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Education from Kansas State. Mary was named Kansas Master Teacher in 1999. She also had the opportunity to travel to Prague, Czechoslovakia one summer for art instructor professional development.She retired from full-time teaching in 2008, and continued to substitute teach as well as volunteer activities in the Manhattan community. Mary continued her faithful involvement at FBC Manhattan, serving as an officer in the American Baptist Women group. Carmen Licette Kemnitz, age 59, of St. George, died October 18, 2022, at her residence.

She was born November 14, 1962, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Arcadio and Maria Zoraida (Andujar) Rivera.

Carmen joined the United States Army at the age of 17, and served for several years.

She was married to Bruce Quinn. They had on son Scott Edward Quinn. The later divorced. She met Michael Jon Kemnitz while she was working at Hidden Valley Ski Resort in Pennsylvania where she was the Group Sales Manager in the winter and worked in the golf shop in the summers. Carmen and Michael were married June 5, 2000, in Colorado Springs, CO.

Carmen worked for Boston Culinary Group as a manager and had worked at Broadmoor World Arena, Big Mountain Ski Resort, Kansas State University, the University of Mississippi, Dolphin Stadium, and Bristol Motor Speedway.

She loved all cats and adopted as many as possible and enjoyed all sports.

Survivors include her husband Michael of the home; one son Scott Edward Quinn and his wife Angela, and children Austin Rudy and Aubrey Quinn of Topeka; and several brothers and sisters.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation is planned with private family services.

Ronnie Hanschu, 72 of Ramona passed away October 15, 2022 at Salem Nursing Home in Hillsboro. He was born February 17, 1950 in Herington, Kansas, the son of Wilbur and Burma (Schlesener) Hanschu. He went to school at Ramona Grade School and graduated from Centre High School. He was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ramona. Ronnie is survived by his loving wife Lisa of the home. His mother, Burma Hanschu. Four daughters: Sommer Durante; Stephanie Keller and husband Chad; Dr. Melissa House and husband Jon; and Anna Weber and friend, Austin Johnson. One step-son, Gordon Hunicutt and wife Sarah and one brother, Rick Hanschu and wife Barb. His family, His grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews/great nieces and nephews and so many who loved and admired him. He was preceded in death by his dad, Wilbur, a brother, Rory Hanschu and a son, James Weber. The family has chosen cremation. A Celebration of Life Service for Ronnie will be at his homestead, (3510 Sunflower, Ramona, Kansas 67475) at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 22. Casual attire and services as Ronnie would want it. He was a source of strength for Lisa. Life was not always easy, but the love they shared always endured beyond any obstacles they faced. It was the sound of his diesel truck coming up the driveway that always made her know that everything would be ok. His love and companionship will be deeply missed by her. Susan “Susie” Kummer passed away on Oct. 17, 2022 after battling cancer since Nov. 2020.

 Susie was born on May 1, 1953 in Woodbine, Kansas. She was the daughter of Lowell and Helen Hettenbach. She was the second of five children. She had two brothers: Paul and Bruce. She had two sisters: Mary and Karen. Her family moved to Abilene when she was a young child. As a child, she was involved in Girl Scouts and the Sand Springs 4-H club. In high school, she baby-sat for neighborhood children and worked at Tasty-Freeze in Abilene. She graduated from Abilene High School in May of 1971. On July 18, 1971, she married John Kummer of Chapman, Kansas at the First United Methodist Church in Abilene, Kansas. She and John had three children Jennifer Bisel (Dave) of Topeka, KS, Johnny Kummer of Shawnee, Kansas, and Jimmy Kummer (Kim) of Ottawa, Kansas.

 She worked in the Chapman High School cafeteria for many years as well as helped on the farm and building a new home after the family had a house fire in 1990. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and children. Her hobbies were gardening, flowers and quilting. She enjoyed helping her children with their 4-H projects and school activities. 

She is survived by her husband of 51 years John, her three children and five grandchildren: Danica, Ella, Evan, Ethan and Jacob. She is also survived by her brother Bruce and her two sisters. Her brother Paul preceded her in death. The family will have a visitation on Friday, October 21, 2022 from 6-8 p.m. at Danner Funeral Home. Funeral services are set for Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Danner Funeral Home in Abilene, KS. James Warren (Jim, Jimmy) Price, 88, Junction City, KS, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022, at his Milford lake-front home. A visitation and Celebration of Life were held Monday and Tuesday at Milford Congregational Church with Pastor Dirk Westerman officiating and music performed by Jim’s son in-law, Jose Garcia. Burial followed the service at Milford Cemetery.&nbsp; Memorials may be made to Milford Congregational Church. James Warren (Jim, Jimmy) Price 88, was born to Irvin Garland and Pauline Alice Price on October 14, 1934, Keyser, West Virginia. He went to be with the Lord Jesus, his parents and siblings, on October 16, 2022 from his Milford lake-front home in Milford, Kansas. Jim was the son of a military family that traveled a lot in his younger years before settling in Ft. Riley, Kansas, in 1944. He was a graduate of Junction City High School in 1953. On May 17, 1957, Jim was drafted to serve in the Army overseas in France at the Ammo Depot #7831 for almost two years until May 11, 1959 and remained under reserve status until 1963. Jim moved with his mother and brother Garland Price to the Los Angeles Area (Encino), California upon his honorable discharge from the Army in 1959. Jim began his employment as a banker in 1961 at Union Bank in North Hollywood, California and then transitioned into a long-lasting career in banking in 1967 at City National Bank in numerous Los Angeles areas of California. He worked his way up the career ladder at City National Bank by starting as a teller, progressing into Management and even as an Operations Officer until he retired as a Vice President of City National Bank in 1994. Jim married Sharon Kay Price on May 19, 1962 in North Hollywood, California. Upon Sharon and Jim’s departed and eventually divorced in 1996. Jim moved back to his favorite hometown to join his sister Mary (Susie) Parks were he would spend the rest of his life. Jim lived with his sister Susie for a short while until he met Genevieve (Genny). After a brief courtship with Genny, Jim proposed and they were married in 2001 Milford, Kansas. Jim held many interests that included automobiles, traveling, camping, BBQing, watching cowboy movies, listening to music including, popular, county, oldies, crooner, and rock and roll. He loved building and maintaining things such as bicycles, model trains, wooden rocking horses, bird houses, mowing lawns and gardening of the beautiful flowers he tended. He loved watching hid grandchildren grow and particularly loved holiday times with the family all together. His favorite spot was in his chair at home viewing Milford Lake from his Livingroom and this is the place where he completed his earthly journey in peace and harmony. Jim was a Milford Church member and a member of the Lions Club. He served for a few years as the President of the Lions Club in Milford, Kansas. Karen “Sue” Eichman, age 80 of Georgetown, TX, passed away on October 12, 2022.&nbsp; She was born on May 6, 1942, in Westmoreland, KS to Clarence R. and Aldena M. (Noland) Scott.&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;

Sue grew up on a farm and attended Westmoreland High School graduating in 1960.&nbsp; She married Patrick C. Ebert in 1961 and worked with Pat and his brother, Jim, for many years at Ebert Construction Co. in Wamego, KS.&nbsp; They had two daughters, Kim, and Kelli.&nbsp;

Sue founded Kansas Farm and Home Real Estate in the 1980s and was a licensed real estate appraiser.&nbsp; She was active in the Wamego Chamber of Commerce and a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church.&nbsp; She married Wilfred “Ike” Eichman in 1989 and they enjoyed many years of traveling, fishing, and spending time with their friends, children, and grandchildren.&nbsp;

Sue and Ike later moved to Georgetown, TX (Sun City), where Sue made many close friends, was active in the book, gaming, and travel clubs, and served as her neighborhood block captain.&nbsp; She especially enjoyed her extensive travels all over the world.&nbsp; She was also a regular volunteer at The Caring Place Thrift Shop and a member of Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Florence, TX.&nbsp; Sue’s energy and spark for life will be greatly missed.&nbsp;

Sue is survived by two daughters:&nbsp; Kim Myer and husband Bob of Boerne, TX, and Kelli Klauber and husband Adam of Chicago, IL; four grandsons:&nbsp; Trey and Scott Myer, and Jack and Drew Klauber.&nbsp; She is also survived by one sister:&nbsp; Ila Mae Frank and husband DeWayne of Westmoreland, KS.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Wilfred “Ike” Eichman.&nbsp; &nbsp;

The celebration of Sue’s life will include a reception in Georgetown, TX on October 19, 2022. A visitation will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 9:30 a.m. with a celebration of life at 10:30 a.m. at Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Margaret M. Simonsmeier, 76, of Junction City, passed away on October 13, 2022 at Valley View Senior Life Center. Cremation will take place. Her ashes will be taken to be buried in Plymouth, WI. She was born on December 26, 1945, to Fay and Hilda (Orthmann) Pomeroy. On July 29, 1977, she married Eugene Simonsmeier where they lived in Howards Grove, WI, for forty-five years. Gene and she started a corporation, Lightening Express, utilizing his nickname “Lightening”. They enjoyed traveling, NASCAR and Green Bay Packer Games. She enjoyed gardening and ensuring that the berms around the yard where full of beautiful flowers and bird watching. Together they raised six daughters together to make a large family. Margaret is survived by her children Jeri Gumtow, and Samantha (William) Allen; three stepdaughters: Vicki Simonsmeier, Patricia Simonsmeier and Cindy (Michael) Cartright; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two sisters Karen (John) Kohler and Penny Broadway. She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene, her parents, her daughter Tina Campion, sister Marge Glander, and niece Kim Breckheimer. The entire family would like to offer special thanks to the staff of Valley View Senior Living, Heritage Hall, especially the nurses who took care of Margaret on a day to day basis. Our family will be forever grateful for the support and care that they provided us.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Kenneth R. Pyke, 93 of Abilene passed away Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Abilene. He was born September 11, 1929 in Abilene, Kansas, the son of Roy W. and Ruth K. (Gish) Pyke. Kenny grew up in Abilene, attended the Abilene school districts and graduated from Abilene High School. On October 28, 1951, he was united in marriage to Carole L. Allison in Wichita, Kansas. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1951, serving two years in the 11th Airborne stationed in Ft. Campbell. He was the manager at A&amp;P Grocery and later worked as an assistant team leader at Duckwalls. He was a member of the Abilene First Christian Church in Abilene, and was a member of the Eisenhower Foundation and the Dickinson County Historical Society.

 Kenny is survived by two daughters-in-law: Dianne (Wood) Pyke of Springfield, Missouri and Kathleen (Newlin) Pyke of Hays, Kansas. Grandchildren: Amanda (Pyke) Brantley (Stuart); Christopher Pyke; and Scott Pyke. Great-Grandchildren: Cobie, Coltin, and Ryker Pyke. One sister-in-law, Barbara Pyke and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Carole, two sons, Thomas Pyke and Dale Pyke and a brother, Ralph Pyke.

 Funeral services for Kenny will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at the Abilene First Christian Church with Pastor Jason Kohler officiating. Kenneth R. Pyke

Wilberta Hulett, 85, of Saint George, KS, formerly from Humansville, MO, passed away October 11, 2022 at Ascension Via Christi in Manhattan, KS after a short illness.

On December 20, 1936 Claude and Martha (Ballard) Paul welcome into this world Wilberta Jane. Along with her big Sister Maggie Belle, they were the apples of their parents’ eyes. Even though there was a 10-year difference between the two sisters, they were extremely close and each other’s best friend until Maggie’s death.

In 1952 a tall lanky guy caught Wilberta’s eyes and she caught his eyes as well. The courtship began and the couple soon were almost inseparable. On July 31, 1954 Wilberta and Roy Hulett were married and the love affair continued for more than 61 years, until Roy’s passing in 2016. Although, Wilberta enjoyed her remaining years, her heart longed to be reunited with Roy Dee.

Wilberta happily followed Roy wherever she could while he served in the United States Army. While they explored the world the filled their home with four children, Ronda, Flora, Roy, Jr. and Jimmy. Raising her family was her priority during those years. Sharing her talents by making uniforms, flags, banners and other sport related items.

Wilberta wasn’t a soccer Mom, she was a Baseball, Softball, Basketball, Football, Scout, 4-H, Rodeo, Horse Shows, Saddle Club and Farm Mom. She also spent time volunteering at the children’s schools. Wilberta’s family was her pride and joy.

While Roy Dee served in Korea and Vietnam, Wilberta kept the home fires burning teaching their children about Faith. Teaching them to pray for their Daddy every night. Showing them the same sun and moon they saw was the same lights to guide their Daddy.

After Roy’s retirement from the Army, they returned home to Humansville, Missouri where they would live together until Roy Dee’s death.

While in Humansville, Wilberta worked as a Certified Med Tech at Big Springs Nursing Home for over 30 years.

Wilberta is survived by her children Ronda Lean, Collins MO, Flora Beckman, Clinton MO, Roy Jr. (Irma), Saint George KS, Jimmy (Angela) Omaha NE; brother-in-law Rex (Wanita) Hulett, Milford KS, sister-in-laws Catherine (Bill) Garrison, Springfield MO, Judy (Paul) Bissing, Seguin TX; her 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Wilberta was preceded in death by her parents, Husband, son-in-law Larry Lean, sister Maggie (Floyd) Kelly, sisters-in-law Peggy, Waneta, Tudy and Gayle, brothers-in-law Elsworth, Vic and Paul.
