Richard “Doc” Levi Kimmal, 84, of Wamego, KS, passed away peacefully Sunday, September 11, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family under the loving care of St. Croix Hospice.

Born July, 31, 1938 in Republic County, KS, Richard was the second born son of Howard and Gladys (Whitebread) Kimmal. He attended country school in Republic County until high schooland graduated from Concordia High School in 1957.

Richard married his high school sweetheart, Ella Mae Istas, on November 16, 1957, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Concordia, KS. She survives of the home. They enjoyed nearly 65 years of marriage and share their love with three children, Cindy Bisnette (Tim) of Wamego, KS, Jerry Kimmal of Concordia, KS, and Kathy Wagoner (Paul) of Wamego, KS. Richard enjoyed being a grandfather to Jamie Swanson (Erik), Sam Bisnette (Magda), Adam Bisnette (Shanna), Jenna Barlow (Scott), and Megan Kugler (Jake) as well as to his twelve great- grandchildren, Keegan, Ameliah, and Emery Swanson, Isaac, Elijah, and Caleb Bisnette, Brenn, Blake and Trey Barlow, and Jax, Kate and Ava Kugler.

Richard spent his career working in the electrical utilities business and retired from Jeffrey Energy Center near St. Mary’s, KS, in 2004. He loved being outdoors, tinkering on vintage cars and trucks, working in his garage, helping others with farm work and equipment, working on remodeling projects and growing his prize garden. Many four legged friends were fortunate to be nurtured by his companionship and care throughout the years. Richard was a very skilled driver and heavy machinery operator and often told the story of how his teacher at the country school would let him drive her personal car into town to pick up classroom supplies before he had a driver’s license. His loved ones rarely left his presence without hearing “Be careful on the road and look out for the other guy!” He and Ella Mae were a blessing to their extended family and many nieces and nephews. They valued spending time together with family and friends traveling, playing cards and hosting holiday and celebratory dinners at their home. Richard showed his love to people by teasing and joking around with them and will be remembered for his sense of humor.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Robert Kimmal, sister-in-law Mildred Kimmal and several brother and sister-in-laws.

Richard was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Service and memorial information will be released at a later date.

Erwin Ray Sender, 73, of Louisville, Kansas, died Friday, September 9, 2022, as a result of a motorcycle accident.&nbsp; He was a life-long resident of the area.

Ray was born on January 27, 1949, in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Harry and Althea (Zea) Sender.&nbsp; He attended local grade school and St. George High School.&nbsp; He studied to become a Machinist at the Topeka Vo-Tech.

Ray worked most of his adult life as a Millwright for Union, Local 918. He traveled doing jobs all over the country. His hobby, and passion, was motorcycles.&nbsp; He worked tirelessly as a motorcycle mechanic. Ray and his brother, Danny, owned American Air Cooled Motors, motorcycle repair shop for 38 years.

Ray also raced competitively with his race bike, but his favorite was his 1940 Harley Davidson Knucklehead.&nbsp; He also had purchased a 1953 Studebaker Commander car he hoped to refurbish.&nbsp; Ray was an active and loyal member of the Boozefighters Motorcycle Club.&nbsp; In his earlier years, Ray played a lot of baseball and softball.

Ray married Rose Ann Mausling on March 19, 1975, in Miami, Oklahoma.&nbsp; She survives at their home.

Ray is also survived by his daughter, Leslie Sender, St. George; his grandsons, Cameron Sender, Tyler Newman, and Donavon Wilson; his siblings, Mary Rutherford, Louisville, Ellan Spivey, Rossville, Danny Sender (Maria), Wamego, Robert Sender (Liz), Riley, Penny Bahret (Ernie), Lecompton, Johnny Sender (Donna), Wamego, and Peggy McClain (Daniel), Onaga; his dog, Joe;&nbsp; as well as many friends.&nbsp; He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Campanella and Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Burial will follow in Louisville Cemetery.&nbsp; Ray will lie-in-state on Friday, beginning at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 p.m.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Randall Robert “Randy” Chaffee, 71, Junction City, died Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

He was born December 11, 1950, in Clay

was a graduate of Riley County High School and Manhattan Technical 
School.&nbsp; He was the owner and operator of Randy’s Marine Service Inc. 
in Junction City.&nbsp; His hobbies included dirt track racing, boating, 
water skiing, racing, hot rods, and Nascar.&nbsp; Most of all, he loved his 
sons, family, and dogs.

Survivors include two sons:&nbsp; Neal

&nbsp;Anna Danielle Armendariz, 24, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2022, while hiking in the Ozark National Park, Newton County, Arkansas. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life was held on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Lonoke, Arkansas. A Memorial Service will be held in Flint, Texas, on Saturday, March 25, 2023. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a local animal shelter of the donor’s choice. Anna was born on June 18, 1998, in Odesa, Ukraine. While at the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi Orphanage, Daniel and Leigh Ann Armendariz had the honor of adopting Anna at the age of 3.5 years. She grew up in North Texas and graduated from L.D. Bell High School, Hurst, Texas, in 2016. She never met a stranger and was always on the side of the underdog. Anna loved life despite its challenges, oftentimes overcoming them with her contagious smile. She was passionate about animals, especially dogs and cats. After serving in the United States Army, Anna moved to Hickory Plains, Arkansas. It was there, she was able to enjoy farm life with animals and the wonderful outdoors she so dearly loved. Anna is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Carolyn Cunningham. He worked most of his life with elderly working as an activities director in many care facilities throughout Kansas. He was a member of the Elk's Lodge #1037 in Junction City. Michael enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, woodworking and listening to bluegrass music. He spent most months of September attending the Walnut Valley Bluegrass Festival near Winfield, KS. On November 27, 1963, she married William C. Welshans, Jr. They were married for 48 years. Joyce is survived by her Daughter, Valerie (John) Starwalt of Green, KS; Son, Noah (Jen Fillion) Welshans of Littleton, CO; one granddaughter, Juliet Fillion of Littleton, CO; one step grandson, Kai (Madison) Starwalt of Green, KS; and two great-grandchildren, Tanner and Tate. James C. Dean, 90, of Junction City passed away September 6, 2022 at Valley View Nursing Home after a period of declining health. Born in Anderson County, Kentucky, he was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Ruby Dean and his wife of 38 years, Hazel Dean. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Vernon Dean, Harold Dean, Richard Dean; sisters, Helen Dean and Grace Perry; sons, James Stephen Dean, Michael Dean and Randall Dean. He is survived by sisters Doris Carmickle and Nancy Wooldridge of Kentucky; daughter Sandra Dean of Virginia, sister-in-law Jimmie Faye Lundie, also of Virginia; step-son Mark Thomas of Colorado; granddaughters Lisa Faye Dean Ortiz and Flor Karina Ortiz Rodriguez of Chihuahua, Chihuahua Mexico; 5 great-grandchildren also of Mexico; devoted friends Kelly and Jo Budden and Beverly Greenwood. James was retired from the U.S. Army as CW2 after 23 years in food service serving two tours in Vietnam. He was on the pistol team winning many awards including the 'Distinguished Pistol Shot' award. He also retired from Deans' Custom Upholstery after 35 years making many friends through his business and mentoring others teaching them the trade. He was a member of the Milford Lions Club being awarded the 'Melvin Jones Fellow' for his generosity and service to the community. He went to the Geary Senior Center where he enjoyed the exercise and yoga classes and Bible study regularly with his friends there. His big passion was hunting and fishing, making numerous elk hunts and loved telling the story of when he got two turkeys with one shot. He and Hazel were also avid gardeners and shared the products of their labor with friends and neighbors. He was an active member of the First Christian Church until his health began to fail. He loved the Lord and was ready to be home with Jesus. A visitation for Mr. Dean will take place 5-7 p.m. Monday, September 12, 2022, at Johnson Funeral Home. A funeral service for Mr. Dean will take place 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at First Christian Church with Pastor Ronnie Roberts and Marcia Duncan officiating. Seaman Second Class Pete Turk of the U.S. Navy was killed in action on Sunday, December 7, 1941, the day President Franklin Roosevelt described as "a date which will live in infamy,” the day that marked America’s entry into World War II. Seaman Turk was stationed on the USS California in Pearl Harbor, Territory of Hawaii, and his passing was a result of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that resulted in more than 2400 American lives lost that day. Turk was 20-years-old. The California itself lost around 100 more crewmen and slowly settled at the bottom of Pearl Harbor where it came to rest on 10 December until its resurrection and modernization to join the fleet again in 1944. Pete Turk was born on March 8, 1921, in Roseland, Kansas to John and Josephine Turk. Until joining the service, he lived in Roseland his whole life. His niece Carmen Eakes remembers his visits to her family home when she was a little girl. At age 19, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy on September 24, 1940, in Kansas City, Missouri. Leaving his home town and after completing boot camp, he found himself reporting for duty aboard the USS California, flagship of the Battle Force, on November 25, 1940. Bonnie Rae Edwards, age 88 of Olsburg, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the Leonardville Nursing Home.&nbsp;

She was born on November 10, 1933 at her family’s home outside of St. George, the daughter of James Rayburn and Sylva Ferl (Edwards) Hofman.

On December 27, 1954 in Manhattan, she married Robert David Edwards.&nbsp; They moved to the ranch in 1955, living there until 2021, before moving to the Leonardville Nursing Home.&nbsp; In 1986, they were honored with the Master Farmer and Master Homemaker awards and were active in the program for 30 years.

Bonnie graduated summa cum laude from Kansas State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics and Education and a Master’s Degree in Clothing and Textiles.&nbsp; She taught home economics and chemistry for twelve years at Blue Valley High School.

She was an active member of the Randolph United Methodist Church, Olsburg E.H.U. and was very involved with 4-H.&nbsp; She was a master gardener, loved sewing, painting and quilting.&nbsp; She and her husband Bob traveled all over America and internationally.&nbsp; Above all else, she always had time for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Bob Edwards; one son, Bill Edwards of Olsburg; two daughters, Jenni Moore and husband Jim of Westmoreland and Kathy Moore and husband Daryl of Great Bend; one sister, Kay Paulson of Denver, Colorado; six grandchildren, Ben Moore, Brian Moore, Erin Plummer, Katie Klenda, Preston Moore and Ashley Vonada and thirteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at the Randolph United Methodist Church with Pastors Bruce and Sandy Ferguson officiating.&nbsp; The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home.&nbsp; Burial will be in the Olsburg Cemetery.

Dorothy Arminta (Dieffenbaugh) Facklam , 95, went to be with the Lord on September 7, 2022. She was surrounded by family and passed peacefully at Abilene Memorial Hospital, Abilene, Kansas. Dorothy was born January 13, 1927, on the family farm near Manchester, Kansas to Clarence and Arminta (Ausherman) Dieffenbaugh. Dorothy attended Keystone School, a one-room schoolhouse near her childhood home, then concluded her education at Abilene High School, graduating with the class of 1945. On June 3, 1945, she married Floyd Dean Facklam. They were married for 72 years before his passing on March 30, 2018. Dorothy then moved to Frontier Estates where she made friends and was well loved until health reasons forced her into nursing care. Dorothy was a loving homemaker and hard worker, helping to provide for her family by working various jobs: Nockey’s In and Out, Bankes Drug Store, Abilene Memorial Hospital as a housekeeper, then Frontier Estates as a receptionist. She was a faithful servant of the church, attending First Baptist Church of Abilene her entire life. Dorothy is survived by her brother, Earl Dieffenbaugh of Las Vegas, Nevada, her son Duane (Karen) Facklam, daughters Darlene (Rod) Riffel and Diana (Jerry) Rankin, and her daugther-in-law , Kathleen (Clark Facklam) Williams. Timothy Morgan Nelson was born October 7, 1959 in Manhattan, Kansas, the third child of Robert and Lavon (Shea) Nelson. Timothy passed peacefully on September 9, 2022 surrounded by his family in his home in rural Chapman, Kansas.

Tim spent his youth roaming the Flint Hills south of Manhattan and enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father and grandfather. He received his education in Manhattan schools, graduating from Manhattan High in 1977. He pursued four years of Apprenticeship training through Plumbing and Pipefitters Local 411, licensing as a Journeyman plumber --following in the footsteps of his father, Robert. He loved doing commercial plumbing and helped build or refurbish many of the buildings on Kansas State University and Fort Riley. He received his Master Plumber license and was an ownership partner in starting the Mid-State Mechanical business in Manhattan. Timothy taught the plumbing trade at Flint Hills Job Corp for a number of years before returning to commercial plumbing to participate in the build of the Biosecurity Research Institute on Kansas State University. He served as the buildings Facility Utility Manager for several years before returning to commercial plumbing. On November 26, 1982 Timothy married the love of his life, Deborah A. Diehl in Manhattan, Kansas at First Lutheran Church. To this union two children were born. The Nelson family loved to travel and spent many Spring Breaks on the Colorado ski slopes, cruising the Caribbean or visiting many cities of the United States. Since 1991, Timothy has farmed south of Chapman with his wife and son. He was the happiest when harvesting his crops and in June when Deb was riding in the combine with him he told her “It is so beautiful from up here.” Knowing it would be his final harvest, he insisted on bringing in the last load of his 2022 wheat. He is survived by his wife Dr. Deborah Diehl Nelson of the home, a son Justin Nelson and wife Courtney of Chapman, a daughter Dr. Kaitlynn Christiansen and husband Marshall of Manhattan, three beloved granddaughters Mackenzie and Allison Christiansen and Hollis Nelson, a brother Michael Nelson and wife Lindsay of Manhattan, a sister Tamra Nelson of Woodward, Ok., sister-in-law Karman Diehl of Chapman, brother-in-law Donald Diehl and wife Linda of Abilene, and many loved nieces and nephews. Timothy was anxiously waiting to meet his first grandson, Morgan James Nelson.

LoRene Marie (Straub) Wille, age 91, died September 7, 2022, surrounded by family and loved ones, at the Good Samaritan Society -Valley Vista Care Home in Wamego,

She was born August 30, 1931, in Wamego, Kansas, the oldest of eleven children born to Otto J. and Arleen K, (Immenschuh) Straub.

LoRene was a member of the Seven Dolors Catholic Church, Seven Dolors Altar Society, VFW Post 1786 Ladies Auxiliary, United Commercial Travelers, the Riley County Homemakers Extension, along with serving as leader for the VFW Junior Girls Unit, and supporting Boy Scout Troop #72, and the Girl Scouts of the Manhattan area.

LoRene had an in-home Day Care Center for over 45 years. She truly considered the families she cared for to be her extended family and her door was always open.

Her love for God and her faith was unwavering. LoRene felt her greatest accomplishment was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was married to Emery L. Wille on December 26, 1950, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Flush, Kansas. They lived in Wamego for several years before moving to Manhattan. Survivors include three sons: Brad Wille and his wife Teresa of Manhattan, KS, Jeffery Wille and his wife Karen of Wamego, KS and Joseph Wille of Manhattan, KS; five daughters BeLinda Cutright of Wamego, KS, Jennifer Eickhoff and her husband Bob of Kansas City, KS, Cristina Mabe of Lubbock, TX, Mary Lynn Dooley and her husband Chris of Manhattan, KS, and Marlene Phillips and her husband Robert of Green City, MO; one brother, Otto Straub and his wife Jan of Clay Center, KS; 33 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

LoRene was preceded in death by her husband Emery on November 13, 2015, two sons: Michael Wille in 1951, and David Wille in 2006: two great granddaughters, Aiyanna Lindsay in 2009 and Serenity Nichole Reich in 2016, five brothers Arthur, Rapheal, Delafield, Albinus and Anthony Straub; and four sisters Philomena Straub, Barbara Straub, Louise Hoffett, and Dorothy Lyons.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, September 19th, at Seven Dolors Catholic Church with Father Ryan McCandless and Father Kerry Ninemire as Celebrants. Interment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:30 p .m. Sunday, September 18th at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home. A Parish Vigil will follow at 5:30 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel.

Linda Ann Irby, 59, of Ogden, KS, formerly of Detroit, MI, Manhattan, Junction City; Ogden, passed away Thursday, September 8th, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri. She was in U.S. Army as a Chef at Ft. Riley. Linda retired after 21 yrs, retiring in 2001. After retiring she became a landlord in Manhattan and the Junction City area.

On Monday, May 6, 1963, in Peoria, IL Linda was born to Willie Mae (Huston) Irby, of Detroit, MI and the late U.V. Irby. Linda received a Business Degree.

Mary Ann White, 90, passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Wellspring Care Home in Westmoreland.&nbsp; She was the loving wife of Ralph D White and mother to her four children;&nbsp;Randy, Kara, Gary, and Brian.

Mary Ann was born on May 4, 1932 (She would often mention she had an easy birthdate t0 remember: 5-4-3-2) to Merle Revere and Lillian May (Viar) Henre in Kansas City, KS. She received her degree in Education and Home Economics from Kansas State University in 1954.&nbsp; On December 4, 1955 Mary Ann married Ralph Duane White. Together they resided in; Moscow, KS, Angel Fire, NM, Wamego, KS and Westmoreland, KS.&nbsp;

Mary Ann had a passion for service to God, her family, and her community. After recovering from the culture shock of city to country, Mary Ann became the quintessential farmer’s wife embracing and loving life in a farming community.&nbsp; She taught first grade for a few years before starting family (four children in five years). Mary Ann served in various aspects of her church (choir, Methodist Women’s groups, bazaar, Sunday School); her community (4-H, County Fair, teaching piano, Senior Center); and the school district (substitute teacher, fund raising, attended her children’s many school events and activities.)

Mary Ann was an avid seamstress and delighted in craft making. Mary Ann’s flair for hospitality was apparent in her ability to prepare and serve a well-balanced home cooked meal, regardless of location. Mary Ann and Ralph enjoyed traveling.&nbsp; Trips included camping and visits with the family and friends, touring every state in the USA, and many destinations around the world.&nbsp;

Mary Ann and Ralph were members of Kansas Flying Farmers establishing life-long friendships as they flew to “fly-ins” and attended conventions. Mary Ann was known for her love of babies and dogs, willingness to help, her strong faith, kindness and compassion.&nbsp; A long life well lived.

Mary Ann survived by her husband Ralph, her four children and their spouses, Randy, Kara (Augustine), Gary (Shalah), and Brian (Tina), her grandchildren; Travis, Becky, Kerensa, Jesse, Josie May, Henry, Elliot, Robert, Blake, Emily, and Maggie and 12 Great grandchildren.&nbsp; Survivors also include her brother-in-law Ford White and sister-in-law Barbara Henry and many nieces and nephews.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Merle and Lillian, a sister Martha Jane Morgan and a brother James Merle Henre.&nbsp;

&nbsp;Tammie McDiffett, 61, of Emporia, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday (September 7, 2022) at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka.

&nbsp;Born April 21, 1961 in Council Grove, Kansas, Tammie was the daughter of Ralph W. and Cora (Hobbs) McDiffett.

Tammie was a member of the First Christian Church in Emporia.&nbsp; She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, enjoyed crocheting and knitting and loved being Aunt Tammie to her many nieces and nephews.

&nbsp;Living with a disability throughout her life, Tammie still had a heart for helping others and had worked as an aid for various nursing homes.

Survivors include two sisters, Ella Mae Kraus of Alma, KS and Joyce Massey (Gale) of Aurora, CO; two brothers, Donald L. McDiffett of Altus, OK and Roger McDiffett of Coalmont, TN; and her many nieces and nephews.

Tammie was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Dorris Whitman-Taylor.

Penny Sue (Clark) Morse, 57, of Wamego, passed away September 8, 2022 at home with family at her side. &nbsp; She fought a courageous battle against metastatic breast cancer.

Penny was born on August 7, 1965, in Lancaster, CA, the daughter of James and Judy (Davis) Clark. &nbsp;

On September 27, 1986, she was united in marriage to Robert H. Morse, Jr. of Wamego, KS.&nbsp; He survives of the home.

She is also survived by her children:&nbsp; daughter, Tara Morse, Wamego, KS; sons, Robert (Amy) Morse III, Wamego, KS and Curtis (Valerie) Morse, Emporia, KS; father, James Clark; brother Jim (Terry) Clark; sister, Jody (Mike) Hooper; 2 grandchildren, Kaden and Vita Morse; and 3 step-grandchildren, Taylor, Preston and Ethan.&nbsp; She was proceeded in death by her mother, Judy Clark.&nbsp;

When her children were young, she ran a daycare caring for many children.&nbsp; She also worked for Wamego, St. Marys and Council Grove Telecommunications Systems, Inc., Dyers, Aero-Mod, and Browns Chevrolet.

Her hobbies were cross-stitching, flower gardening, baking, and playing cards.

Born in Wichita, Kansas and former resident of Nashua, New Hampshire and Seattle, Washington, Barbara was the daughter of Ted and Clara Lee Wilcox. She married Lawrence “Larry” Perkins in 1992 in Wichita, Kansas. He preceded her in death.

An avid reader, enthusiastic football fan (especially K-State), competitive card player and lifelong Democrat, Barbara will be remembered as a gifted quilter, fantastic storyteller, an excellent cook with a passion for music. She had a strong faith and lived with humility and grace. Barbara’s greatest joy was spending time with her fun, quirky family. She was truly a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her children, Mary Higgs (Brad); David Lusk; and granddaughter, Kendall Lusk.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Larry; and two sisters, Jo Burgess and Cherlyn Smith.

Kathryn Marie “Kathy” (Lang) Grannell, 84, of Overland Park, Kansas died on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Advent Health South Overland Park Hospital after a short illness.

&nbsp;She was born February 18, 1938, in Great Bend Kansas to her parents Elmer Joseph and Kathryn Marie Dolechek Lang.&nbsp; She was raised by her grandparents Frank Joseph and Ida Adeline “Addie” Reif Lang. She was a 1956 graduate of Hoisington High School and attended Marymount College.&nbsp; Kathy worked for the State of Kansas, Topeka.&nbsp; While raising her family in Wamego, Kansas she held positions as the Welcome Wagon Greeter, bookkeeper for the Ford Motor Company, and finally for many years as the Branch Manager of Columbia Savings and Loan.

Kathy was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church, Wamego, for over 50 years, serving on the funeral committee, finance committee, and parish council.

Kathy was extremely active in the Wamego community in various organizations including the Red Cross Blood Drive, Girl Scouts, Wamego Chamber of Commerce, Wamego High School mentor program, and the local election board. In her retirement, she enjoyed her bridge group and activities with the Kaw Valley State Bank’s Heritage Club. She was an avid card and game player and spent hours completing picture and crossword puzzles.&nbsp; In the last couple of years, Kathy moved to Overland Park, Kansas, where she was surrounded by her children and their families.

Kathy married James Eugene “Gene” Grannell on July 29, 1961, at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington, Kansas.&nbsp; He preceded her in death on November 30, 2001. She is survived by her son Mark (Christy) Grannell, Gardner, Kansas; four daughters, Gina (Tom) Gawlick, Overland Park, Kansas; Lisa Bartlett, Gardner, Kansas; Lori Grannell (David Demarest), Coral Springs, Florida, Dana Minihan, Gardner; Kansas; two half-sisters: Evelyn Huggins, Topeka, Kansas, Karen Kuntz, Larned, Kansas; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren with more on the way.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday (September 13, 2022) at 10:30 a.m.at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wamego, Kansas with Father Mike Peterson officiating. &nbsp;Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.

She is survived by her son Mark (Christy) Grannell, Gardner, Kansas; four daughters, Gina (Tom) Gawlick, Overland Park, Kansas; Lisa Bartlett, Gardner, Kansas; Lori Grannell (David Demarest), Coral Springs, Florida, Dana Minihan, Gardner; Kansas; two half-sisters: Evelyn Huggins, Topeka, Kansas, Karen Kuntz, Larned, Kansas; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren with more on the way.Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday (September 13, 2022) at 10:30 a.m.at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Wamego, Kansas with Father Mike Peterson officiating. &nbsp;Burial will follow at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery.The family will greet friends on Monday evening (September 12, 2022) from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego. Amber J. Sell, 45, of Junction City, KS, passed away on Monday, September 1, 2022 at Geary Community Hospital. Cremation has taken place. No memorial service is planned. Amber was born July 20, 1977, in Phoenix, AZ the daughter of Carl and Judy (Golliher) Ball. She married Robert William Sell on November 23, 2002 in Las Vegas, NV. Survivors include her husband Robert of the home in Junction City, KS; one brother, Leman Bennett; two sisters, Melanie Shuck and Jennifer Ball; seven grandchildren, Chance, Marissa, Scott, Evan, Destiny, Amaya and Christian; many nephews, nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.

SGT James Franklin "J.B." Brown, 79, Junction City, KS, passed away Sunday, August 28, 2022, at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, KS. Cremation will take place. A graveside service with military honors will take place 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the Kansas Veterans' Cemetery. Mr. James Franklin Brown was born on May 27, 1943 in Croom, MD. James was the youngest son of Thomas P. Brown Sr. and Lucille (Spriggs) Brown’s nine children. He was educated in the Upper Marlboro School System prior to being drafted into the United States Army in 1968. Mr. Brown honorably served his country for more than a decade, with ten years of Active military service and two years of Reserve service. After completing Basic Training at Fort Bragg, NC, he served tours in Vietnam, South Korea and various other military bases culminating at Fort Riley, KS. Serving as a door gunner while assigned to the 119th Air Assault Battalion (CROCS), Sgt. Brown earned a myriad of commendations to include the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Commendation Medal, the Vietnamese Civil Action Medal, Overseas Service Bar (2), Good Conduct Medal (2), Drivers Badge, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/ Palm (Individual), Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/Palm (Unit), and Expert Qualification Badges for the M-14 and M-16 . Upon his honorable discharge from military service, Mr. Brown became a Federal Civil Service employee at Fort Riley, KS. He retired after thirty years of dedicated service to the men and women of the First Infantry Division and Fort Riley. Mr. Brown received many commendations and awards during his Federal Service. Mr. Brown met his loving and devoted wife, Dorothy J. (Palmore) McKinnis in 1984 in Junction City, KS. The couple were united in marriage on November 17, 1999. Mr. Brown was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He could be easily relied upon for his quick wit and humor. As his health declined, what he enjoyed most of all was spending quiet time at home with Dorothy listening to music, watching old westerns and horse racing.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; daughters Jynell Proctor (Kevin Mack), Brooklyn Park, MD; Angela McKinnis, Virginia Beach, VA; Carolyn Bardolome (Didus), Norfolk, VA; Tanya Hockensmith (Tony), Gettysburg, PA; Chandra Ward (Kansas City, KS); and his sister, Claudia Smith (Landover, MD). He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Brown was preceded in death by an infant son, his mother and father, brothers Thomas Brown, Jr., Leroy M. Brown, sisters Beatrice R. Spencer, Alice Madden, Henrietta Cunningham, Cora Stancil and Pauline Brown. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project in the name of James Franklin Brown. Marsha was born August 28, 1956, in Harrisburg, PA the daughter of Roy R. and Jean M. (Rohrer) Long. Marsha attended Junction City High School. After high school, she attended Brown Mackie College in Salina, KS. She worked in the customer service and retail industry most of her life. Survivors include one sister, Carolyn R. Matson of Abilene and host of cousins and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.&nbsp;&nbsp;
