Junction City police hosted their annual summer block party in Heritage Park Friday evening. There were activities ranging from Mumba, SWAT and Taser / Less Lethal demonstrations to free food, a dunk tank a car show and a movie in the park.
Police Chief John Lamb said the event gave the members of the Department to interact with the community. "It's not the call to call that the officers have to go to. It's a great opportunity to come out in a positive light for the officer to interact with the community and people who really want to come out and show their support for law enforcement."
Lamb noted that the JCPD hopes to more events of this sort, and he added that in the current pandemic JCPD is adapting. "Everybody is improving and getting better as we go so that's why we confident that we could put on this event and make sure everybody is having a good time but practicing safe measures."
Lamb participated in the dunk tank to help raise funds for the Shop With A Cop program in which needy children receive Christmas gifts and a breakfast meal during the holiday season.
