JUNCTION CITY, Kan. - Seitz Elementary fourth grade student Sergio Lopez placed second overall at the 2025 Pokémon Latin America International Championships in São Paulo, Brazil.
Lopez, who competed in the Junior Division of Pokémon TCG, was one of only two United States students out of 120 competitors to place in the top four of the division at one of the most prestigious Pokémon Trading Card Game competitions in the world. By earning runner-up accolades at the three-day competition, Lopez, who’s favorite Pokémon character is Rowlet, has now qualified to compete at the 2025 Pokémon World Championships on August 15-17 in Anaheim, Calif.
