Change will be a priority for Kristian James if he is elected to the Geary USD 475 Board of Education.
The 2009 Junction City High School graduate feels that there needs to be change. He asks how do we make things better? James favors more community involvement.
One focus area would include teachers, students, para-educators and additional staff. "How do we support our teachers? How do we give them the things that they're needing? " James wants to reduce teacher burnout and get them to want to remain in the school district instead of moving to other schools or districts. James also favors more parent involvement and reduction in student burnout.
"Community outreach is a big thing for me." He asks how to use technology to keep everyone informed, what would people want from him as a Board member,and he feels that communication is a key to bringing the community together.
Other candidates for school board include Mark Hatcher, Dr. Beth Hudson, Zeek Torres and Thomas Wesoloski. Three seats are up for election.
The election is Nov. 4.
