Alex Tyson, Democrat, has filed for reelection to a second term in the Second District seat on the Geary County Commission.
Tyson said, "Over the past four years, I have worked tirelessly to make sure that the voices of the residents of Geary County are heard and their needs are met. I have prioritized transparency, accountability, and integrity in all my decisions and actions. I have collaborated with other county officials and community leaders to address concerns, solve problems, and improve the quality of life for all residents of Geary County."
If elected Tyson wants to focus on the transient guest tax. He wants to try to leverage TGT funds to make improvements to the community. This would be especially true if there is a chance to work with USD 475 and Junction City on projects. Some of those could include parks and community wide improvements.
"I am proud of the progress that we have made together and understand all the hard work it took for us to get here, but I know that there is still much work to be done. "
Tyson said that he understands being a public servant is not an easy job. It requires sacrifice, patience, and resilience, plus the ability to make tough decisions and stand by them, even when they are unpopular. "But most importantly, it requires a deep love and respect for the community that you serve."
