UPDATE:
Work resumes Thursday to determine the cause of the brown water problem on the west side of Junction City. Much of the problem was corrected with the flushing of hydrants, but Public Works indicated there still could be some scattered locations where the problem still existed.

Junction City Public Works Director Ray Ibarra said Wednesday afternoon that the portion of the city where brown water has been experienced is on the high system side in the area served by the two water towers. The area includes west Junction City including the west central portion of town plus west of U.S. 77 , south of 6th Street and east of Jackson Street.
Flushing of hydrants has been under way and Ibarra is hopeful the problem can be resolved by Wednesday evening. Flushing of the hydrants will clear out the brown colored water. There was no loss of water pressure. The specific cause of the problem is unknown.
