JC Post recently visited with Junction City Manager Allen Dinkel and asked about the Taylor Road interchange proposal on the west side town near Interstate 70.
Dinkel noted that KDOT identified the interchange idea as one of the top prospects in the state for economic development. "Ideally the city needs to move to the west." Dinkel also acknowledged that there is some opposition. He noted it will ultimately will take local money to build roads and utilities out to Taylor Road, and the area would have to be annexed into the city. He added that there is a lot to be discussed.
There is no timetable on the project although thinks the project could possibly be due in 2027-2028. The timeline will have a lot to do with KDOT.
