Local Communities honor Fallen Soldiers and Service Members on Memorial Day

Along with Memorial Day ceremonies nationwide, Junction City, Fort Riley, and Manhattan hosted services as well.

Despite the rainfall, Fort Riley held their Memorial Day ceremony at the Post’s cemetery at 193 Huebner Rd. Fort Riley Garrison Commander Col. Jerry Nunziato delivered remarks. The First Infantry Division Band played the National Anthem, America the Beautiful, and Amazing Grace as part of the ceremony. There was also a 21-gun salute.

The Geary County Veterans Alliance held its Memorial Day ceremony at the C.L. Hoover Opera House in Junction City, and Manhattan’s ceremony was moved indoors to the American Legion Post 17 due to inclement weather.

Eagle Media in Junction City and Manhattan thank all of those who have served and all those who have fallen while serving our country.
