The Lady Jay tennis team competed in their home quadrangular on Monday. Teams in the event included Junction City, Manhattan, Shawnee Mission East and Shawnee Mission South.
As a team, the Lady Jay tennis team lost by only a single match in each round, dropping each round 3-2. However, there were many highlights on the night as Hannah Micheel defeated all three of her opponents at the top singles spot defeating Shawnee Mission South 8-6, Shawnee Mission East 8-0 and Manhattan 8-3. In the first round Rebecca Monroe and Sarah Chang teamed up to defeat their Shawnee Mission South opponent 8-1 at the #2 doubles spot. At the top doubles position, Stephanie Stanislow and Ohemaa Sarpong won their doubles match against Shawnee Mission East in a tiebreaker and Emma Young rounded out the wins by defeating her opponent from Manhattan in the final round 8-5.
The Lady Jays next play in the Salina South Tennis Invite this Thursday, September 21. Matches will start at 1 pm and be held at both the Salina South and Salina Central tennis courts.
