JUNCTION CITY, Kan. — Geary County Commissioners met Monday discussing a variety of topics, ranging from the 2022 budget, to potential mask requirements.
County Commission Chair Trish Giordano said the county is working closely with a variety of health professionals in the area in an effort to mitigate Coronavirus cases in the area.
Neighboring cities, like Manhattan, have put into place new restrictions for masks in City buildings regardless of vaccination status, and currently Geary County does not have plans for similar restrictions, but of course, that could change any time with any severe increase in cases.
"That is a real possibility," said Giordano of potential mask requirements. "We do visit with our Health Director and also talk to either the hospital, Health Department or Konza (Prairie Community Health Center), just to get an idea. I know right now we have several people in the hospital and that's a concern because those numbers are going up, but vaccinations are helpful and we do urge people to get vaccinated."
