There has apparently been a change for the Military Affairs Council of the Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce. Geary County Commission Chair Kathy Tremont confirmed that MAC Director Rob Wilson has been informed of his release by Chamber of Commerce President Mickey Fornaro-Dean.

Specific reasons for the dismissal are not known.

Tremont noted that the commission needs to have a conversation about MAC, the Economic Development Commission, and the Chamber. The County has scheduled an executive session Monday evening during their weekly meeting to talk about contractual issues.

Tremont plus Commissioners Keith Ascher and Trish Giordano ( Thornberg ) were all surprised with the dismissal, with Giordano and Ascher noting that Wilson was the best MAC Director that they ever had. Giordano added, "In my opinion this was more of a personality conflict than that of a performance issue."

Wilson released a statement to JC Post. "I can confirm that I was terminated. However, I will not comment on the circumstances surrounding my termination. My foremost concern moving forward is to ensure that our veterans, Ft Riley service members and their families within our community continue to receive the highest standard of care and support. I remain steadfast in my commitment to serving our community and to supporting those currently in uniform and those who have proudly served our nation."

JC Post attempted to reach Fornaro-Dean but has not yet made contact with her.

On another note the Chamber announced that the next scheduled Military Affairs Council Breakfast on April 23 has been cancelled. Fornaro-Dean and MAC Advisory Commitee Chair Mark Claussen issued a statement. "Due to recent scheduling and alignment considerations, the Military Affairs Breakfast will not be held in April. We look forward to continuing our Military Affairs programming next month and will share those details soon." The commanding general of the 1st Infantry Division, Major General Monte Rone, had been the schedued guest speaker.
