JUNCTION CITY, Kan. — Finding help during a difficult time can be overwhelming. Between navigating different agencies, completing paperwork, making appointments, taking time off of work, and traveling to multiple locations, accessing the right resources can sometimes feel like a challenge in itself.

The Magdalene Project hopes to change that with the launch of The Junction Resource Hub, a new initiative designed to bring community agencies together in one accessible location to help individuals and families connect with services and support.

Beginning October 26, the resource hub will operate every second and fourth Monday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the conference room at the Dorothy Bramlage Public Library in Junction City.

The concept grew out of a best-practices tour conducted in the summer and fall of 2025, when representatives explored programs in Wichita, Salina, Hays, Topeka, Lawrence, Kansas City, and Denver. The visits focused on learning how communities help individuals and families overcome barriers, access resources, and work toward greater financial stability and independence.

Through that research, The Magdalene Project identified an opportunity to bring the multi-agency resource center model together with its existing wraparound support services to better meet the needs of Geary County and the surrounding area.

“Our goal is to bring the community’s resources together in one welcoming place, so finding the right support is simple and streamlined,” said Jodi Mason, Director of The Magdalene Project. “We know many of our neighbors are working hard and can’t afford to take off from work, so we’re holding this event during the lunch hour to make it easy to stop by on a break. Here, people can connect directly with the right services and take meaningful steps toward stability and a brighter future.”

The resource hub is intended to serve a broad range of community members. Individuals and families facing financial hardship, housing instability, employment challenges, healthcare barriers, food insecurity, or other difficult circumstances may benefit from having access to multiple service providers in one location. The resource hub is designed to help people facing a variety of challenges find support before a difficult situation becomes a crisis.

Participating agencies will provide direct assistance during hub sessions, which may include help with budgeting, rent and utility payments, government and Veteran benefits, mental and healthcare screenings, flu shots, and other services. Depending on the services offered, individuals may be able to receive assistance or begin the application process during their visit.

The Magdalene Project recognizes that many valuable community organizations provide services at different locations, on specific days, or to particular populations. Although the hub's initial format will prioritize agencies providing direct assistance on-site, informational materials from other organizations will be available to help visitors learn about additional programs and services throughout the community.

“This is about building connections and working together,” Mason said. “There are already wonderful organizations doing important work in our community. We want to build on those efforts, help people find the right resources, and make it easier for organizations to connect with the individuals and families who need their services.”

The initial location at the public library will allow The Magdalene Project to begin offering services while continuing to explore options for a permanent facility. As the program grows, the organization hopes to expand the services available through the hub and create additional opportunities for community partners to collaborate.

The Junction Resource Hub builds on The Magdalene Project's ongoing work to help neighbors navigate challenges through case management, basic-needs assistance, employment support, resource navigation, and other services designed to promote stability and independence.
