MAC Director vacancy has a number of applicants

Junction City Area Chamber of Commerce President / EDC Director Mickey Fornaro-Dean reported Thursday to the Chamber Board that so far 28 resumes have been received from people applying for the vacant Military Affairs Director position. More potential candidates are also considering applying.

Fornaro-Dean is hopeful a new MAC Director can be in place in September.

Other topics were covered in the board meeting at the Municipal Building.

--Eagle Communications is providing funding from the Schmidt Foundation to the Economic Development Commission to support the AUSA trip this October to Washington D.C. The funds include $10,000 remaining from 2021 and another $50,000 from the Foundation this year. The money will be used to help with digital advertising, promotional materials and follow up advertising, plus Fornaro-Dean's participation in the FABTECH Show in Atlanta in November. That is the largest metal forming, fabricating, welding and finishing event in North America.

--Efforts on a possible casino night fundraiser for the Chamber membership division are under way.

--The Chamber golf tournament generated just under $10,000 in revenue.

--And Superintendent of Schools Dr. Reginald Eggleston reminded the Board about the District's Back to School Carnival Aug. 4th from 6-8 p.m. at Blue Jay Stadium. Goals of the event include providing information to parents about back to school, and to build excitement for the upcoming school year.
