Jasper “Junior” Boggs, Jr., 93, of Manhattan, KS, passed away on May 8, 2025, at Stoneybrook Assisted Living in Manhattan. Born November 23, 1931 at Roxana, Letcher County, Kentucky, Junior was the youngest of 10 children born to Jasper and Mahala (Maggard) Boggs.
“Junior” enlisted in the Ohio National Guard and was activated in May of 1953 to serve his country during the Korean War, as a Mortar Specialist. While stationed at Fort Riley, he met and married Leona Ruby (Stilley) on April 25, 1955, in Manhattan, KS. Corporal Jasper Boggs Jr. was honorably discharged from United States Army Reserves in May 1961.
He enjoyed anything in the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was a devoted Christian and supporter of Pottawatomie County law enforcement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and infant son Charles Lee Boggs; 9 siblings: Lester, Susan, Mary, William, Rosie, Sam, Cora, Joe, and Boyd.
“Junior” is survived by six children: Dale (DD) Boggs, of Wamego; David (Donna) Boggs, of Texas, Sharon (Dana) Wahl, of Wamego, James (Lori) Boggs of Wamego, Mark (Lorrie) Boggs of Kentucky, and Jay (Melissa) Boggs of Florida, 18 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, and nephews.
Interment will be at the Louisville Cemetery, Louisville, KS.
