Waltraud was born April 28, 1940 in Augsburg, Germany the daughter of Ludwig Gigele.

Helen M Haynes (Cox), age 73, of Junction City, Kansas, passed away at her home on Monday, February 2, 2026. She was born in Yorktown, Texas, on October 28, 1952, to George and Grace Cox. Helen was baptized in November 1952 and grew up in Runge, Texas, before later moving to Taft. She was confirmed in June 1968 at Faith Lutheran Church in Taft, Texas. Helen graduated from Taft High School in 1970.

She met Donald Haynes while he was in the Navy and married him on June 26, 1971, at Faith Lutheran Church in Taft, Texas. They then moved to Junction City, Kansas. Helen's top priority was to find a church where she could feel at home. In 1974, she transferred her membership from Faith Lutheran in Texas to Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church in Junction City. There, she lived out her faith and served as a dedicated steward in various roles, including youth leader, Sunday school teacher, church council member, knitter of prayer shawls, choir singer, and coordinator of church luncheons, soup suppers, Thanksgiving dinners, and fundraisers.

As a mother, she was attentive and loving, nurturing her three children and encouraging them to pursue their dreams, even when it frightened her to let go. In addition to being a mother to several bonus children, she was a beloved "Memaw" to many who were fortunate enough to receive her love and care. She welcomed everyone with open arms and embraced them with kindness.

Helen worked at the Junction City Post Office and was a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association (RLCA), where she served as a state steward for many years. She retired after more than 20 years of dedicated service.

Eager to contribute to her community, Helen volunteered at the Junction City Little Theater, where she brought characters to life through her skillful application of stage makeup and helped wherever needed. Her passion for the arts illuminated every productio

n, creating vibrant experiences for both the cast and audience.

As an avid crafter, Helen possessed a variety of talents, including card making, painting, barn quilt design, knitting, and basket weaving. She taught creative craft classes at the Dorothy Bramlage Public Library, generously sharing her skills with friends, family, and anyone eager to learn. She participated in events such as Apple Days, county fairs, and Pony Express Days, where she showcased her version of traditional prairie attire while weaving baskets. Additionally, she volunteered at Lincoln Elementary School for Kansas Day and with the Boy Scouts of America, demonstrating basket-weaving techniques to the youth.

Helen wholeheartedly supported her husband and sons in their festive endeavors, enthusiastically helping with decorations for the Freemasons, the York Rite, the Shriners, and heartfelt Memorial Day tributes. This joyful collaboration brought their family closer together while honoring important traditions.

Helen is survived by her loving husband, Donald Haynes, along with her sons, Robert Haynes and Wesley (Therasa) Haynes; her daughter, Bethany Brewer; and her treasured grandchildren, Jonas (Leigh) Moore, Wyatt Haynes, and Zoe Haynes. She is also survived by her sisters, Elizabeth (Kipp) Miller, Janie Chandler, and Georgia Elps (Glenn McElroy); and her in-laws, Vernon and Emma Manion, and Donna Haynes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Grace Cox, as well as her in-laws, Byrle and Ruth Haynes. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her siblings-in-law: Lois Claus, Sidney Chandler, Margret Haynes, Carol Haynes (Roger Selken), and Ronald Haynes.

Visitation will be held on February 15, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Johnson &amp; Mass-Hinitt Funeral Home, located at 203 N Washington St, Junction City, KS 66441. &nbsp; Donald R. Puett, age 79, of Manhattan, passed away February 3, 2026.He was born on February 11, 1946, the son of Glen and Marie Puett. Don grew up in the Ashland Community south of Manhattan. He graduated from Manhattan High School with the class of 1964 and served in the Army National Guard for many years. He worked as a truck driver for different companies. 

Don enjoyed hunting and being outdoors. He loved animals of all kinds, especially his cats who he always made sure they were taken care of.On July 5, 2005, he was united in marriage to his wife Connie. She preceded him in death on April 12, 2022. Also preceding him death were his brothers and sisters.Don is survived by his stepson, Darin Morgan (Jennifer), of McCook, Nebraska, his many nieces and nephews and many other family members and friends.

Corinne was born on November 20, 1931, in White City, Kansas, to Earle and Cora (Kamm) Evans. She was the fourth of eleven children and graduated from White City High School.

Corinne was fortunate to find love twice in her life. Her first love was her high school sweetheart, Veryl Dale McCulle, whom she married on July 30, 1952. Tragically, Veryl passed away less than five months later. Though still young, Corinne carried on with strength and resilience, moving to Junction City, Kansas, where she later met her second love, John Spencer Larson Jr. They were married on December 15, 1953, and together raised five children: Spencer Eugene, Jeffrey Lynn, Krystal Ann, Steven Grant, and David Allan Larson.

Family was the center of Corinne’s life. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, over 30 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, whom she loved spending time with.

A caregiver at heart, Corinne spent her life caring for others. She was endlessly creative—sewing dance costumes for her daughter and granddaughter, decorating her home with warmth and beauty, and delighting her great-grandchildren with personalized holiday gifts. Her gift wrapping was so beautiful that it was almost a shame to open the presents she gave you. She was also an accomplished gardener, and her property reflected that passion, filled with beautiful blooms and a wide variety of plants that brought joy to all who visited.

Corinne was preceded in death by her parents; her first and second husbands; her son, Spencer Eugene Larson; her brothers, Harold Lloyd Evans, Lawrence Duane Evans, and Earle Gary Evans; and her sisters, Ellouise June Evans and Eloise Earlene Grunwald.

She is survived by her children: Jeffrey Lynn Larson of Saint Mary's, Kansas; Krystal Ann Larson of Maple Hill, Kansas; Steven Grant Larson of Maple Hill, Kansas; and David Allan Larson of Topeka, Kansas; her siblings: Keith Evans, Carol Olsen, Larry Evans, Rosemarie McCreath, and Donald Evans; along with her many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Born November 29, 1935, in Wamego, Kansas, Sally was the beloved daughter of George and Neva (Long) Shea. Her father was well known for his gardening, and Sally inherited his green thumb, delighting in planting flowers and tending to her outdoor spaces. She was first married to Larry Cassity, with whom she shared 22 years and raised a loving family. She was a Navy wife who lived in various places across the United States and Europe. In May 1976, Sally married Samuel L. McGowan, and together they enjoyed 48 wonderful years until Sam’s passing in March 2025.

Sally’s life was filled with devotion to her family and community. She is survived by her three sons: Paul Cassity (Tena) of Hartford, KS; John Cassity (Cindy) of Alma, KS; and James Cassity (Karen) of Grayslake, IL. She was a cherished grandmother to eleven grandchildren, Wyatt Fairchild (Jesse), Maggie Fairchild, Josh Johnson, Cole Cassity (DiShannon), Cord Cassity (Alexus), Nikki Cassity, Dakota Cassity, Alison Cassity (Joe), Emily Cassity, Sadie Cassity, and Cade Cassity; and great-grandmother to thirteen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth (Cassity) Fairchild Johnson and Shea Marie Cassity; a brother, James Shea (Wilma); and a sister, Mary Ann Schumacher (Loren “Cork”).

Sally was known for her warmth, generosity, and active involvement in her community. She was a talented seamstress who loved working on quilts and needlepoint, and she was an adventurous reader who often had three books going at once, depending on her mood.

Throughout her career, Sally worked at Dale’s Market, Wamego Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital, and Mercy Hospital, where she was respected for her dedication and kindness. She also volunteered at the Wamego Historical

Museum, reflecting her love for local history and service to others. Notably, Sally was proud to be the first female EMT in Wamego, paving the way for others and serving her community with compassion and skill.

A Rosary Service will be held Saturday morning, February 7, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Campanella &amp; Stewart Funeral Home, with a Memorial Prayer Service immediately following, officiated by Fr. Swamy Nannam. Inurnment will take place at Wamego City Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home in Wamego.

Sarah L."Sally" McGowan

Patricia Gale Frey, 89, of Wamego Kansas passed away January 9th, 2026, just shy of her 90th birthday. Pat was born and raised in Ransom Kansas, the daughter of Willard and Hollis Stowe. While attending Fort Hays State University, she met Larry James Rogers and they were married in 1956. They settled in Wamego, Kansas where they owned Wamego Pharmacy for many years.

In 1979, Pat married David Frey. They were married until David passed away in 2017. David and Pat experienced many adventures during their time together. They loved traveling and traveled to 25 countries and 5 continents. One of her favorite trips was to Tanzania, Africa for David’s retirement celebration. According to Pat “It was a trip of a lifetime and one they would both be happy to repeat”. Pat and David also loved cycling abroad and at home.

Pat graduated from KSU with both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in education. She was particularly proud of the fact that she was just shy of obtaining her PhD. In Wamego, she dedicated 12 years to teaching third grade, nurturing a love of learning in her students, followed by 10 years in Title I reading, where she empowered readers and instilled joy in literacy. Pat's commitment to education left a lasting impact on her students and the community

Pat was a staunch supporter of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church where she served on many committees. She taught vacation bible school, Sunday school and more. Pat was a supporter of the Columbian Theatre, The Oz Museum, McCain Theatre, Community Health Ministries, The Senior Center and the Wamego Library.

Pat LOVED to play bridge with her dear friends. It was the highlight of her week. She loved spending time with her grandchildren at their Lake home in Council Grove and skiing in Colorado. Pat was an avid reader and loved reading to her children and grandchildren.

Pat is preceded in death by husband David Frey, parents Willard and Hollis Stowe, brother Lloyd Stowe, Gloria Jean Folkers and Gwendolyn Klitzke, grandchild Dominic Sandoval, and her beloved dog, Gigi. She is survived by one son, Dr. Rodd Rogers (Angela) Kansas City, MO, Tyra Sandoval (Gene), Colorado Springs CO, Darcee Farrell, Wamego KS, 2 step children , Gelene Tabor (Dan) Birchwood WI, Jennifer Quebedeaux (David) Applewood GA, Grandchildren, Apryl, Jared, Joseph, Raquell, Amanda, Shane and step grandchildren, Ryan, Meaghan and numerous great grandchildren.

Celebration of her beautiful life is scheduled on her 90th Birthday, February 12, 2026 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church of Wamego with Rev. Casey Rohleder officiating. Matthew Wesley White was born on July 18, 1982, at the St. Joseph hospital in Kansas City Missouri. Matthew spent his early childhood years in different states because his father was active-duty Air Force. At a very young age, his family moved to Sacramento, California. In 1988 Matthew moved with his family to Melbourne, Florida and attended a local elementary school. In 1992, the family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he attended local schools there, and finally in 1997 the family retired from the military and relocated to Sacramento, California.

Matthew lived for a few years in Dayton, Ohio. There he held various jobs such as McDonalds, Taco Bell, a movie theater, and Wal-Mart. What he enjoyed most of all was building a relationship with his four nieces: Aubre, Peyton, Taylor, and Cadhli. He would help babysit and care for them whenever he could.

A few years passed and Matthew returned to Sacramento, where he decided to join the Army. Matthew’s Army career spanned six years from about 2006 to 2012. He received an honorable discharge from the Army in 2012. He was proud to have spent time in the Army. He spent some time serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. He told many stories, but one I remember was when the enemy attacked his post and exposed him to harmful gases. His final two years were spent in the Army National Guard in Stockton, California. After his discharge he held many different jobs. He did security, golf course maintenance and at a local zoo where he did ground maintenance.

In the summer of 2019, with his parents, he moved to Abilene, Kansas. He settled in Salina, Kansas where he held different jobs. Matthew enjoyed a supervising job he had where the company he worked for received, sorted, and organized metal for Evergy. The metal was used to build electrical power towers. While living in Salina, Matthew met Alexandria Robinson. Their relationship grew into a love that never failed. Matthew always wanted to purchase a home and in Salina he did just that.

Matthew was an amazing man. He was full of love, and he just wanted to be loved the way he loved. He loved his family very much and enjoyed being with them whenever he could. They celebrated special holidays and birthdays together. He was such a jokester always keeping the mood light. He loved his dog Zuul. He took him to the dog park regularly. He never really wanted anyone to know how sick he was. He just wanted to be around those he loved and create memories he can take with him forever. He will be truly missed.

He is survived by his parents, brother and sisters.

She was a dedicated loan officer of Bennington State Bank for 27 years and a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she served as the financial secretary and a Sunday school teacher. She had a love for her plants, sports, weekend naps, and a good, strong cup of coffee. Her talent of interior design was evident when you walked into her home – warm and inviting just like she was. Laurie was a light everywhere she went and to everyone she met. She loved gathering with family and friends in “The Shack”, facetiming and reading books with her grandkids, and sitting with her beloved husband on their back porch, simply enjoying each other’s presence in God’s creation.

Jonna Rider, a beloved daughter, sister, mother, wife, and grandmother, passed away on January 30, 2026, surrounded by love after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 60 years old.

Jonna lived a life rooted in compassion, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family. Above all else, her grandchildren were her world. She found her greatest joy in spending time with them—celebrating milestones, cheering them on, and surrounding them with endless love. Her presence brought comfort, laughter, and warmth to their lives.

A natural caregiver, Jonna had a heart for helping and serving others. Through quiet acts of kindness and selfless dedication, she made a lasting impact on everyone she met. She gave freely of her time, energy, and love, never seeking recognition—only the opportunity to brighten someone else’s day. Among her many commitments, she was especially proud to serve as Vice President of Kansas Kids in Crisis, a role that reflected her deep compassion for children and families in need.

As a wife and mother, Jonna was the steady foundation of her family, offering strength, wisdom, and unconditional love. As a daughter and sister, she carried deep respect and gratitude for the values that shaped her life. Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished and the many lives she touched with her kindness.

Jonna was preceded in death by her mother, Julia (Pieratt) Watson.

She is survived by her father, John Watson; her husband, Curtis Rider; her children, Ashley (Rutz) Miller and her husband, Daniel, and Austin Rutz and his wife, Jessica; her sister, Janae (Watson) Lickert and her husband, Tracy; her brother, Jarred Watson and his wife, Amber; her cherished grandchildren, Charlotte, Layton, Harper, and Lainey; and extended family and dear friends who will forever hold her memory close.

Kevin D. Langdon of Talmage, KS, passed away on January 30, 2026 at the age of 70. He was born on October 4, 1955 to Marvin and Helen (Dickinson) in Salina, KS. After graduating from Solomon High School in 1973 and then Hutchinson Community College, he was co-owner of Abilene Sport Shack and then was ultimately a Rural Mail Carrier for the US Postal Service, where he was well known delivering mail and making close connections with many customers.

Kevin married Pat Howard in 1983 and they had children Brooke (Michelle) St. John and Nolan (Dana Horne) all of Denver, CO. They later divorced and Kevin remarried Tina Wilkens, to which he later divorced.

For many years he played softball and countless rounds of golf – finally making a Hole-In-One on hole number three in Chapman, an accomplishment he cherished. Two of Kevin’s loves were his three grandchildren and the Kansas Jayhawks – especially the banter that went with his “Let’s go Jayhawks” pre-game text message and the subsequent “Never A Doubt” that followed a Rock Chalk victory.

Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife Tina and his nephew, Matt Langdon. He is survived by his children, grandchildren Watson and McCoy St. John, Wyatt Langdon, brother Mic (Kris) Langdon, sisters Marlys (Kenny) Rohrer, Launee (Norman) Durant, many nieces and a nephew as well as Tina’s children Zach and Brooke Wilkens.

A memorial service will be held graveside at Prairie Dale Cemetery February 14, 2026 at 11:00am followed by a gathering at the Talmage Event Center, all are welcome.

Later, Julie brought her talents and warm spirit to the legal field, working as a legal assistant for attorney Mark Guilfoyle and the Max Hinkle Law Firm in Abilene, Kansas. She completed her working career in public service as the Deputy Director of Contracting for the Department of the Army at Fort Riley, retiring in 2017 after years of dedicated service.

Julie is survived by her sister, Joyce Bowell of Reading, Pennsylvania; her niece, Tammy (Joseph) Leone of Linesville, Pennsylvania; great-nieces Alyssa (Victor) Torres of Reading, Pennsylvania, Kassaundra (Cody) Rose of Titusville, Pennsylvania; great-nephews Dakota (Nicole) Perez of Conneaut Lake, Pennsylvania, and Noah Leone of Linesville, Pennsylvania; as well as five great-great nieces and two great-great nephews who brought her so much joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a nephew, Douglas Bowen; great-nieces Amanda Bowen, Sierra Bowen, and Victoria Bowen; and a great-great nephew, Basyl Rose.

Julie was truly one of the sweetest souls, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She found joy in traveling, especially to Albuquerque, New Mexico, cheering on NASCAR, and proudly supporting her beloved Kansas City Chiefs. Above all, Julie cherished her family. She loved spoiling her niece, nephew, and great-nieces and nephews, loving them as if they were her own children.

Mark Daniel Goodman was born on October 6, 1963, in Junction City, Kansas. He departed this life on February 1, 2026, in Topeka, Kansas, leaving behind cherished memories.

Mark served as a meat department manager for Food for Less in both Junction City and Manhattan, Kansas. His career path also led him to the Harrah's Casino, where he worked for many years as a surveillance supervisor, demonstrating his commitment and expertise in multiple roles.

An individual who valued education, Mark graduated from Junction City High School Class of 1982 and earned his associate's degree in Criminal Justice from Rasmussen University, a pursuit that showcased his determination and ambition. He carried this passion for learning into all aspects of his life, engaging deeply with his hobbies and interests.

Mark was known for his great sense of humor and was fondly regarded as the fun uncle by his family. He created unforgettable memories through family road trips, where his lively spirit left a lasting impact on those who traveled alongside him. Possessing a love for creativity, Mark delighted in the worlds of reading, movies, and computer games; he was particularly fond of the "Lord of the Rings" and "Dune" franchises, reflecting his vivid imagination.

Mark also found joy in the great outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing during his leisure time. He was also an avid collector of records, a hobby that allowed him to connect with the sounds and times that brought him happiness. Mark had a special affinity for Disney World, a place where he embraced his inner child and made countless treasured memories.

Mark is survived by his devoted parents, Danny C. and Janice M. Goodman; his brother, Kenneth (Kim) Goodman; and his cherished nieces, Kristina (Haden) Baker and Kelsey Wright, as well as his nephew, Kenny Goodman. He also leaves behind the joy of his great-niece and great-nephew, Melody and Malcolm, who will carry his spirit forward.

Kent Carmichael, 77, of Manhattan, passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife and daughters.

Kent was born on December 17, 1948, in Hays, Kansas, to Elmo and Verna Jane (Thompson) Carmichael. He grew up on the Saline River and graduated from Plainville High School in 1966.

He went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Emporia State University in 1970. He married Sandra Anderson of Liberal, KS, on December 28, 1968. After college, the couple moved to Liberal, KS, where Kent began work for his father-in-law in the hardware store business. In 1973, they had the opportunity to move to Ulysses and open Ulysses Standard Supply/Big R/Ace Hardware. This started the beginning of a 50-year career serving Ulysses and the surrounding communities. He later added stores in Larned, Scott City, and Marion. Kent believed the “customer was always right” and was loved by employees and customers alike. When asked how he was, he was famous for answering, “Fantastic…and it’s gonna get better!” As a business member who believed in supporting his community, he was a member of the Chamber of Commerce (President 1976), the Rotary Club, the Mid-States Distributing Company, and heavily involved in the annual Home Products Dinner and Spring Fling. He also served many years on the Western Prairie Nursing Home Board of Directors, the Zoning Commission, the Ulysses High School FFA board, and was a volunteer coach for youth basketball.

He was blessed with 57 years of marriage to his loving wife, a relationship built on devotion, faith, and enduring love. He was a proud father to two daughters and grateful for his sons-in-law, whom he loved as his own. His seven grandchildren were a constant joy and blessing in his life. He delighted in watching them grow and following their many school activities. Kent was a steady example to his grandchildren, showing them through his actions the value of hard work, generosity, and caring for others.

Kent’s favorite hobby was fishing. Living in SW Kansas, he didn’t get to fish often, but took annual trips to Alaska with his father and brother. This was a summer highlight he looked forward to all year. His most exciting trip was in 2011, when he broke a world record catching a 466 lb. halibut, a story often retold with a smile and fond memories.

Kent was preceded in death by his father and mother, Elmo and Verna Jane Carmichael, and his stepmother, Lee Carmichael.&nbsp;

He is survived by his wife, Sandra, of the home; brother, Craig Carmichael (JaneAnn), Independence, MO; two daughters, Shelley Carmichael (Carl Smith), Aurora, NE, and Tricia Gill (Jeff), St. George, KS; and 7 grandchildren: Vianna, Julia, Quinten, and Ayeanna Smith; and Lauren, Evie, and Porter Gill.

Though we mourn his passing, we do not grieve without hope. We take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him, and rejoicing in the presence of his Savior. His faith sustained him in life, and it now assures us that we will see him again.

Services will be held at Crestview Christian Church, 3940 Excel Rd, Manhattan, KS on Saturday, February 7 at 11AM.&nbsp;

Linda Marie (Roudybush) Hensley, 74, of Louisville, Kansas, passed away on January 23, 2026, at Via Christi Hospital, Manhattan, Kansas.

&nbsp;Linda was born October 12, 1951, in Onaga, Kansas, to parents Charles Evert and Ruth Jean (Teter) Roudybush. She was raised in Onaga and attended Pottawatomie County public schools, graduating with the Class of 1965.

&nbsp;Linda earned her Certified Dietary Manager certificate through Auburn University in 1998. She dedicated many years of service to caring for others through her work with the elderly and healthcare setting. She worked for 17 years at the Good Samaritan Valley Vista senior care in Wamego, Kansas. Afterwards, she worked at the Wamego Health Center for two years.

&nbsp;Linda loved her family deeply and treasured every moment spent with them. She had a big heart and would help anyone in need. Her hobbies brought her great joy and included cooking, fishing, collecting antiques, attending auctions, sewing, gardening, and canning. Her favorite place to be was gathered around the table with her family--sharing meals, laughter, and stories. Those moments defined who she was: loving, generous, and full of warmth.

&nbsp;Linda was first married to Jack Larry Parker in 1973, and from this union one son, Larry Jack Parker, was born. She later married Paul Hensley in 1987.

&nbsp;Larry Gean Thierer, from Alma, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on January 15, 2026, at the age of 70.

&nbsp;Larry was born on February 12, 1955, in Wabaunsee County, Kansas, to parents Lowell Gene and Myrtle Mae (Gustafson) Thierer. Larry lived a life marked by devotion to his family, a stellar work ethic, and a passion for his profession.

&nbsp;He was united in marriage with Debra Jo Land on May 18, 1985, at the Alma United Methodist Church. She passed in 2017. Larry was a devoted caregiver to his beloved wife during her brave battle with cancer. His unwavering support and love during this challenging time reflected the deep bond they shared.

&nbsp;As the owner and mechanic of a roadside semi-truck service business, he served friends and strangers alike until his retirement in 2022. Known for his practical nature, Larry often wore his favorite color, safety orange. He was frequently seen wearing safety orange clothing, a nod to his career.

&nbsp;Larry had a lifelong love of trains that led him to volunteer at the Abilene &amp; Smoky Valley Railroad in Abilene, Kansas, for over a decade. His knowledge of engines and heavy farm equipment was crucial to the operation of the historical locomotives. He cherished his engineer's license, finding more pride in it than even in his Commercial Driver's License.

&nbsp;His commitment to his work was evident in every task he undertook, shaped by the values instilled in him during his upbringing on a diversified farm and ranch near Volland, Kansas. Larry took pride in being a fifth-generation steward of the family land. The land was home to ‘Molasses Days’, a Labor Day weekend event where you could cut sugar cane, express the liquid with a horse-drawn press, and cook the molasses in outside vats. The Thierer family also operated on their land the Mill Creek Museum, held barn dances, and had agricultural living history festivals from 1961 to 1982.

Larry is survived by his cousin Janelle Fink; nephew Chris Wisneski (Stacy); great-nieces Ali Nunez (Felix) and Emily Decoster; and great-great nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind close friends from high school who fondly remember him, including Mark, Mel, and Jerry.

 </figure>&nbsp;Larry Gean Thierer, from Alma, Kansas, passed away peacefully at his home on January 15, 2026, at the age of 70.&nbsp;Larry was born on February 12, 1955, in Wabaunsee County, Kansas, to parents Lowell Gene and Myrtle Mae (Gustafson) Thierer. Larry lived a life marked by devotion to his family, a stellar work ethic, and a passion for his profession.&nbsp;He was united in marriage with Debra Jo Land on May 18, 1985, at the Alma United Methodist Church. She passed in 2017. Larry was a devoted caregiver to his beloved wife during her brave battle with cancer. His unwavering support and love during this challenging time reflected the deep bond they shared.&nbsp;As the owner and mechanic of a roadside semi-truck service business, he served friends and strangers alike until his retirement in 2022. Known for his practical nature, Larry often wore his favorite color, safety orange. He was frequently seen wearing safety orange clothing, a nod to his career.&nbsp;Larry had a lifelong love of trains that led him to volunteer at the Abilene &amp; Smoky Valley Railroad in Abilene, Kansas, for over a decade. His knowledge of engines and heavy farm equipment was crucial to the operation of the historical locomotives. He cherished his engineer's license, finding more pride in it than even in his Commercial Driver's License.&nbsp;His commitment to his work was evident in every task he undertook, shaped by the values instilled in him during his upbringing on a diversified farm and ranch near Volland, Kansas. Larry took pride in being a fifth-generation steward of the family land. The land was home to ‘Molasses Days’, a Labor Day weekend event where you could cut sugar cane, express the liquid with a horse-drawn press, and cook the molasses in outside vats. The Thierer family also operated on their land the Mill Creek Museum, held barn dances, and had agricultural living history festivals from 1961 to 1982.Larry is survived by his cousin Janelle Fink; nephew Chris Wisneski (Stacy); great-nieces Ali Nunez (Felix) and Emily Decoster; and great-great nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind close friends from high school who fondly remember him, including Mark, Mel, and Jerry.&nbsp;Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Debra, his sister Joyce Mae Thierer, and his aunt Marguerite R. Throughout her career, Sally worked at Dale’s Market, Wamego Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital, and Mercy Hospital, where she was respected for her dedication and kindness. She also volunteered at the Wamego Historical Museum, reflecting her love for local history and service to others. Notably, Sally was proud to be the first female EMT in Wamego, paving the way for others and serving her community with compassion and skill.

Her father was well known for his gardening, and Sally inherited his green thumb, delighting in planting flowers and tending to her outdoor spaces. She was first married to Larry Cassity, with whom she shared 22 years and raised a loving family. She was a Navy wife who lived in various places across the United States and Europe. In May 1976, Sally married Samuel L. McGowan, and together they enjoyed 48 wonderful years until Sam’s passing in March 2025.Sally’s life was filled with devotion to her family and community. She is survived by her three sons: Paul Cassity (Tena) of Hartford, KS; John Cassity (Cindy) of Alma, KS; and James Cassity (Karen) of Grayslake, IL. She was a cherished grandmother to eleven grandchildren, Wyatt Fairchild (Jesse), Maggie Fairchild, Josh Johnson, Cole Cassity (DiShannon), Cord Cassity (Alexus), Nikki Cassity, Dakota Cassity, Alison Cassity (Joe), Emily Cassity, Sadie Cassity, and Cade Cassity; and great-grandmother to thirteen.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth (Cassity) Fairchild Johnson and Shea Marie Cassity; a brother, James Shea (Wilma); and a sister, Mary Ann Schumacher (Loren “Cork”).Sally was known for her warmth, generosity, and active involvement in her community. Sarah L. "Sally" McGowan

Gregory Clare passed away at Village Manor Tuesday January 27th 2026. Greg was born January 11, 1951 in Garden City, Kansas the son of Thomas and Shireen Beal Clare. After high school Greg attended Brown Mackie College. Most of Greg’s working career was spent in the construction industry.

Greg is survived by his daughter Marci Clare of Abilene and his son Josh Clare (Giselle) of Arkansas as well as five grandchildren. Greg was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Sharon Clare and Brother Thomas Clare.

Terry Wayne Schwarz was born on February 22, 1957, in Salina Kansas. A son of Dean Laverne and Barbara Anne (Kohman) Schwarz. He went quickly to be with the Lord on January 21, 2026. A man of quiet strength, deep integrity, and remarkable versatility, he lived a life rooted in hard work, creativity, and devotion to those he loved.

He spent much of his life as a dairy farmer, caring for his animals with patience and pride. Dairying was not just his livelihood, but a way of life that reflected his steady character: late nights, and unwavering commitment. He shared his deep knowledge of the dairy industry through active service with the Kansas Dairy Association, Kansas Dairy Commission and the Kansas Animal Health Board, where he served multiple leadership roles.

In addition to dairying, he was a talented architect and artist whose mind and hands were always building. He was very proud of his degree in architecture from Kansas State University and spent his entire life learning. He had a gift for seeing what could be, turning ideas into lasting structures marked by thoughtfulness and absolute precision. In 2016, his paths of dairying and architecture converged when he redesigned and oversaw construction of the Dairy Bar at the Kansas State Fairgrounds, where ice cream has been served for nearly 100 years. Whether designing a building or repairing something on the dairy, he approached every project with care and purpose.

Above all else, Terry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He shared nearly 48 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Vona. Together they built a family grounded in the love of Christ. He was a proud and supportive father to Jameon, Chelsie and Chaid. He was a deeply cherished grandfather to Ethan, Chase, Noah, Kai, Landon, Aspen, Selah J., Ainsley, Emmie-Rose, Brittan and Dax who will remember him for his scruffy beard tickles, gentle wisdom, quiet humor, and hours teaching artistic shading, shadow casting, and color theory 101 all with different art mediums.

Terry had a deep sense of responsibility to family and he leaves behind a legacy of hard work, craftsmanship, and love that will continue through the generations he helped shape.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
