Michael C. Bley passed away on April 20, 2026, at the VA Perry Point Hospice in Perry Point, Maryland. He was born on January 29, 1957, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Michael proudly served in the United States Navy from December 29, 1975, to February 14, 1980, and again from January 6, 1982, to March 28, 1983. While serving aboard the USS Nimitz, he rewired motors. Mechanical and electrical skills that stayed with him throughout his life.

While serving aboard the USS Nimitz during the filming of The Final Countdown, Michael made a memorable appearance in the mess hall. From that day on, he proudly claimed Hollywood status—never missing a chance to remind friends and family that they were in the presence of a bona fide movie star.

After his military service, Michael continued working with motors in local motor shops before later driving trucks for the City of Baltimore.

Michael had a lifelong love of the water and spent many of his childhood summers at his grandmother’s home on the Magothy River. Those summers left him with fond memories and plenty of stories. He had a natural gift for storytelling and never missed a chance to share a good laugh.

Michael is survived by his brother, Emil Bley of Baltimore, Maryland, and his sisters: Nancy Martin of Baltimore, Maryland, and Pat Smith (Ron) of Junction City, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil C. and Dorothy V. Bley. His legacy also lives on in his nephew, Michael, who was proudly named in his honor.

Michael will be remembered for his sense of humor, his stories, and his knack for working with his hands. He will be missed by those who knew him.

Michael leaves behind laughter, stories, and memories that will be retold for years to come.
