There will be a 9/11 ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Monday in front of the Junction City Municipal Building. The agenda will include a color guard, wreath laying and speakers.
The 1st infantry Division and Fort Riley will host a 9/11 commemoration at 10 a.m. Monday at the Global War on Terrorism monument, located on the east side of the Cavalry Parade Field. Col. Michael Foote, Garrison Commander will speak and there will be a wreath laying and three-round salute.
In USD 475 there will be a number of Freedom Walks on Monday.
They will occur at Spring Valley, Sheridan Elementary and Milford Elementary Schools at 8:15 a.m., Seitz. Lincoln and Grandview Elementary Schools at 8:30 a.m. and Eisenhower Elementary at 10 a.m.
In the afternoon there will Freedom Walks at 1:30 p.m. at Ware Elementary, 1:45 p.m. Fort Riley Elementary, 2 p.m. at Westwood Elementary and 2:15 p.m. at Morris Hill Elementary School.
From 1-3 p.m. you can join Bud Pettigrew, a presidentially appointed commissioner of the American Battle Monuments Commission, to learn more about the final resting place of some of our nation's heroes. Call the Dorothy Bramlage Public Library at 785-239-4311 to register.
