Run for the Wall, the motorcycle ride to the National Vietnam War Memorial in Washington D.C. rolls into Junction City this coming Sunday for it's annual stop-over visit. Heritage Park downtown is the home for the Kansas Vietnam War Memorial.
The riders are expected to arrive around 5:45 p.m. coming off I-70 and making their way north on Washington Street to Heritage Park, according to event coordinator David Eckel. They will be greeted by 300 waving flags being held by volunteers. Following their arrival there will be a ceremony in the park with remarks from Kansas State Representative Pat Proctor, Leavenworth, KS, himself a retired U.S. Army Colonel.
Following the events in Heritage Park, the Run for the Wall riders will be served dinner at the Eagles Lodge as well as breakfast the following morning prior to their departure.
Note: This coming Thursday Event Coordinator Eckel joins Morning Show Host Jerry Brecheisen on 107.9 FM/1420 KJCK for a JC Now interview airing in three parts at 6:35 a.m., 7:35 a.m. and 8:35 a.m. He talks about event partners, planning and the riders making the Run for the Wall trip.
