Childcare was one of the topics when city, county commissioners and school board members met Monday at the C. L. Hoover Opera House.
A childcare coalition has received a $2,000 grant to get it up and running. There will be meetings after the first of the year for community providers. There has also been an application for a $45,000 grant to expand childcare capacity, and a lot of business education will be provided to help providers get future grants.
During discussion on coming together childcare also received attention. There will be a community forum on March 18th where members of the public can give input on different topics and ideas that could be pursued. Some briefly mentioned ranged from a sports complex and use of existing recreation facilities to a partnership with the YMCA and an indoor - outdoor water park. Build up of Grant Avenue was mentioned.
