Geary USD 475 is considering the possible closure of Grandview Elementary School and the H. D. Karns Building that is home to the Alternative School. The plan would then include moving the Alternative School to the building that now houses Grandview Elementary.

After lengthy discussion Monday evening the school board decided to hold public hearings on the two proposals on May 11 at the Grandview Elementary facility beginning at 6 p.m. There would be one hearing for each building.

The BOE approved notices for the public hearings.

The district is seeking to save money during tough budget times by closing the two school buildings. In the future the Karns Building could possibly be sold or torn down.
